Abstract

This study aims to describe the form of core values ​​contained in the implicature of the Manggarai regional popular song and to describe the meaning contained in these implicatures. This research was a qualitative descriptive study. The data collection technique was done by listening to and recording the lyrics that contained implicatures. The data analysis technique used was the equivalent method with the basic technique of sorting the determining elements. The research findings showed that, first that there were forms of core value range in Manggarai pop songs namely, (1) values ​​related to oneself including loyalty (2) values ​​related to society citizenship, compassion, and mutual cooperation (3) values related to nature includes devotion to nature and respect for natural health (4) values ​​related to God including being pious. The value purposes relating to society contained to giving an information and commanding.

Abstract

Hospitality Training for Homestay Managers in Liang Ndara Village, West Manggarai Regency. This community service activity aims to increase the capacity of the Human Resources (HR) manager of the homestay in Liang Ndara Village, West Manggarai Regency. This service activity includes training related to sanitation and hygiene, food and beverage products, public speaking, and English language training. The method used in this activity is an educational method, which includes socialization, training, and assistance as a means of transferring knowledge and education for empowering homestay managers in Liang Ndara Village. This activity resulted in rapid progress for homestay managers, especially an understanding of sanitation and hygiene, food and beverage products, public speaking, and English. Homestay managers are ready to apply the knowledge they have gained to improve the quality of service at the homestay

Abstract

This research aims to know the understanding of homestay providers about the quality of service. The research design of this study is descriptive quantitative where data collected from the questionnaires that given to the homestay providers at Liang Ndara Village, Labuan Bajo, with factors of analysis are: 1) Tourism Awareness, 2) Sanitation and Hygiene, 3) Psychology of Service, 4) Guest Service and English for Communication. The result of this study shows that 84,9% of respondents are not aware of the importance of sanitation and hygiene. English as a communication shows about 78,2% of respondents are not using English as daily communication with the foreign guest. This lack of interaction because of the effect of the psychology of service (8%) of respondents are less confident having interaction. While factors shown by the respondents are highly aware such as tourism awareness (100%) and 86,9% respondents have shown their awareness of service. Providing quality of service is required commitment from respondents to aware of those factors.

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to determine the methods used by hotels in dealing with the crisis caused by the Covid 19 pandemic and assess their impacts. This is descriptive qualitative research focused on describing the strategies implemented by these hotels and the data obtained were analyzed through 1) description or orientation, 2) reduction, and 3) selection stages. The process involves comprehensively understanding the focus set and analyzing the direction of the problem. Moreover, the result which was in the form of a theme obtained from the data was constructed into knowledge, hypotheses, and even new theories. It is important to note that the Labuan Bajo hotel deserted due to COVID-19 was used as a case study in providing innovation or new ways of managing hospitality to ensure the survival of the business. This is necessary because active incomes are only obtained through guest visits and tourists’ patronage but are ineffective due to restrictions made by the government on tourism activities. It was eventually recommended that hotels in Labuan Bajo need to continue meeting operational needs during the pandemic. Furthermore, the Hospitality Management Restructuring strategy implemented to deal with the Covid 19 crisis was considered quite successful by hoteliers in Labuan Bajo because it positively impacted the sustainability of the hotel business during the pandemic.

Abstract

Wae Bobok, Tanjung Boleng Village, Boleng District, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province, has several ideal local food potentials to be developed into local specialties. This area has quite good agricultural potential in the form of rice, sweet potatoes, and various other food products. The strategic location of Wae Bobok village makes it a "rest area" for land-crossers in the southern area of West Manggarai. Currently there are several stall managers who take advantage of this opportunity by selling food and beverage products to earn income. Food and beverage products sold are actually still dominated by non-local products obtained from shops or products outside the region. This certainly indicates that the typical regional products of Manggarai have not been able to become the distinctive color of regional culinary delights, even though the local food potential of the regions is quite diverse. Overal the activities that have been carried out by the team of lecturers are to increase knowledge for shop managers in innovating food and beverage products that are processed from local food. Some of the menus taught in this PkM activity are candlenut cake products, candlenut oil products, candlenut satay seasoning, and rice cake. After carrying out PKM activities in Wae Bobok Village, the team of lecturers concluded that the village's natural potential had not been optimally utilized by stall managers to produce food and beverage products. This is very unfortunate considering the strategic location of the village which is a stopover to unwind. The managers are quite enthusiastic in participating in all the activities carried out by the team of lecturers and students of the Hospitality Management DIV and hope that activities like this will be carried out regularly by the campus.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the readiness of the hotel workforce in Labuan Bajo during the acceleration of tourism development. Respondents in this study were the hotel industry that used student services to expedite hotel operations during the ASEAN SUMMIT 2023 in Labuan Bajo. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that industry perceptions of students' abilities to communicate, work together in teams, independence, creativity, basic hospitality skills, and self-appearance are considered ready to face the world of work

Abstract

Penggunaan Bahasa Indonesia oleh mahasiswa perhotelan di Politeknik Elbajo Commodus masih memiliki beberapa kendala yang terlihat dari proses belajar mengajar didalam kelas (lisan) maupun pengerjaan tugas akhir/tugas harian (tulisan). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana sikap Bahasa mahasiswa terhadap Bahasa Indonesia. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif ekplanatif. Hasil penelitian yaitu mahasiswa perhotelan di Politeknik Elbajo Commodus memiliki sikap positif terhadap Bahasa Indonesia. Hal ini dapat dilihat berdasarkan rata-rata jawaban dari setiap pernyataan dan rata-rata keseluruhan yaitu 3,5 (Sangat setuju) dalam rentangan skala empat. Mahasiswa perhotelan di Politeknik Elbajo Commodus sangat menyadari pentingnya penggunaan Bahasa Indonesia yang baik, benar, dan santun dalam lingkungan kampus terutama saat melakukan interaksi bersama dosen dan teman-teman.

Abstract

Financial literacy is an important skill needed to prepare the young generation to be independent, especially in areas with great economic potential such as Labuan Bajo. This study aims to explore the level of financial literacy of the young generation, the challenges they face, and strategies to increase their economic independence. Using qualitative methods, data were collected through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and participant observation of the young generation, educators, and local business actors. The results of the study indicate that the financial literacy of the young generation in Labuan Bajo is still limited, especially in the aspects of long-term financial planning and investment. The main obstacles faced include lack of access to financial education, consumer culture, and the lack of relevant financial literacy programs. However, there is great potential to improve financial literacy through community-based programs, integration of financial materials into the education curriculum, and practical training involving local economic actors. This study concludes that improving the financial literacy of the young generation in Labuan Bajo requires collaboration between various parties, including the government, educational institutions, and local communities. With a planned strategy, financial literacy can be the foundation for building a more independent young generation, ready to face global economic challenges, and able to take advantage of local opportunities. These findings provide concrete recommendations for the development of financial literacy programs that are relevant to the needs of the community in Labuan Bajo.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana kualitas makanan dan persepsi harga mempengaruhi kepuasan pelanggan di restoran Hong Signature Seafood Cuisine Labuan Bajo. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan menyebarkan kuesioner untuk mengumpulkan data, dan menganalisis data menggunakan regresi linier berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kualitas makanan memiliki pengaruh positif terhadap kepuasan pelanggan semakin baik kualitas makanan, semakin tinggi kepuasan pelanggan. Sebaliknya, persepsi harga berpengaruh negatif terhadap kepuasan pelanggan semakin tinggi harga yang dirasakan, semakin rendah kepuasan pelanggan.
