Abstract

This research aims to determine 1) the effect of the composition of red meranti and terentang sawmill waste to physical and mechanical properties of wood dust cement board according to SNI 03-2105-2006 and 2) determine the physical and mechanical properties of red meranti and terentang sawmill waste particle cement board the best based on SNI standards. The research method used a single factor Completely Randomized Design with five levels, namely A1(100% red meranti), A2(100% terentang), A3(50% red meranti: 50% terentang), A4(75% red meranti: 25% terentang) and A5 (25% red meranti: 75% terentang) using sawdust: cement ratio of 1:2, each treatment was repeated three times so that the number of sawdust cement boards made were fifteen pieces of sawdust cement board. The test parameters are physical properties (density, moisture content and thickness swelling) and mechanical properties (MoE, MoR and screw holding). Next, test the data for normality using Kolmogrov-Smirnov (SPSS 24). The results of research on the treatment of the composition of sawdust from red meranti and terentang using a cement sawdust ratio of 1:2 not significant effect on the physical and mechanical properties of sawdust cement board, because the specific gravity of red meranti wood and terentang did not significant different. The physical properties of sawdust cement board meet SNI 03-2105-2006, the best treatment was A1 (100% red meranti wood) for water content (9.09%) and thickness swelling (1.53%) while for density the best is in A4 powder composition (75 %: 25%, red meranti: terentang). The overall average value of mechanical properties does not meet SNI 03-2105-2006.

Abstract

The cultivation of swamp jelutong plants on peat swamp land has been widely practiced by communities in Central Kalimantan Province. However, jelutong cultivation efforts are prone to failure due to various factors such as land fires and other factors. The Indonesian government through the Ministry of Forestry in 2003-2005 carried out the Forest and Land Rehabilitation Movement, which involved planting unproductive land in state forest areas and community forests with local species such as jelutong, pulai, balangeran and other species. After almost 20 years of planting Jelutung, information related to the growth and sap potential of Jelutung swamp is not yet available. The purpose of the study was to analyze the potential growth of diameter and height of jelutong plants. This research was conducted for 3 months from October-December 2023. The location of the research was specifically carried out in Jabiren Raya Sub-district (Jelutung plantation of Mr. Margo) and (Jelutung plantation in Jabiren) Pulang Pisau District. The method used to study the dynamics of jelutong plant growth and sap potential was purposive sampling, by selecting and determining jelutong plants based on the age class of jelutong plants with a sampling intensity of ± 5% of the area, the measurement results were analyzed through correlation regression tests in the form of tables and graphs. The results of research conducted in 2 locations show the results of measurements of diameter and height growth of jelutong plants.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and map the level of soil erosion vulnerability in Tewah Sub District, Gunung Mas Regency, Central Kalimantan Province. Identification of the level of soil erosion vulnerability was carried out using parameters of slope, soil type, rainfall and land cover. Field surveys were conducted to collect data on the area of tree canopy cover at each level of erosion vulnerability. The results of the study indicate that in Tewah Sub District, which is included in the Kahayan Sub-Watershed have 5 levels of soil erosion vulnerability with categories of not vulnerable, less vulnerable, quite vulnerable, vulnerable and very vulnerable. Furthermore, it is known that ±50.23% of the research location area is included in the category of quite vulnerable and only ±0.29% is included in the category of not vulnerable. The value of tree canopy cover has a significant effect on the level of soil erosion vulnerability. The higher the area of tree canopy cover, the lower the level of erosion vulnerability. Thus, it can be concluded that erosion vulnerability due to lack of forest cover, especially in Tewah Sub District, must be a priority in handling to support the carrying capacity of the environmental ecosystem.

Abstract

ABSTRACTS The Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) Program is a global initiative aimed at reducing carbon emissions from the forestry sector. Central Kalimantan has served as a pilot province for REDD+ implementation in Indonesia since 2007 through various initiatives led by the government and international organizations. This study aims to analyze the initial implementation dynamics of REDD+ in Central Kalimantan in 2007, focusing on policies, implementing actors, and key challenges encountered. The research applies a descriptive qualitative approach, using literature review and policy document analysis. The results indicate that the period 2007–2012 was the readiness phase, during which institutional and policy frameworks were developed; the period 2013–2014 marked the implementation phase; and the period 2016 to the present represents the result-based payment phase. However, the early implementation faced several major challenges, including limited inter-agency coordination, low technical capacity, and weak synchronization between national and regional policies. Despite these obstacles, the early stage of REDD+ implementation in Central Kalimantan has provided an important foundation for the future development of climate and forest governance policies in Indonesia. Abstract

The watershed has a strategic role in maintaining hydrological balance, ecosystem integrity, and community welfare. However, the Rungan watershed is under threat from deforestation and ecosystem damage, therefore a study is needed that considers all related aspects as the basis for making a management strategy for the Rungan watershed. This study aims to find out the priority problems faced by the Watershed Rungan and the aspects of its causes. Furthermore, this research also seeks to formulate priority solutions that can overcome the problems faced by the Rungan watershed. Using qualitative and quantitative approaches, this study applies the Analytical Network Process (ANP) in formulating the priority strategy for the management of the Watershed.  This study found that ecological problems are considered the main problem. Alternative solutions that have been successfully formulated include ecological restoration, economic recovery, and institutional strengthening and coordination between stakeholders. Zoning regulation is a priority for area management and is the main strategy for the management of the Rungan watershed by regulating various programs such as forest rehabilitation, ecotourism, and environmentally friendly land use. For these programs to be carried out in a synergistic manner, it is necessary to coordinate and synergize programs between relevant stakeholders.
