Abstract

In the early part of 2008, a major political upset was pulled off in Malaysia when the ruling coalition, Barisan Nasional (National Front), lost its almost sixty years long-held parliamentary majority after the general elections. It is The Hindu Rights Action Force (HINDRAF) came out from a series of controversial actions perceived by the Malaysian Indian community as discriminatory such as the errant destruction of Hindu temples and the body-snatching cases of Tamil Hindus, thought to have been converted to Islam, as well as the state of poverty confronted by the Tamil Hindu community in Malaysia. The 2007 rally event had an overwhelming impact internationally, drawing attention to the plight of Malaysian Tamil Hindus. However, the aim of this study will demonstrate that by the subsequent two general Malaysian elections of 2013 and 2018, the Tamil Hindus, as represented by HINDRAF, had not achieved their goals. Enduring heavy-handed treatment by the Malaysian authorities previously and troubled by internal strife and leadership issues within HINDRAF, this movement of Tamil Hindus in Malaysia stand diluted and divided. The result showed that after the 14th general election of 2018, it seems that the leadership has also accepted a compromised position. Malay-Muslim majoritarianism remains dominant and the “New Malaysia” appears less than that heralded in the early days of the new Pakatan Harapan government. This research uses qualitative methods.

Abstract

In connection with the Environment Minister regulation number 10 year 2010 about the Mechanism of Pollution Prevention and Environment and Life Damage chapter II, Article 3 (1) said that all of business and activities that use the forest or land should implement  land clearing without burning (LCWB) and is expected that all participating land preparation activities to implement these policies. This study was conducted to determine the level of community perception on LCWB and the land waste utilization by the community in Gambut Sub-district, South Kalimantan, Indonesia. The results showed that 15 respondent (49.83%) already knew about land clearing without burning. Low level of community participation is caused by community understanding about CLBW still low. About 64 % of respondents was included in the good category because the community has an interest to cultivate a waste from land clearing to decrease environment contamination.  About 60 % of the community thought that LCWB waste can be used for various purposes. Waste types which usually utilize by community was grass and rice husks.  The wastes were used as organic fertilizer and animal feed without further processing.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of zakat collection and distribution by BAZNAS Pekanbaru in the context of community empowerment. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach by analyzing both primary and secondary data. The findings indicate that zakat collection realization only reached 26.7% of its potential, constrained by insufficient outreach and lack of technological utilization. In terms of distribution, empowerment programs have benefited recipients; however, their impact remains unsustainable due to limited guidance and evaluation. This study recommends enhancing technology-based strategies, strengthening stakeholder collaboration, and involving communities to improve the effectiveness of zakat management in Pekanbaru.

Abstract

Saat ini Transpotasi memiliki peranan penting dalam kehidupan manusia yang berguna untuk memudahkan manusia dalam melakukan aktivitas sehari-hari. Salah satu permasalahan transpotasi yaitu perlintasan sebidang antara jalan dengan rel kereta api. Adanya pertemuan antar dua jenis prasarana transpotasi ini, maka kinerja lalu lintas akan menurun ketika palang pintu perlintasan kereta api ditutup. metode penelitian ini membahas Kemacetan terjadi selain karena arus lalu lintas yang padat dan hambatan samping yang cukup tinggi karena pengaruh pejalan kaki yang terus berlalu-lalang, kendaraan ojek online, angkutan umum dan kemacetan yang terjadi disebabkan juga oleh adanya persimpangan dengan perlintasan rel kereta api sehingga lalu lintas di persimpangan tersebut menyebabkan tundaan (delay) ketika kereta api melintas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengurangi hambatan samping yang menghasilkan perubahan kinerja jalan dengan membuat larangan kendaraan berat melintas saat memasuki jam-jam sibuk. Hasil yang di harapkan dapat dilakukan penelitian lanjutan untuk studi kasus kemacetan yang sama dilokasi yang berbeda sehingga dapat diketahui nilai tundaan, panjang antrian serta dampak peringkat Level Of Service (LOS) kendaraan akibat penutupan pintu perlintasan kereta api.
