Abstract

Gingival overgrowth (GO) or enlargement is an unwanted effect occurring on the gingiva that commonly associated with medications. Hypertension is a global burden systemic conditions and showed high prevalent and more patients are taking antihypertensive drugs. Objective: This study aimed to assess the prevalence of drug-induced gingival overgrowth (DIGO) and its associated risk factors among hypertensive patients attending Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, Kelantan, Malaysia. Methods: A total of 42 patients with the mean age of 57.1 (SD=9.3) years had participated in this cross-sectional study. They were recruited if they had consumed anti-hypertensive agents for at least 6 months. Demographic data and oral hygiene status were recorded and the presence of DIGO was assessed based on clinical index for gingival overgrowth. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 24.0 with p < 0.05 is considered statistically significant. Results: Majority of patients were taking calcium channel blockers (CCB) (81.0%) with amlodipine reported as the most common antihypertensive prescribed (47.6%). About 52% presented with DIGO and among them 55.9% were in those on CCB by which 9.5% presented with clinically significant enlargement. Except for gingivitis, oral hygiene status and demographic data were not significant risk factors for DIGO (p > 0.05). Conclusion: We found that DIGO is prevalent among hypertensive patients on CCB and its occurrence is coexists with gingivitis. Therefore, periodontal assessment is recommended among these patients for early detection and management of drug-induced gingival overgrowth.

Abstract

The generation of present-day adolescents is the future national asset, by which this group has a vital role in the future leadership and governance of the country. However, countless cases and news of teenagers’ involment in social misconduct pose a great concern to various parties. The rise in the cases of adolescents’ involment in delinquency misconduct poses a great concern to society. It shows the need for effort to encircle it. The research gap of this article is due to lack of knowledge about delinquent adolescents among society. Therefore, this article aims to identify a definition of delinquent juvenile. The method used is qualitative, and the main instrument of the study is SLR (Systematic Literature Review). A rigorous criteria for inclusion of studies was developed, comprehensive search strategies were employed to identify eligible published studies. Twelve studies based on 880 articles reviewed met the inclusion criteria. A detailed discussion of these 12 literature reviews is presented through two dimensions, the differences and similarities in the definition of delinquent adolescents. Hence, the findings of this study propose the definition of delinquency indirectly is all misconduct leading to negative things that damage the morals and personality of an individual adolescent and negatively impact the adolescent himself, his family, race, religion, and country. The findings greatly can contribute to the corpus of knowledge on adolescents and delinquents.

Abstract

The first objective of this study was to evaluate trend line pattern, obtain the appropriate statistical equation model, and predict individual numbers infected by Covid-19. The second objective is to obtain a predictive equation model and forecast death rate for Malaysia and Italy. Malaysia's first positive case Covid-19 recorded January 24, 2020, consisting of three cases. Collected from January 24 to March 29, 2020. Sixty-six day-observations, based on their trend line pattern, earned special attention. Although the first positive case was identified on January 31, 2020, involving two patients. From January 31 to March 29, 2020, approximately 59 observations were collected from Italy. On 18 March 2020, the pattern will contrast with the Malaysian Movement Control Order (MCO). Malaysia and Italy collect death figures. A similar methodology will be applied to find the best-fitted model that fits both countries' death-number scenario. In Italy, the number of Covid-19-infected patients rises and meets quadratic trend line patterns. This induces extreme public distress and diversion. The quadratic trend line series analysed individual Covid-19-infected results. After March 18, 2020, it will continue to use a linear pattern. However, trend deaths also follow quadratic trend line pattern. Trend-line quadratic matched Italy's results. The quadratic line-of-trend model projection demonstrated dominance in estimating infected Covid-19. The quadratic death line from daily death collection data also showed superiority in estimating death number. The fitted quadratic model is better fitted in the Malaysian case, but the pattern shifts to linear trend line after MCO is implemented.

Abstract

The research gap in this article is due to lack of religious appreciation in the soul as well as a low level of self-identity among adolescents that occur in many cases. Youth self-identity development programs are much in need as a guide for dealing with the issues of youth involvement in social problems. Therefore, this study aims to present the components of the development model for delinquent adolescent self-identity according to the Islamic perspective based on the consensus of experts. To fulfil a particular set of this objective, we applied the Fuzzy Delphi method with a 7-point Likert scale to obtain the consensus of the expert group. The findings of the study illustrate that all the components of the self-identity development model of delinquent adolescents according to the Islamic perspective, which are the induction set, spiritual development, physical development, and follow-up of the main components, obtain expert consensus with an agreement level of more than 75% percent, the threshold value was less than 0.2 (d<0.2) and the value a-cut exceeds 0.5. Finally, the components of this model could be used as a basis and guide in efforts to develop self-identity of delinquent adolescents according to the Islamic perspective.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and validate a Malay language questionnaire to assess mothers' knowledge in providing breast milk for premature infants, and barriers to breast milk expression while the infants are in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Two tertiary hospitals in Kelantan, Malaysia participated in this cross-sectional study. Relevant items of knowledge and barriers were identified through a literature search, clinical observations, and expert opinion. Ten breastfeeding experts validated the content of the knowledge and barriers to breast milk expression questionnaire. The effectiveness of the questionnaires was tested for face validity among ten mothers, followed by reliability tests comprising 50 mothers who gave birth prematurely. The 20 knowledge items and 16 barrier items have an Item-level Content Validity Index (I-CVI) of 0.99, indicating good relevance of the knowledge and barrier items. The knowledge and barrier questionnaires had Item-level Face Validity Indexes (I-FVIs) of 1.00 and 0.99, respectively, suggesting clear and comprehensible items. The questionnaires obtained a Cronbach alpha score of 0.726 for knowledge and 0.736 for barriers, showing that they are reliable tools for assessing knowledge and breast milk expression barriers. The validity and reliability of the newly developed Malay version of the questionnaire have been established for evaluating breastfeeding knowledge and barriers to expressing breast milk among mothers with premature infants.
