Abstract

Conflicts of interest are inevitable when the natural potential is harnessed in mining. This happened in Seluma Regency, Bengkulu Province, Indonesia, in a conflict due to the impact of iron sand mining involving the community, mine owners, and the government. Mining always intersects with environmental degradation, which leads to disaster triggers. This is also inseparable from the media attention shown in its reporting. The purpose of this study is to determine the role of the media in preventing potential disaster events, specifically related to reporting on mining conflicts in the iron sand mines in the Seluma district. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The analysis method was carried out using a framing analysis from Robert N. Abstract

This study aims to determine the commodification process carried out in children's content through the perspective of media political economy. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The analysis was carried out using semiotic analysis from John Fiske which divided the levels of analysis into 3 levels, namely reality, representation and ideology. The subjects in this study were children's content in youtube shows. The objects in this study were selected using purposive sampling techniques. The results of the analysis showed that child-laden impressions became an attractive commodity. The naivety, purity, and spontaneity of children steal the attention of the audience. Creating shows containing highly sensitive parenting issues in Indonesia is a form of commodification of content. Making children objects in impressions is part of the commodification of workers. The audience also works to donate by providing views and likes which are then sold by content creators to advertisers to get endorsed products which will then again use the child as an endorser. Leaving aside things that contain information and education, prioritize revenue targets by selling sensations. In the end, content containing children is no different from other content that is oriented towards material profit alone.

The spread of false information or hoaxes on social media has become a serious issue, disrupting public trust and causing confusion. In an era where information is often questioned and twisted, the post-truth phenomenon has become increasingly prominent. This study aims to analyze comment interactions on the Instagram account @turnbackhoaxid within the context of post-truth, focusing on emotions and personal beliefs regarding netizens' responses to information verification. The research employs a netnographic approach and qualitative descriptive methods, with data collected from comments on several hoax clarification posts uploaded by @turnbackhoaxid. The analysis reveals that comment interactions are significantly influenced by users' emotions and personal beliefs. Findings include various patterns such as supportive comments, sarcasm, emotional responses, and accusations against @turnbackhoaxid. These interactions often reflect the echo chamber phenomenon, where individuals are more likely to seek information that reinforces their own beliefs. This study underscores the importance of digital literacy in combating hoaxes and misinformasi. The results indicate that although interactions are predominantly supportive of the provided clarifications, skepticism, distrust, and information manipulation still color the comment interactions. Therefore, this research suggests the need for more effective educational strategies to enhance individuals' ability to critically assess information in the face of challenges in the post-truth era.
