A staticwork position with sitting is common work posture founded in industry, particularly small industryin Indonesia. The problem that review in this paper is the activity of workers sitting static for processingemping in Yogyakarta. Activity done by means sitting on the floor without using table. The activity carriedin a continuous long term, so as to cause disease risks muscle and bone especially lower back. Ergonomic workfacilities is implemented to solve the work problem with table and chair. The design of work table is developedwith concept low cost improvement and consider with secure, health, and convenience of worker. The designprocess using participatory approach by involving worker to get best design. The result of facilities implementationcan be achieved a decrease ih the risk of work. The potential risk of work posture can be repair thatshown of the RULA score from 6 to 4, and no more complain the back and waist from worker activity.

The study was originated from the result of observation on production activity of small food industries in Yogyakarta that showed various awkward postures. Awkward posture will lead to continual static loading on soft tissue which potentially cause musculoskeletal disorders and further will affect worker productivity and performance. The aims of the study were to identify and characterize musculoskeletal symptoms among small food industry worker in Yogyakarta. The subjects of this study were one hundred worker of small food industry in Yogyakarta. The identification used standardized Nordic Questionnaire to evaluate musculoskeletal symptoms on 28 body parts in two time periods: recent twelve months and recent seven days. The result of this study indicated that 100% participants reported experiencing discomfort at least in one body part in the previous twelve months and 89% of them reported the same thing in the seven-day period. Statistical analysis showed significant difference between musculoskeletal symptoms taking place in the twelve-month period and those in the seven-day period. Musculoskeletal symptoms primarily took place on waist. The lowest prevalence for twelve-month period and seven-day one were left elbow (29%) and left leg (5%), respectively.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze work system improvements of home industries in Yogyakarta City, based on participatory ergonomics approach. WISH (Work Improvement for Safe Home) action checklisthas been used as the instrument to analyse and evaluate the working conditions. WISH programme isan action manual published by ILO (International Labour Organization) to improve work conditions ofhome manufacturing by using a participatory approach. The working conditions in WISH action checklistcovers five aspects; i.e. materials storage and handling, machine safety, work stations, physical environment, and welfare facilities and work organization. The early step in this study was identification of generalcharacteristics of home industries in Yogyakarta City. The results of identification were used as input indeveloping improvement actions. Analysis was done to determine the priority among all improvement aspectsand improvement actions based on WISH action checklist. The findings show the most priority aspect ofimprovement was Work Stations aspects with index priority 0.172. The action needed for the most priorityimprovement aspect was developed by consideration of home industries characteristics.

Awkward posture will lead continual static loading on soft tissue which potentially cause musculoskeletal disorders and further will affect worker productivity and performance. The aim of the study was to analyze the risk level of musculoskeletal hazard among small food industries in Yogyakarta. The subjects of this study were 112 jobs performed in 16 small food industries in Yogyakarta. Risk level assessment used Baseline Risk Identification of Ergonomic Factors (BRIEF) Survey checklist which evaluate musculoskeletal risk of 9 body parts include posture, force, duration and frequency. The result of this study revealed 38 jobs (33.9%) without high level risk of all body parts and 74 jobs (66.1%) with high risk level in at least one body part. The highest prevalence of high risk level was for neck (36 jobs) and the highest prevalence of low risk level was for left elbow (79 jobs). Statistical analysis showed that there was significant difference of musculoskeletal risk level among 16 industries observed. The study recommended the awareness and proper hazard control to the industries.

Restaurants should provide services that enable satisfy their customers. The study was conducted in a local Taiwan restaurant. The restaurant has been running since 2015 and, so far, has not shown significant progress. Service blueprinting was used to identify where substances could be improved and where customer satisfaction problems occurred. The purposes of the study are (1) to identify the service process by service blueprinting, (2) to find the potential failure points of the existing service process, and (3) to propose possible solutions to the failure points. The results show two categories of potential failures were recognized, i.e., receiving- delivering orders and waiting for food. The substitute order mechanism is proposed as the solution.
