Abstract

Abstract. The difference between causal about gender and its practice makes problems related to economy, welfare and education more prominent. The majority understands that gender is an equal right between men and women. Such understanding is what erodes the role as well as the inner degree of a woman. This condition can be seen in the current work environment which increasingly alienates women from their families. So that the work environment that should be a factor driving the economy becomes a new problem because of its inferiority towards women and children. Islam as a religion of mercy for all nature provides solutions and enlightenment related to the problem. With the application of the arguments syar’i (Islamic law) is expected to all run accordingly. So that balance and satisfaction will be achieved by all parties. In this paper describes a good work environment from an Islamic perspective, namely a work environment that is friendly to children, women and the company itself.

Abstract

Indonesia is the third country with the largest number of smokers in the world after China and India. An increase in cigarette consumption is associated with an increase in the burden of disease due to smoking and an increase in the death rate due to smoking. It is estimated that the mortality rate of smokers in the world will reach 10 million people and 70% of them will come from developing countries by 2030. The results of the Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) show that the increase in the prevalence of smoking in the population aged 10-18 years with the age of 10 years has increased from the original 28.8% in 2013 to 29.3% in 2018. The purpose of this study is to examine some of the literature on Islamic perspectives on adolescent smoking behavior. This study uses a literature review method where the researcher conducts a series of studies involving various kinds of information from the literature such as journals and theses. The results of research from various sources indicate that adolescents who smoke do not know the side effects of the dangers of smoking behavior. Because basically they just follow the association made by peers. As parents, educators (teachers) naturally contribute to solving deviant behavior in adolescents. Islam recommends several approaches in solving these problems, for example, inculcating religious values, education for children, personality formation and good advice (mau'izhah hasanah).

Abstract

The backgrounds of this research are the reality of pulmonary tuberculosis cases in Indonesia which has never been resolved since the colonial era until now, and the ignorance of biomedical experts to the results of medical anthropology research on pulmonary tuberculosis. Therefore, this study tries to get out of the usual themes of medical anthropological research and offer “power” as a new theme in medical anthropological research on pulmonary tuberculosis. The method used is a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach to describe the process of occurrence and transmission of pulmonary tuberculosis. The findings of this research are; (1) the knowledge of society in Cinangka Serang Banten regarding pulmonary tuberculosis is constructed by staff of public health center (puskesmas), as well as personalistic and naturalistic traditional healers, (2) social process, as a form of power implementation, can stimulate, encourage, or even facilitate the biological process of pulmonary tuberculosis, (3) the use of power issue in medical anthropology perspective for the understanding disease is significant as one of the themes in pulmonary tuberculosis research. The effect of these findings is; to stimulate the dynamization of theory and method in medical anthropology; reconstruct the way of thinking in the study of disease; provide a conceptual contribution to overcoming pulmonary tuberculosis.

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) contribute to approximately 74 percent of global deaths, with cardiovascular diseases related to hypertension being the most significant, accounting for 17.9 million deaths each year. In Bali, the prevalence of hypertension has shown a steady increase, reaching 47.7 percent in Karangasem Regency. Existing epidemiological approaches remain insufficient as they focus predominantly on biological and behavioral determinants while overlooking cultural factors that influence health behaviors. This study aims to explore how shared knowledge within the Tenganan Pegringsingan community shapes and reinforces cultural practices that increase the risk of hypertension. Using a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews and participant observation involving village officials, community elders, leaders of social drinking groups known as sekehe, and individuals participating in metuakan rituals. The findings demonstrate that the interaction between environmental, biological, and cultural factors sustains the practice of metuakan, a communal activity involving the consumption of palm wine (tuak), which is deeply embedded in local religious and social rituals. Long-term alcohol exposure through these practices influences biological processes and psychosocial conditions that affect heart rate and blood pressure. The study concludes that culturally embedded behaviors must be considered in the development of effective hypertension prevention strategies that are contextually grounded in local knowledge and practice.
