Abstract

The objective of this research was to eva-luate the effect of biofertilizer on the abundance of nitrogen fixing bacteria and growth of cin-chona plants (Cinchona ledgeriana Moens) clones Cib.5. The research was conducted at the Research Institute for Tea and Cinchona, Gambung, Bandung, from May 2011 until June 2011. A randomized block design was used with five treatments and five replication. Application of five concentration of biofertilizer were per-formed. Concentrations were: 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 cc/l of water. The results indicated that the application of biofertilizer gave the higher total bacterial population compared to the treatment without biofertilizer, but showed no significant effect on growth of Cinchona plants. Concen-tration of biofertilizer 8 cc/l gave the higher total bacterial population of nitrogen fixing.

Abstract

Service quality in campus retail increasingly depends on human resource capability and operational discipline, making it essential to understand how these elements shape customer experience. This study aims to examine the role of human resource development, operational discipline, and interpersonal competence in enhancing service quality within campus retail units. The theoretical framework refers to Human Resource Development 4.0, High-Performance Work Systems, and Customer Experience Quality. This research employs a qualitative case study design through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. Findings reveal that continuous training, consistent SOP implementation, and staff interpersonal competence significantly strengthen service stability and responsiveness. These results highlight the need for integrating human development and operational systems to achieve adaptive, customer-oriented service performance.

Abstract

The gap between ideal and actual employee competencies remains a barrier for BUMDes (Village-Owned Enterprises) in strengthening the governance and performance of village economic services. This study stems from the urgency of addressing the competency mismatch in Cikalong BUMDes to make the organization more adaptive, accountable, and innovative. The research aims to analyze the implementation of competency-based HR planning and its supporting and inhibiting factors in optimizing performance. The theoretical study combines Competency Theory (Spencer & Spencer), Strategic Human Resource Management (Wright & McMahan), and performance theory (Campbell). The method used is a qualitative case study with data collection through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. Informants were selected purposively; analysis follows the interactive model of Miles and Huberman and triangulation. The findings indicate that competency mapping and appropriate role placement increase motivation, loyalty, and productivity, but are hampered by unclear competency standards, work culture resistance, and weak HR information systems. Consequently, competency-based planning needs to be positioned as a transformational, rather than administrative, strategy, consistently and sustainably.
