Abstract

Science and technology are two things that cannot be separated from human life. Almost all aspects of human life today have been touched by technological products which are the application of scientific concepts, STM is a learning model that can invite students to find new ideas or ideas that exist in society so that they can make students active and motivated. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the science and technology community (STM) approach to student learning outcomes on the concept of ecosystems. The method used in this study is a quantitative descriptive experimental method. The results obtained are the tcount value of 5.80, with a significant level of α = 0.05 and dk = 68, the value of t(1- α) = t(0.95)(68) = is 1.67. The conclusion of this study shows that students who are taught using the STM approach have better learning outcomes than those who do not use the STM approach to the ecosystem concept at SMA Negeri 1 Seunagan, Nagan Raya Regency.

Abstract

Humans can form a community with a certain diversity of plant species according to the desired environment, such as ornamental plants and protective plants in yard.  The yard of residents’ houses in Cot Gut Village, Nagan Raya Regency, have many diverse plant species, especially from the ornamental plant group. However, these ornamental plants have not been taxonomically recorded and inventoried. This study aims to determine the species richness and the level of diversity of ornamental plant species found in the yards of residents in Cot Gut, Nagan Raya. Data collection used a field survey method, to see the richness of ornamental plant species found in the research location. Data from the field were analyzed using the Shannon – Wiener Diversity Index. The results obtained were 20 Species of ornamental plants from 18 families with a total number of 269 individual ornamental plants from 20 yards of residents’ houses in Cot Gut Village, East Seunagan District, Nagan Raya. The Species Diversity Index (H') value of ornamental plants in the yards of residents' houses in Cot Gut Village, Nagan Raya are 2.723.

Abstract

Functional beverages based on fermentation are increasingly in demand as public awareness of the importance of preventive health increases. Kombucha coffee, an innovation from coffee fermentation using bacterial and yeast cultures (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast or SCOBY), offers a combination of the benefits of coffee and traditional kombucha. This article examines the potential of kombucha coffee as a functional beverage that contributes to improving the immune system and maintaining the balance of gut microbiota. The fermentation process produces probiotics, organic acids, and other bioactive compounds that play an important role in strengthening the body's defenses and modulating the immune response through the gut-immune axis. In addition, the natural antioxidant content of fermented coffee can reduce oxidative stress and support digestive tract health. Literature studies show that consuming kombucha coffee has the potential to increase the population of beneficial bacteria in the intestine, inhibit pathogens, and improve the integrity of the intestinal barrier. These findings indicate that kombucha coffee has great prospects as an alternative functional beverage that supports holistic health. Further studies are needed to understand the specific biological mechanisms and standardization of production to ensure the safety and consistency of its benefits. Keywords: kombucha coffee, immune system, gut microbiota, fermentation, antioxidants

Abstract

Gampong Lambaro Skep is one of the villages in Kuta Alam district in Banda Aceh which has a mangrove ecosystem. Aquatic fauna community is one of the significant components of mangrove forest ecosystem. In order to fill the availability of biodiversity data which is basic prerequisite for developing knowledge and utilizing biodiversity in Aceh, accordingly research was conducted on the Diversity of Aquatic Fauna Species of Mangrove Ecosystem in Gampong Lambaro Skep Kuta Alam, Banda Aceh. The objective of this research is to determine the species richness and the level of diversity of aquatic fauna in the mangrove ecosystem in Gampong Lambaro Skep Kuta Alam, Banda Aceh. Samples were collected using the quadrate sampling method with destructive sampling techniques for aquatic fauna that occupy muddy mud or sand substrates. Meanwhile, samples for aquatic fauna that occupy hard substrates such as roots and trunks of mangrove trees were collected using the quadrat sampling method with a non-destructive sampling technique. Samples for aquatic fauna that occupy water column were collected with the exploring method using fishing nets. Data were analysed using the Shannon-Wiener diversity index. The results of the research show that there are 11 Species of aquatic fauna in the mangrove ecosystem in Gampong Lambaro Skep Kuta Alam, Banda Aceh. The level of diversity of aquatic fauna species in the mangrove ecosystem in Gampong Lambaro Skep Kuta Alam Banda Aceh is classified as moderate (H'= 2.058).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the types of animals from the mollusca phylum, habitat and to make the types of animals from the mollusca phylum as references in the Invertebrate Zoology course which is designed in the form of a pocket book. This research was started from April to June 2016, sampling of the phylum Mollusca was carried out in the Meuraxa District area of Banda Aceh city. In this study, sampling was carried out using the plot method and transect method in three predetermined observation areas. The first observation area is in the village of Alue Deah Tengoeh, the second area is in the village of Cot Lamkuweuh, and the third area is in the village of Lamjabat. Data analysis was carried out by describing each type of animal found in the Mollusca phylum. Furthemore, to determine the level of diversity of animal species from Mollusca phylum found in Meuraxa District, Banda Aceh city, the Shannon Wiener (H) diversity index was used. The results showed that the types of animals from the Mollusca phylum were 276 individuals consisting of 2 classes, 8 ordo and 11 families with 16 spesies. The results of the analysis of the diversity index shaw the value of H = 1.601, which means that the diversity level of Mollusca phylum in the Meuraxa District, Banda Aceh City is moderate, with an evenness index of E = 0.5 which means that the distribution of each type of animal from Mullusca phylum in each research area is relatively evenly distributed.
