Abstract

Abstract

Purun is one of the Non-Timber Forest Products that comes from peat swamp forests. This plant grows wild and is used by communities around the forest to make various handicraft products as a side income. This research aims to analyze Purun's prospects as an NTFP to support the economy of communities around peat swamp forests. There are three research locations, namely Petuk Katimpun Village, Kalampangan Village, and Tumbang Nusa Village. The sampling method was purposive sampling, namely people who were purun craftsmen and lived close to the purun growing area. Data analysis uses SWOT analysis. The research results show that the prospect of Purun as a non-timber forest product (NTFP) to support the economy of communities around peat swamp forests in the three research locations is in a strategic position, namely at the cut-off point (0.569; 0.684), precisely in the first quadrant (I). The alternative strategy used is the SO (Strength and opportunities) strategy, namely utilizing Purun NTFPs; creating markets and promotions; increasing Human Resources (HR) through training and forming Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) groups. Based on these results, the policy that is expected is to support the use of Purun NTFPs by the community, by providing counseling, training and outreach so that Purun Purun products can compete with other NTFP products.

Abstract

Tumbang Nusa Village, Jabiren District, Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan community groups have been formed into the Nusa Sehati Peat Ecosystem Protection Control Working Team (TKPPEG). They serve as partners in managing peat ecosystem protection. Alongside peat ecosystem conservation, improving the community's economy is essential. One initiative is the cultivation of kelulut bees (Trigona Sp), which has not been optimally implemented, particularly in technical beekeeping and honey marketing. Thus, the kelulut cultivation business was developed through the Community Empowerment Lecturer Program (PDPPM) at the University of Palangka Raya. The program's objectives include increasing kelulut honey production, enhancing online marketing, and creating product branding. The implementation involved training, field practice, and mentoring. As a result, lulus bees cultivated with a two-week harvest cycle produced approximately 14.5 liters of honey. Branding efforts allowed Kelulut Honey to compete better in the market, and marketing was conducted via WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook. In conclusion, community partners succeeded in cultivating kelulut honeybees, created branding, and adopted online marketing techniques. Their beekeeping skills improved, and they learned the importance of logos, packaging, and product narratives. This extended their market reach, increased sales, and allowed access to non-local consumers.

Abstract

Rattan is a type of palm tree that grows in tropical climates. Rattan currently has a low price level with limited rattan raw materials. However, rattan collectors continue to buy rattan from farmers and provide jobs for their workers with low wages, but rattan workers continue to work. Based on this background, research was conducted which aimed to analyze the level of worker welfare based on the Regional Minimum Wage (UMR) and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS); as well as knowing workers' perceptions of their level of welfare at UD Putra Harapan. The data collection method uses observation and structured interviews with key respondents. Data analysis uses a Likert Scale to measure respondents' perceptions and uses analysis of worker welfare levels based on UMR and BPS. The research results show: the level of welfare of workers does not meet the minimum wage individually, but if we look at each household, the respondent's income exceeds the minimum wage. Meanwhile, based on BPS, the level of worker welfare is included in the high classification. The perception of rattan workers at UD Putra Harapan states that their level of welfare is relatively good.

Abstract

The cultivation of swamp jelutong plants on peat swamp land has been widely practiced by communities in Central Kalimantan Province. However, jelutong cultivation efforts are prone to failure due to various factors such as land fires and other factors. The Indonesian government through the Ministry of Forestry in 2003-2005 carried out the Forest and Land Rehabilitation Movement, which involved planting unproductive land in state forest areas and community forests with local species such as jelutong, pulai, balangeran and other species. After almost 20 years of planting Jelutung, information related to the growth and sap potential of Jelutung swamp is not yet available. The purpose of the study was to analyze the potential growth of diameter and height of jelutong plants. This research was conducted for 3 months from October-December 2023. The location of the research was specifically carried out in Jabiren Raya Sub-district (Jelutung plantation of Mr. Margo) and (Jelutung plantation in Jabiren) Pulang Pisau District. The method used to study the dynamics of jelutong plant growth and sap potential was purposive sampling, by selecting and determining jelutong plants based on the age class of jelutong plants with a sampling intensity of ± 5% of the area, the measurement results were analyzed through correlation regression tests in the form of tables and graphs. The results of research conducted in 2 locations show the results of measurements of diameter and height growth of jelutong plants.
