Abstract

Aesthetic education is an aspect of art education in schools whose implementation is very diverse. The diversity in the implementation is thought to be due to differences in the teacher’s ideology on aesthetic education. The teacher's perception of aesthetic education must be influenced by the ideology he/she embraces. Therefore, field research is needed to provide an explanation of the teacher’s ideology and the implementation of aesthetic education at school. Problems to be solved through this research were (1) how is the ideology and understanding of teacher’s art about aesthetic education and (2) how is the implementation of aesthetic education at school. This research utilized a qualitative approach with cultural ecology model. Data were collected by observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The target of this research was art and culture teachers of Junior High School in Semarang. The results showed that in carrying out the learning of art and culture all teachers refer to the school-based (KTSP) curriculum and the 2013 Curriculum. Almost all art and cultural teachers carry out the learning process in accordance with the guidelines of the curriculum although they still adjust to school conditions. According to the art and culture teachers, in fact, the substance of the two curricula is not very much different; both are based on students and learning strategies using a scientific approach. In addition to providing an aesthetic experience to students, art education is also very appropriate as a means of character education for the nation.

Abstract

Culture may transgress geopolitical boundaries. these days, especially when the survival of a certain community is under the threat of global political power, the need to overemphasize cultural uniqueness arises more strongly. Tradition is ambiguous and multi-interpretable, depending on the frame of interpretation, interest, power, and above all, on the dialectical encounter of ‘translation’: only in relation with something other and different, particular aspect of the tradition comes up. More than simply a matter of ‘transmission’, tradition is in fact a process of on-going ‘transformation’ and ‘reinterpretation’. The world becames a huge stage where multiple waves of existence intersect and realize the complexity, ambiguity and subtlety of each other’s world and of their own. In the interaction self-interrogation and mutual self-criticism take place, in which the participating cultures are called into question. In such global stage, cultures would weave and reweave their conceptual networks continually. The world cultural stage today is a never-ending conversation where traditions are not only rearticulated thereby, but also reinvented, and extended to their unpredictable potentialities in terms of new contexts. Culture lives in the conjunctions of our grammar of conversation happening on the stage.

Abstract

This research wants to see how locations, especially overseas locations are interpreted in scientific articles. The purpose of this study is to see how the meaning of location in Indonesian films is discussed academically outside of its function as an entertainment medium. The methodology used in this research is literary study. This method includes collecting data from various sources such as books, scientific articles, and press releases of Indonesian film using overseas location, and data analysis to determine how cosmopolitanism discourse appears in Indonesian films. This research underscores the importance of considering films as a representation of the desires of Indonesian audiences through the choice of locations chosen and how these locations function in the cinematic narrative.

Abstract

This study interpreted Ahmad Sadali’s Islamic art poetics as a conceptual and pedagogical framework for spiritually grounded art education. Drawing on Sadali’s writings and artworks, the study employed a narrative literature review with hermeneutic analysis to explore how his creative process, rooted in tawhid (Islamic monotheism), contemplation, and inner spirituality, can inform contemporary Islamic art pedagogy. Sadali views artistic creation as visual dhikr (remembrance of God), emphasizing the intrinsic-internal environment as the source of creativity. His approach bridges aesthetics and spirituality, positioning art as a worship medium and moral reflection. The study found that integrating Sadali’s poetics into arts education promotes character formation, spiritual awareness, and ethical sensitivity, offering a transformative learning model. It concludes that Sadali’s thought provides theoretical and methodological contributions to value-based Islamic art education, aligning artistic practice with deeper metaphysical and cosmological understanding.
