Abstract

The Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology has issued Circular Letter 4 of 2021 concerning implementing Face-to-face Learning for the Academic Year 2021/2022. Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) has responded by giving Circular Letter Number: B/11898/UN37/KM/2021 concerning hybrid Lectures for Odd Semester 2021/2022 in Universitas Negeri Semarang. Limited face-to-face lectures during the Covid-19 pandemic came up with many challenges and required rigorous preparation. It is because UNNES will not take any actions that put both its employees and students at risk. This study uses a qualitative research approach framework that describes a phenomenon and information related to implementing hybrid learning during the pandemic. UNNES has successfully implemented both preparation and implementation stages according to the guideline. No Covid-19 cases have been found caused by performing mixed class. However, there is still a concern about the absence of temporary isolation rooms for academics and students with Covid-19 symptoms/criteria. This part is compulsory based on the circular letter issued by The Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology. It has not been fulfilled yet in almost every department with a hybrid class.

Abstract

Leadership has always been a topic that has attracted the attention of researchers. The purpose of this literature review research is to know the participants’ characteristics in the articles, the type of measurement, the type of school leadership and their relevance to the management. A total of 11 articles in the period 2017-2022 were used to carry out this literature review taken from the Google scholar database with the help of Harzing’s Publish or Perish 8 software for data mining. The article search was done online using the keywords “school leadership management”. The literature review results show that the participants in this research were principals, teachers, students and family members. The setting of the studies is widely carried out in some countries, including Indonesia. The measurements used in the quantitative studies are questionnaires. However, interviews and focus group discussions were used in the qualitative approach. Most school leadership types in this literature review are instructional, transformational, and transactional. Instructional leaders were mainly focused on pedagogical issues. Meanwhile, the transformational implies mobilization and teacher participation. Moreover, transformational and transactional leadership were proven effective in conflict resolution. This show that leadership styles affect the success of school management.

Abstract

Computational thinking is an essential concept that has attracted the attention of early childhood educators over the last decade. However, not all kindergarten teachers have yet obtained information and ideas related to computational thinking skills. This study attempts to determine the effectiveness of active distance learning using a zoom video conference application in improving teachers' computational thinking skills. Furthermore, it also examines the teachers' progress in learning computational skills through online coding websites such as code.org and ScratchJr. A hundred and sixty-three kindergarten teachers from Central Java Province in Indonesia participated in the study. The study used a quantitative approach and employed a pre-experimental design, one group pretest and a post-test study. The data were gathered through pretest, post-test, and reflection of assignment records. We employed the Wilcoxon test because our data are on the ordinal scale. Wilcoxon signed-rank test was utilized to find out the significance of distance learning. The results show active distance learning effectively enhances teachers' computational thinking skills. Moreover, active distance learning provides an impressive experience to participants in improving their mastery of computational thinking.

Abstract

This study proposes a novel model for developing the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) based on gender relations. The model aims to improve teachers' understanding and implementation of P5 by incorporating gender equality principles. Employing a qualitative approach with a Research and Development method, the study gathers data through interviews and Focus Group Discussions with key stakeholders, including students, P5 facilitators, principals, and school supervisors in junior high schools across Boyolali, Madiun, Tuban, Yogyakarta City, and Balikpapan. Thematic analysis of the qualitative data guides the model development process. Anchored in the regulatory guidelines established by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, the model offers innovative instructions for teachers and P5 facilitators to integrate gender considerations into various aspects of P5 implementation. This includes forming balanced project groups, selecting resources free from gender bias, and designing learning activities that promote inclusivity and equity. The proposed model offers innovation by integrating gender relations at every stage of developing the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project, ensuring equal access, fair assessment, and materials that reflect gender diversity to strengthen inclusivity and equity in education.
