Abstract

The methodology in this study is to conduct a series of soil characteristic testing and then design the composition of the Proctor Standard testing mixture to obtain optimum moisture content values, California Bearing Ratio (Unsoaked Design CBR and Soaked Design CBR) to obtain soil support value. The results of the research showed that the soil meets the characteristics of clay soil. From standard compaction testing at point 1 and point 2 with mixed variations of 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, 10% experienced an increase in optimum water content and maximum dry density. Corn weevil ash increases the value of CBR soil so that it can be used to increase the carrying capacity of organic clay soil.

Abstract

In Indonesia, there are many building constructions with poor soil condition. Therefore, the land needs to be stabilized in order to meet the necessary technical requirements. One method of improvement is adding chemical mixing materials such as gypsum. One of the parameters that can be seen on good soil soil is bearing capacity. The bearing capacity of the soil can be determined by testing the California Bearing Ratio (CBR). Aims of this study was to determine the physical properties of clay soil and to analyse the effect off adding gypsum powder to clay soil on the CBR Value. The results of the research are the largest CBR value occurred in soil samples mixed with gypsum powder as much as 8% where point 1 the CBR value was 5,67% and point 2 was 4,13%.

Abstract

This study was intended to determine the effect of adding beach sand to clay soil on the Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) test. The methodology in this research is testing soil characteristics, composition of the Proctor Standard test mixture and Dynamic Cone Penetrometer testing. The results showed that the soil met the characteristics of a clay soil. From the Proctor Standard test on a mixture variation of 0%, 7%, 14%, 21%, there was an increase in the optimum moisture content and the maximum dry density. From the Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) test, the CBR value increased at each additional variation from 0% to 21%. Beach sand increases the CBR value of the soil so that it can be used to increase the bearing capacity of clay soil.
