Abstract

AbstractThe development of information and communication (ICT) technology is not accompanied by an increase in media literacy and critical thinking of the community. This phenomenon causes a gap between the advancement of ICT and people's ability to receive, process and manage information obtained from the Internet. It affects many aspects of life, especially the resilience of information and the utilization of information in everyday life. For this reason, media literacy education in schools is expected to be a solution. The method is to provide media literacy training for high school teachers by emphasizing the development of critical thinking methods. This training is developed from a tular nalar program, a media literacy curriculum as a means of realizing exercises for critical thinking embodied in various learning tools. After training, teachers are accompanied to implement the curriculum in the classroom. The results showed an increase in teacher competence in media literacy. There are positive changes in the teacher's knowledge, attitudes, and behavior in the use of information before and after training. In addition, some teachers have been able to adapt the curriculum tular nalar with the curriculum in school. However, it was found that some teachers still have difficulty in implementing the curriculum in the school. Difficulties are caused by technological stuttering, a lack of ability to adapt the curriculum into an existing curriculum, and networkrelated technical problems. The reasoning program is very well used to complement the current curriculum, but it needs simpler techniques so that the curriculum can be integrated through advanced training for teachers. AbstrakPerkembangan terknologi informasi dan komunikasi (TIK) tidak dibarengi dengan peningkatan literasi media dan daya berpikir kritis masyarakat. Fenomena ini menyebabkan kesenjangan antara kemajuan TIK dan kemampuan masyarakat dalam menerima, mengolah dan mengelola informasi yang didapatkan dari Internet. Hal tersebut mempengaruhi banyak aspek dalam kehidupan utamanya ketahanan informasi dan pemanfaatan informasi dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Untuk itu pendidikan literasi media di sekolah diharapkan dapat menjadi solusi. Metode yang dilakukan adalah memberikan pelatihan literasi media untuk guru SMA dengan menekankan pada pengembangan cara berpikir kritis. Pelatihan ini dikembangkan dari program tular nalar. Sebuah kurikulum literasi media sebagai sarana mewujudkan latihan-latihan untuk berpikir kritis yang diwujudkan dalam berbagai alat pembelajaran. Setelah pelatihan, guru-guru didampingi untuk menerapkan kurikulum tersebut di kelas yang diampu. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan kompetensi guru dalam literasi media. Adanya perubahan positif pada pengetahuan, sikap, dan perilaku guru dalam penggunaan informasi sebelum dan sesudah pelatihan. Disamping itu, sebagian guru telah mampu mengadaptasi kurikulum tular nalar dengan kurikulum di sekolah. Meskipun demikian ditemukan bahwa sebagian guru masih kesulitan dalam menerapkan kurikulum tular nalar di sekolah. Kesulitan disebabkan oleh gagap teknologi, kurangnya kemampuan mengadaptasikan kurikulum tular nalar ke dalam kurikulum yang sudah ada, dan masalah teknis terkait jaringan. Program tular nalar sangat baik digunakan untuk melengkapi kurikulum yang ada saat ini, namun perlu teknik yang lebih sederhana agar kurikulum tersebut dapat diintegrasikan melalui pelatihan lanjutan bagi guru.

Abstract

This research aims to identify and analyze the contestation of identity political discourse that has developed in society's digital space ahead of the election for Governor of Southeast Sulawesi. In this research, the theories used are framing theory, the concept of public space, and the identity politics concept to find out why the community selects the Governor. Identity politics can arise based on a society’s ethnicity, religion, and culture. This is significant since the rise in community political participation in Southeast Sulawesi is heavily influenced by tribal factors. Meanwhile, the data collection technique used literature study with data analysis techniques that include three stages Data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The research findings that the contestation of identity political discourse in the digital space ahead of the election for Governor of Southeast Sulawesi showed dynamics in the use of digital space, especially on social media Facebook and Instagram. The tribal phenomenon has become a hot topic of discussion in the digital space, as shown by the comments of supporters of the three gubernatorial candidates, namely Andi Sumangerukka (ASR), a Bugis tribe, Kery Saiful Konggoasa (KSK), and Lukman Abunawas (LA) a tolaki tribe. The tribal public mindset of Kendari city people can determine the map of political power, making them to select who is most ideal to be a leader in Southeast Sulawesi.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role and impact of social media in political contestation leading up to the gubernatorial election in Southeast Sulawesi, utilizing the public sphere theory developed by Jurgen Habermas. The findings indicate that social media plays a significant role in enhancing political participation, particularly among younger, more tech-savvy voters. However, the study also identifies serious challenges related to the spread of misinformation and hoaxes, which can manipulate public perception and undermine the integrity of the democratic process. Therefore, it is crucial for candidates and their campaign teams to develop effective strategies to counter misinformation, and for the government and relevant institutions to enforce strict regulations on social media content during the campaign period. The conclusion of this study is that while social media holds great potential to strengthen democracy by increasing transparency and participation, its misuse can pose serious threats to political and social stability. Hence, appropriate strategies and strong digital literacy are necessary to harness social media as an effective tool in supporting a healthy and sustainable democracy in Indonesia.
