Abstract

Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia because the pancreas is unable to produce enough insulin and the body is unable to use insulin effectively. If diabetes mellitus is not treated properly, it will cause acute and chronic complications. Physical activity training is one of the non-pharmacological management of diabetes mellitus. One form of physical activity training is ergonomic gymnastics. This study aims to determine the effect of ergonomic exercises on blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes mellitus in Krembung Public Health Center. This research is a quantitative study using Pre-Experimental Design One Group Pre- Test Post-Test with 36 respondents. This study shows that there is a decrease in the average blood sugar level on the first day of 234 mg/dL to 209.5 mg/dL, on the second day the average blood sugar level from 211.5 mg/dL to 187.7 mg/dL while the average blood sugar level of the third meeting from 175.7 mg/dL to 148.8 mg/dL. Ergonomic gymnastics involves the main muscles that can make insulin receptors increase and more sensitive so as to reduce blood sugar levels. This is evidenced by the results of the analysis using the Paired T-Test test obtained a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05) which shows the effect of ergonomic exercises on blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes mellitus in Krembung Public Health Center. Based on the results of this study, ergonomic exercises are important to be done routinely in patients with diabetes mellitus to reduce blood sugar levels.

Abstract

Background: COVID-19, a strain of the coronavirus that causes acute respiratory syndrome, first appeared in the Chinese city of Wuhan and quickly spread throughout the world in early 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed health care systems around the world and affected the mental health of healthcare workers and their quality of life.Aim: to review the existing scientific evidence regarding mental health and quality of life of health workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: This study was taken from the pubmed, ScienceDirect, and Ebsco databases identified between December 2019 to July 2021 and was limited to peer-reviewed research written in English, quantitative research on mental health and quality of life with a cross sectional approach. Articles that fit the criteria are then analyzed using the critical appraisal tool that is appropriate for results of the research. Results: The results showed an increase in mental disorders, including stress, anxiety, depression, and PTSD in health workers. This is caused by several factors, namely 1) stressors that contribute to the work environment 2) work pressure components, 3) epidemic components, 4) family-related components. This condition can affect the quality of life of health workers. Conclusion: Research evaluating the direct and indirect association of mental disorders on the mental health of healthcare professionals is urgently needed to improve treatment, mental health care planning and for preventive measures during a potential next pandemic.

Abstract

The onset of menstruation will be a traumatic event for some children who do not prepare themselves in advance. School-aged children need information about the menstrual process and health during menstruation. Children will have difficulty facing their first menstruation if they have never known about it before. This shows that school age children need reproductive health education in facing menarche. However, in reality, many school-aged children still have relatively low knowledge of reproductive health. The aim of this research is to identify the need for reproductive education regarding menarche among elementary school students in Mojokerto City. This research method uses a descriptive analytical research design with a case sectional approach. Samples were taken based on purposive sampling. Data collection was carried out through interviews using a reproductive education needs questionnaire. From the research results, it was found that the high level of need for reproductive health education, especially information on menarche, was due to the absence of a curriculum in elementary schools that discussed this issue.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease characterized by randomly high blood sugar levels. Risk factors that can cause diabetes mellitus include stress, genetic factors, age, and a history of consuming alcohol. The simplest effort to control random blood sugar is by implementing stress management. But in reality, there are still many diabetes mellitus sufferers who cannot manage stress, resulting in random increases in blood sugar levels. This study aims to determine the relationship between stress levels and changes in random blood sugar levels in diabetes mellitus sufferers in the Mentikan Community Health Center, Mojokerto City. This research uses a correlation analytical method with a cross-sectional design. The total sample was 67 respondents taken using the purposive sampling technique. The Spearman Rho test results showed a value of 0.001 < α 0.05, so it can be concluded that there is a relationship between stress levels and random changes in blood sugar levels in diabetes mellitus sufferers. Meanwhile, the correlation coefficient figure shows a value of 0.663, which means the relationship between stress levels and random changes in blood sugar levels is strong. Stress can increase random blood glucose levels because stress stimulates the body to release the hormones cortisol and epinephrine. These two hormones have a strong effect in causing the process of gluconeogenesis, so that it will increase random blood glucose levels by large amounts within a few minutes. It is hoped that good stress management can control sufferers' sugar levels so as to create a better quality of life for Diabetes Millitus sufferers.

Abstract

Introduction: Parental empowerment in monitoring adolescents plays a crucial role in preventing health-risk behaviors. This research aimed to develop a model of parental empowerment against the prevention of health risk behavior (PE-HRB) in adolescents based on the theory of health promotion model. Methods: The research design used was an explanative survey method. The research population was parents who have adolescent children in East Java and able to access online questionnaires. Consecutive sampling obtained a large sample of 704 respondents from July - September 2020. Questionnaires were distributed online using the online Zoho platform and distributed to parents. The data analysis used a smart PLS (Partial Least Squares) statistical test with significance level T>1.96. Results: Personal factors positively and significantly influenced cognition and affect (T=2.82;p=0.005). Cognition and affection variables influence on parental empowerment (T=5.19; p=<.001). Cognition and affection have no effect on preventive behavior (T=1.49; p=.135). Parental empowerment is an important point in shaping preventive behavior. Conclusions: Empowerment is a factor that significantly affects the formation of parental behavior without going through commitment variables. Parental involvement in adolescents' academic and personal lives is an important aspect to prevent health-risk behavior in adolescents. Cognition and affection variables cannot directly form preventive behavior but must go through parental empowerment pathways to form preventive behavior. Parental empowerment has no effect on commitment, but commitment affects prevention behavior. Empowering parents is a topic that can be used as material in health education in primary health services.
