Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a major public health concern in Indonesia, with a high number of reported cases. In 2024, there were 210,644 DHF cases with 1,239 deaths. Central Java Province contributed 12,994 cases, while Banjarnegara Regency reported 889 cases with an incidence rate (IR) of 83.8 per 100,000 population. The high number of cases in the working area of Banjarmangu 1 Health Center, along with the suboptimal use of spatial approaches, forms the basis of this research. The aim of this study is to describe the spatial distribution of DHF cases and mosquito breeding sites, as well as the characteristics of patients and related environmental factors. This research is a descriptive observational study with a cross-sectional approach. The study was conducted in the working area of UPTD Puskesmas Banjarmangu 1, Banjarnegara Regency, in May-June 2025. Data were obtained through observations and secondary data from the health center, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG), and other related institutions. Spatial analysis was conducted using ArcGIS 10.8.2 software and presented in thematic maps and descriptive tables. The results showed that adults were the most affected age group (73.7%), with a higher proportion of female patients (63.2%), and the most common education levels were elementary and senior high school. The highest number of cases was found in Jenggawur Village. Furthermore, a total of 187 mosquito breeding sites were identified, 57 of which were found to be positive for larvae. The study produced spatial distribution maps of DHF cases and mosquito breeding site locations in the study area. These findings indicate that DHF transmission is closely related to environmental factors and the presence of breeding sites around residential areas. Spatial-based control strategies, integrated larval source management, and increased community education need to be optimized to reduce the risk of sustained DHF transmission.

Abstract

Hospitals as public service facilities, play a vital role in addressing various health issues; however, they also have the potential to become sources of nosocomial infections, which are infections acquired by patients during hospitalization. One of the preventive efforts to reduce nosocomial infections is by improving the physical quality of inpatient rooms to meet health standards. This study aims to describe the physical quality of inpatient rooms one of hospitals at Banjarnegara, focusing on parameters including temperature, humidity, noise level, lighting, and ventilation rate. This research is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach, utilizing measurement tools such as thermometers, hygrometers, sound level meters, lux meters, and anemometers. The population in this study includes all inpatient rooms, with a sample of 45 rooms selected through proportional random sampling. The study was conducted from April to June 2025, and the data were analyzed using univariate analysis. The results showed that most of the temperature (75.6%), humidity (77.8%), and ventilation rate (54.5%) measurements did not meet the standards, while the noise level (84.4%) and lighting (77.8%) were within acceptable limits. In conclusion, the physical quality of inpatient rooms has not fully complied with the Ministry of Health Regulation No. 2 of 2023, indicating the need for improvements to create an environment that supports the patient recovery process.

Abstract

Cilacap Ocean Fishing Port (PPS) plays a strategic role in managing fisheries and marine resources. Fishing vessel operations require attention to cleanliness, catch quality, crew health, and the aquatic environment. This study aims to describe the sanitation conditions of fishing vessels and the issuance of sailing health permits. This research is descriptive with a cross-sectional approach. The population includes vessels docked at Pier 2 of PPS Cilacap, using a random sampling technique of 50 ships. Primary data were collected through checklists based on Ministry of Health regulations and questionnaires, while secondary data were obtained from the port authority. The results showed that sanitation aspects meeting standards included the galley (72%), cargo (80%), quarters (52%), potable water (100%), solid waste (80%), standing water (100%), engine room (84%), and medical facilities (100%). However, sewage systems did not meet the requirements. The issuance of the Port Health Quarantine Certificate (PHQC) was 100% in accordance with SOP. In conclusion, ship sanitation and PHQC issuance generally met the assessment standards, except for the liquid waste aspect. These findings are expected to help the port improve sanitation inspections and related educational efforts.

Abstract

The Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPAL) plays a crucial role in preventing environmental pollution caused by liquid waste from healthcare services in community health centers. However, many IPAL units in primary healthcare facilities still operate suboptimally. This study aimed to describe the management of the IPAL and the results of physicochemical wastewater testing at UPTD Banjarmangu 2 Public Health Center, as well as to evaluate its compliance with the quality standards based on Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry No. P.68 of 2016. This descriptive research used a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected through direct observation, pH and flow rate measurements using measuring instruments, and laboratory tests for BOD, COD, ammonia, and TSS. Wastewater samples were taken three times from the IPAL outlet using grab sampling. The results showed that eight out of nine IPAL components met technical standards, except for the absence of a grease trap. All laboratory test parameters met the quality standards: pH (7.6–8), BOD (15–18 mg/L), COD (25–29 mg/L), ammonia (<0.03 mg/L), TSS (17–20 mg/L), and flow rate (73–79 L/person/day). It is concluded that the IPAL at UPTD Banjarmangu 2 has met the required quality standards. It is recommended to install a grease trap and conduct regular laboratory tests to maintain IPAL performance and prevent environmental pollution.

Abstract

Safe drinking water is a primary need for supporting public health. Drinking Water Depots (DWDs) are an alternative source of clean water, yet require proper supervision to ensure safety. This research aims to describe the sanitation and bacteriological quality of production water in DWDs in the working area of Puskesmas Punggelan 1. The study uses a descriptive quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected using observation checklists, interviews, and laboratory tests for Coliform and Escherichia coli. Results showed 65% of DWDs met sanitation standards, 100% met equipment sanitation, and 75% met hygiene standards. Bacteriological analysis revealed 45% of water samples were free from Coliform, and 85% were free from E. coli. The study concludes that while sanitation is generally met, improvements in water quality are needed to align with Indonesian Ministry of Health Regulation No. 2 of 2023.
