Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari penggunaan model pembelajaran TGT terhadap hasil belajar kemampuan membaca mahasiswa IPTS semester 2 tahun akademik 2017/2018. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan menerapkan metode quasi experimental (one group pretest posttest desain). Berdasarkan hasil tes, kemampuan membaca sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan TGT diperoleh, a) nilai mean, median, modus, mengalami peningkatan dan berbanding terbalik dengan standard deviasi yang mengalami penurunan dan b) grafik histogram juga menunjukkan kategori baik (good) dan sangat baik (very good) mengalami peningkatan sebaliknya kategori cukup, kurang dan gagal mengalami penurunan. Selanjutnya berdasarkan inferesial statistik dengan menggunakan ttest one tail diperoleh nilai thitung lebih besar dari pada ttable (10.54>1.70). Artinya terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari penggunaan model pembelajaran TGT terhadap hasil belajar kemampuan membaca mahasiswa IPTS semester 2 tahun akademik 2017/2018.

This research was done to investigate the students’ error in writing analytical exposition text at the Fourth Semester of Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan. The aim of this research were: 1) to find out the amount of errors made by the students, 2) to find out the most frequently error made by the students, 3) to find out the least frequently error made by the students. The writer used a descriptive qualitative method. The subjects of this research were 20 at fourth semester of Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan in Academic year 2018/2019. To collect data the writer used English writing essay test. The collected data was identified, classified, and analyzed based on the types of error using Dulay’s Theory (the surface strategy taxonomy). The result of the research shows that: 1) the total amount of error made by the students were 168 errors. They included misformation type (81=43.50%), addition type (49=26.30%), omission type (38=20.40%) and misordering type (18=9.70%). 2) the most frequently error made by the students was misformation type (81=43.50%, 3) the least frequently error made by the students was misordering type (18=9.70%).

The aim of this study to know whether there was a significant correlation of using context clue strategy and vocabulary mastery at the fifth semester students of English Department of Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan. The research was conducted by applying quantitative descriptive with 20 students as the sample and they were taken by using random sampling technique. Questionnaire and test were used in collecting the data. Based on inferential statistics by using r product moment and R square, the result showed ttable was less tcalculated (0.444<0.516) at a significant level of 5% and R square was 0.266470068. It means there was a significant correlation of using context clue strategy on vocabulary mastery at significant level of 5% at the fifth semester students of English Department of Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan (IPTS) and strategy context clue gave contribution as big as 26,65% on vocabulary mastery.

The aim of this study to describe what percentage the influence of using dictionary and context clue strategy on vocabulary mastery at the fifth semester students of English Department of Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan. The research was conducted by applying quantitative descriptive with 20 students as the sample for using dictionary and 20 students for using context clue strategy. They were taken by using random sampling technique. Questionnaire and test were used in collecting the data. the result shows (1) using dictionary strategy gives 42.9% on vocabulary mastery, (2) using context clue strategy gives 23.7% on vocabulary mastery , and (3) using dictionary is better than context clue strategy on vocabulary mastery at the fifth semester students of English Department of Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan.

Abstract : The purpose of this research to know 1) the application of the scramble model in vocabulary mastery 2) the students’ vocabulary mastery before and after using scramble model 3) whether there is any significant effect of scramble model in vocabulary mastery at the eleventh grade students of MA Swasta Al-Abraar Siondop Julu Angkola Selatan by applying pre-experimental (one-group pretest and posttest design). The sample consist of 22 students and they were taken by using purposive sampling technique. In collecting the data, the researcher used questionnaire and test. The result of the research are 1) application of scramble model was 93% (very good category), 2) the mean score of students’ vocabulary mastery before using scramble model was 58.86 (bad category) and after using scramble model was 80 (good category), 3) Data on students' vocabulary mastery analyzed using paired sample ttest and N- gain through SPSS 22. The pair sample ttest shows the significant value was 0.000, it’s less than 0.05 (0.000< 0.05). Furthermore N- gain shows 0.51. It means there is any significant effect of scramble model on students’ vocabulary mastery in medium category. Keywords: Vocabulary mastery, scramble model

