Abstract

"> The objective of this research is to perceive the extent of students’ understanding about the usage of punctuation mark based on Ejaan Yang Disempurnakan(EYD). The research was held at Economy Faculty of UNIMED particularly at Accounting A class of 2012 with 34 students as the population and 20 students as random-choosing sample. The technique of data gathering was by asking the sample to answer an understanding test which containing 10 questions about puctuation mark concept which was covered by sentences. The method of the research is qualitative descriptive. The research result described only 25% of the sample which completely understand of the punctuation mark based on Ejaan Yang Disempurnakan(EYD), whereas 10% of the sample which understand, 20% of the sample which quite understand, and the highest percentage - 45%- is taken by the sample which lack of understanding of punctuation mark. We canconclude that the students are lack of understanding about the usage of punctuation mark based on Ejaan Yang Disempurnakan(EYD). It is possibly caused by interruption at teaching-learning activity or lack of practice to sharpen the understanding after teaching-learning activity. It is expected that the interruption which possibly arise couldbe reduced andfor the students to keep learning and improve the understanding about punctuation mark because it would assist the readers to comprehend the meaning that writers try to deliver.Keywords: Punctuation mark, EYD, Accounting A class.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The type of the research is Classroom Action Research. This research is aimed to improve grade V students’ fast reading ability by using Speed Reading Method at State Primary School 101800 Deli Tua, Deli Tua Subdistrict, Deli Serdang Regency, Academic Year 2012. Data collecting is done as follow : (1) reading speed test, (2) reading comprehension test, (3) then data improvement is done by through Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with grade V primary school teachers to know the students’ reading obstacles. In pre-cycle test, the students’ achievement result is very low. Class Va is in good category with the average of students’ fast reading is 155 wpm and the reading comprehension ability is 85%. In class Vb, the average of students’ fast reading is 167 wpm and the reading comprehension ability is 86% which is in good category. In cycle II, the improvement of students’ fast reading ability is 76,6%. And the improvement of students’ reading comprehension ability is 76%. It means that the speed reading method can be applied to improve students’ fast reading and reading comprehension ability. Keywords: Fast reading, speed reading method, primary school students

Abstract

ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian kali ini ialah untuk mengetahui apakah guru di sekolah SMP Negeri Percut Sei Tuan mampu menjalankan kompetensi profesional guru dalam mengelola program belajar mengajar yaitu mampu melaksanakan dan merumuskan tujuan konstruksional dan dapat menggunakan metode mengajar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif, yaitu prosedur penelitian yang menggunakan data deskriptif berupa kata – kata tertulis atau lisan dari orang – orang dan pelaku yang dapat diamati. Berdasarkan mini riset ini ditemukan ada guru di SMP Negeri 6 Percut Sei Tuan belum mampu menjalankan dan melaksanakan rumusan tujuan instruksional dan belum mampu menggunakan metode mengajar yang baik. Simpulan yang didapat dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa masih terdapat guru yang belum memenuhi salah satu kompetensi profesional guru dalam mengelola program belajar mengajar yaitu dalam menjalankan dan melaksanakan rumusan tujuan instruksional dan menggunakan metode mengajar yang baik dan tepat. Sebaiknya hal ini tidak terjadi lagi pada guru dan calon guru.   Kata Kunci: Kompetensi profesional guru, tujuan instruksional, metode mengajar
