Abstract

This research is motivated by the low ability to recognize children's words. The purpose of this study is to describe the improvement of children's abilitiesin saying the word through the game of dice.This type of research is classroom action research using quantitative approach. The subjects of this study were elementary school children on Jl.Sultan Hasanuddin 55. Data collection techniques used observation techniques, data collection tool using observation and data analysis in research it uses the percentage formula.The results of the study show that 1) the ability to recognize children's words in mentioning the word increases in the category of being able through the game dice. This can be seen from the average value for each statement increases with each meeting. This proves that through dice games can improve children's ability to mentioning words, 2) the ability to recognize children's words in connecting The word increases in the category able to go through dice game can be seen from the average value on each statement increases with each meeting. This proves that through dice games can improve word recognition skills child.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity is to assist students by applying scrabble games in learning in the community and to produce new English vocabulary for children in the community. This activity was carried out in one of the Wek IV neighborhoods on Jalan Sutan Hasanuddin. The target participants are community children. The method used is the theoretical and practical method of the game of scrabble. The results obtained through this training are innovative learning knowledge with scrabble games and children's ability to implement scrabble games to increase children's knowledge vocabulary to bind children's ability to pronounce words through scrabble games proves that the game can improve children's ability to pronounce words, numbers and linking words, as evidenced by the significant increase in vocabulary after community children used scrabble games in English learning or excellent vocabulary learning for four days of meetings.

Abstract

The aims of this research are to know 1) the extent is the application of the reading aloud strategy in teaching speaking ability, 2) the extent is the students' speaking ability before and after using the reading aloud strategy, 3) is there any significant effect of the reading aloud strategy on students' speaking ability in class XI SMA Negeri 8 Padangsidimpuan. This research used experimental method with pre-experimental one group pretest-posttest design. The population of this study was all XI grade which amounted to 98 students. The sample of this study was class XI 1 which amounted to 32 students taken by cluster sampling. Data were collected through observation and tests as instruments. Data collection technique for observation sheet used Liket scale and speaking test used speaking rubric. The results showed that the application of reading aloud strategy reached 89% (very good category). The average value of students' speaking ability before and after using the reading aloud strategy is 43.19 (poor category) and 78.53 (good category). The results of hypothesis testing using the Normality Test with SPPS 23, showed that the paired sample t-test pretest and post-test tables were smaller than 0.05 (0.000 <0.05). it means that the hypothesis (H₂) is accepted. there is a significant effect of the reading aloud strategy on students' speaking ability in the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 8 Padangsidimpuan.