Since the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) was present in Indonesia, the government took a policy to conduct the online teaching-learning process. Some applications were used in conducting the teaching-learning process. Two applications are most used in South Tapanuli namely WhatsApp and Google Classroom because these applications had the widest range. Based on the background, the research was conducted to investigate whether there were any significant effects of using WhatsApp and Google Classroom on Language Testing subjects in the fifth-semester students of the Education Institute of South Tapanuli. Quasi-experimental was applied (pretest and posttest design) with 25 students for WhatsApp class (experimental class 1) and 25 students for Google Classroom (experimental class 2). Furthermore, the independent sample t-test as the parametric statistics couldn't be used to determine the hypothesis because the data was not normal distribution so the Mann Whitney U test was used which is equivalent to the independent sample t-test. The result of the pretest showed that both groups didn’t give any significant difference because the Man Whitney U test showed Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) was more than 0.05 (0.600>0.05). The result of the posttest showed that both groups didn’t give significant differences either because the Man Whitney U test showed Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) was more than 0.05 (0.541>0.05). This calculation showed there were no significant effects of using WhatsApp and Google Classroom on Language Testing subjects among the fifth-semester students of the Education Institute of South Tapanuli. In other words, this calculation gave us that the use of WhatsApp and Google Classroom gave almost the same effect.

This research is motivated by the low ability to recognize children's words. The purpose of this study is to describe the improvement of children's abilitiesin saying the word through the game of dice.This type of research is classroom action research using quantitative approach. The subjects of this study were elementary school children on Jl.Sultan Hasanuddin 55. Data collection techniques used observation techniques, data collection tool using observation and data analysis in research it uses the percentage formula.The results of the study show that 1) the ability to recognize children's words in mentioning the word increases in the category of being able through the game dice. This can be seen from the average value for each statement increases with each meeting. This proves that through dice games can improve children's ability to mentioning words, 2) the ability to recognize children's words in connecting The word increases in the category able to go through dice game can be seen from the average value on each statement increases with each meeting. This proves that through dice games can improve word recognition skills child.

Abstrack This community service focuses on learning to increase elementary school children's vocabulary using puzzle techniques. This service aims to increase the vocabulary in English for children at SD Negeri 200113 Tanobato. implementation method by learning while playing English puzzles and adding material orally and in writing. The service is carried out through three stages, namely the learning planning stage, the learning implementation stage and the learning evaluation stage. Vocabulary is important because learning vocabulary is the main capital for learning sentences and other skills in language. Mastering a lot of vocabulary will make it easier for them to read, write, listen and speak English. The success indicator in this learning is marked by the students' writing ability in learning English. At the implementation stage. The learning consists of three activities, namely opening activities, core activities and closing. This community service is carried out for three days. Some of the components that have been successfully achieved from this PKM include 1) the achievement of activity goals 2) the achievement of the material targets that have been planned. Abstrak Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini fokus kepada pembelajaran peningkatan vocabularry anak sd menggunakan teknik puzzle. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan perbendaharaan kosakata dalam berbahasa Inggris anak anak di SD Negeri 200113 Tanobato. Metode pelaksanaan debgan cara belajar sambil bermain puzzle bahasa inggris serta menyampaikan materi secara lisan dan tulisan. pengabdian dilaksanakan melalui tiga tahapan, yaitu tahap perencanaan pembelajaran, tahap pelaksanaan pembelajaran dan tahap evaluasi pembelajaran. Vocabulary sangatlah penting karena mempelajari kosakata adalah modal utama untuk mempelajari penyusunan kalimat dan kemampuan lain dalam bahasa. Dengan menguasai banyak kosakata akan memudahkan mereka untuk membaca, menulis, mendengar dan berbicara bahasa Inggris. Indikator keberhasilan dalam pembelajaran ini ditandai dengan meningkatnya kemampuan menulis siswa dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Pada tahap pelaksanaan. Pembelajaran terdiri dari tiga kegiatan yaitu kegiatan pembukaan, kegiatan inti dan kegiatan penutup.Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan tiga hari. Beberapa komponen yang berhasil di capai dari PKM ini diantaranya 1) tercapainya tujuan kegiatan 2) tercapai target materi yang telah di rencanakan.

The purpose of this community service activity is to assist students by applying scrabble games in learning in the community and to produce new English vocabulary for children in the community. This activity was carried out in one of the Wek IV neighborhoods on Jalan Sutan Hasanuddin. The target participants are community children. The method used is the theoretical and practical method of the game of scrabble. The results obtained through this training are innovative learning knowledge with scrabble games and children's ability to implement scrabble games to increase children's knowledge vocabulary to bind children's ability to pronounce words through scrabble games proves that the game can improve children's ability to pronounce words, numbers and linking words, as evidenced by the significant increase in vocabulary after community children used scrabble games in English learning or excellent vocabulary learning for four days of meetings.
