Abstract

This study aims to analyze the financial aspects and the sensitivity of the Trigona sp. honey bee cultivation business in the Landono District, South Konawe Regency. This research was conducted from September 2021 to March 2022 using the case study method in the Madu Mas forest farmer group, with eight people used as informants. Research variables include informant identity and business feasibility analysis. The data analysis used is a quantitative analysis using investment assessment criteria including NPV, Net B/C, IRR, Payback Period, and sensitivity analysis. The results showed that the financial aspect obtained an NPV value of IDR40,139,762, with a discount factor of 14%, Net B/C of 1.94, an IRR value of 28.84%, and a Payback Period of 3 years four months so that the honey bee cultivation business declared financially viable. Based on the sensitivity analysis, the business is still feasible to run despite a 25% decrease in honey production and a 35% increase in operating costs. However, if there is a decrease in honey production by 25% and an increase in operational costs by 35% simultaneously, then the honey bee cultivation business is not feasible.

The average increase in rice production in the next ten years is 1.60% per year, with the Konawe Regency rice consumption need in 2020 of 49,594.08 tons. Based on rice production and demand, the total availability of rice in Konawe Regency in 2021 is 74,585.5 tons, indicating a status of surplus rice availability. Internal factors include business strengths and weaknesses, and external factors include business opportunities and threats. Based on the results of the study shows that (a) internal factors, consisting of three strength factors, namely own business capital, adequate production technology and good use of promotional media, and two weak factors, namely product prices which are relatively high compared to competitors, type or variant of shredded fish is still small. (b) external factors, consisting of three opportunity factors, namely the existence of support from the government, strategic marketing locations, and expanding market demand, and four threat factors, namely fluctuating raw material costs, many similar businesses, uncertain climatic conditions, and the nature of perishable raw materials. Based on the SWOT analysis results, the strategy used in the Abonindi shredded fish business is quadrant I (one), namely the SO strategy (Strengths – Opportunities). SO strategy is a strategy that uses strengths to take advantage of opportunities.
