Abstract

Kata kunci: Dedak Padi, Adsorpsi, zat warna congo redABSTRACTThis research was an experimental research that aimed as adsorption study of rice bran against congo red dye and then applicated on silk yarn dyeing waste. Sample was obtained from Tanasitolo District, Wajo, South Sulawesi. Adsorption study was conducted with several optimization, i.e, pH and contact time. Greatest adsorption at pH 6 with the percentage of 94,13% and contact time of 30 minutes with the percentage of 91,99%. Rice bran had the ability to adsorb the waste in the concentration of 3249,41 ppm with the percentage of 34,30%. The adsorption followed the Freundlich isotherm with the maximum adsorption capacity of 7,19 mg/g. From the characterization result obtained the water content value of 5,88%. Analysis using FT-IR obtained the adsorption of functional groups in wavelength (cm-1) i.e.:3408,22 (-OH), 2924.00 (CH3), 2852.72 (-CH2) and 1074,35 (Si-O). Topology test using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) adsorption obtained the process surface of large after adsorption showed that dye attached at pores of rice bran. The elements test using Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) before and after adsorption showed changes of the percentage the elements. Keywords: Rice Bran, Adsorption, Congo Red Dye
