Abstract

Malaria infection during pregnancy can cause accumulation of infected-red blood cells in placental intervillous space and induces placental tissue inflammation and hypoxia. This condition triggers endoglin expression, and release of soluble endoglin which can interfere TGF-β binding to its receptor. The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between placental endoglin expression and TGF-β level with low fetal weight (LFW) in malaria-infected mice. Nine pregnant mice infected with Plasmodium berghei on the day 9th post mating (malaria infected group) and eight normal pregnant mice (non-infected group) were used in this study. The mice were sacrificed on the day 18th post mating, and all fetal body weights were measured by analytical scale. Enzyme Link Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) was done to determine the level of placental TGF-β while immunohistochemical staining was performed to examine endoglin expression in placental tissue. The mean of fetal body weights of malaria infected group was significantly lower than non-infected group (p=0,002), while the expression of placental endoglin in malaria infected group was significantly higher than non-infected group (p=0.003). The level of placental TGF-β in malaria infected group was also higher than non-infected group but the difference was not significant (p=0.064). Pearson correlation test showed that there were significant negative correlations between fetal body weights with the level of placental TGF-β (p=0.017, r=-0.568) and the expression of placental endoglin (p=0.002, r=-0.694). Malaria infection in pregnant mice will increase both TGF- β and endoglin in placenta tissue and correlate with low fetal weight.

Abstract

Introduction: Low intake of fruits and vegetables among adolescents is a common problem related to adolescent consumption behaviour that can increase the risk of degenerative diseases and health problems. The study aimed to determine media exposure and pocket money with fruit and vegetable consumption at SMA Negeri 19 Surabaya. Method: The research used an quantitative observational cross-sectional with asample was 100 students selected proportionally using stratified random sampling. Result: 69% of students had adequate fruit and vegetable consumption. 32.2% of students never consume vegetables,and 36.1% of students consume fruit 1x/week. This research showed there were significant relationships between media exposure and fruit and vegetable consumption (p=0.008), however not by pocket money(p=0,289). Conclusion: School has an important role in awareness and practice of fruit and vegetable consumption among adolescents. Use of attractive information media can be used to increase consumption, so that adolescents' dietary fiber needs are met.

Abstract

Health education with the theme of developmental screening of pre-school children is a necessity, so that teachers have adequate knowledge and skills. SDIDTK is a basic and very easy effort to detect early delays in child development. Through early detection, deviations in children's growth and development can be seen. PAUD as a place of formal education for early childhood, the second place of growth and development stimulation after the family. To know the development that children have achieved, regular assessment of growth and development is needed so that it can be detected early and early stimulation and intervention can be carried out. So it is important for teachers to know about how to screen for early detection and intervention of child growth and development. With the implementation of health education on pre-school children's growth and development screening in BA Basin, it is proven to increase teachers' knowledge of screening and early detection of children's growth and development. The average knowledge before the health education was 10.71 points increased to 14.15 points.

Abstract

Adolescence is a vulnerable period for experiencing stress, which can influence eating behavior, particularly emotional eating. Emotional eating refers to an individual's tendency to consume food in response to emotions, both negative and positive. This study aims to analyze the relationship between stress and emotional eating among adolescents at SMAN 5 Surabaya. This research employs a cross-sectional design with a sample of 142 students from grades X and XI, selected using the cluster random sampling technique. Stress levels were measured using the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS)-10 questionnaire, while emotional eating was assessed using the Salzburg Emotional eating Scale (SEES) questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman Rank test. The majority of respondents had a moderate level of stress (78.2%) and a low level of emotional eating (69.7%). The analysis results indicate a significant relationship between stress and emotional eating (p-value = 0.000) with a correlation coefficient (r = -0.290), indicating a weak negative correlation. Most respondents experienced emotional under-eating, where they tended to reduce food intake when experiencing stress. The conclusion drawn is that there is a significant relationship between stress and emotional eating among adolescents at SMAN 5 Surabaya, with a tendency toward emotional under-eating. Effective stress management is necessary to prevent negative impacts on adolescents' eating patterns.

Abstract

Status gizi merupakan refleksi asupan yang berasal dari konsumsi makanan sumber energi, karbohidrat, protein, dan lemak secara keseluruhan. Konsumsi makanan tinggi kalori namun rendah kandungan zat gizi seperti makanan kemasan dapat mempengaruhi status gizi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan tingkat konsumsi makanan kemasan dengan status gizi siswa di SMPN 1 Pasongsongan. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah cross sectional dengan metode pengambilan data menggunakan convenience sampling. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa SMPN 1 Pasongsongan dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 58 siswa. Data penelitian diperoleh dengan menggunakan lembar SQ-FFQ untuk tingkat konsumsi makanan kemasan serta pengukuran tinggi badan dan berat badan secara aktual menggunakan microtoise dan timbangan digital untuk status gizi. Analisis bivariat diuji dengan uji korelasi spearman rho. Rata-rata konsumsi energi, karbohidrat dan lemak dari makanan kemasan responden berada dalam kategori tinggi (>25%). Status Gizi mayoritas responden berada pada kategori gizi baik (63,8%). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan antara tingkat konsumsi makanan kemasan dengan status gizi siswa di SMPN 1 Pasongsongan (p-value >0,05).

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Masa remaja merupakan masa peralihan dari anak – anak ke dewasa. Pada usia ini remaja mengalami perubahan fisik dan psikis serta mulai sadar akan bentuk tubuhnya yang dapat mempengaruhi persepsi mengenai body image khususnya remaja putri. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara body image dengan status gizi pada remaja putri di SMA Labschool UNESA 1. Bahan dan Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain cross-sectional dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari 71 siswi kelas XI dan XII menggunakan metode convenience sampling. Data body image diukur menggunakan kuesioner Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ-34), sedangkan status gizi diukur berdasarkan Indeks Massa Tubuh (IMT/U). Analisis data dengan program SPSS menggunakan uji Spearman rho Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukan mayoritas remaja memiliki body image positif dengan status gizi baik 53,5%. Kemudian 22,5% memiliki body image negatif dengan status gizi lebih. Hasil korelasi menunjukkan adanya hubungan signifikan antara body image dan status gizi (p = 0,000; r = 0,704). Kesimpulan: Terdapat hubungan positif dan kuat antara body image dan status gizi. Kata kunci : Remaja Putri, Body Image, Status Gizi
