Abstract

Introduction: Maintaining teeth in their corrected positions following orthodontic treatment can be extremely challenging. Coffee is one substance whose effects on relapse have been extensively studied. The aim of study is to analyze the effect of coffee administration on relapse after orthodontic retention by evaluating alkaline phosphatase levels. Methods: This experimental laboratory study enrolled SpraqueDawley rats, with brackets applied using Edgewise slot 0.022” system and a nickel-titanium open coil spring fixed between the lower central incisors for 14 days. Based on Federer’s formula, 36 SpraqueDawley rats were randomly divided by simple random sampling into four groups: Group 1 (no retention), Group 2(retention for 3 days), Group 3(retention for 7 days), and Group 4(retention for 2 weeks). The Spraque-Dawley rats in the four experimental groups were given aquadest, 50 mg, and 100 mg/kg coffee intake ad libitum. Orthodontic relapse was assessed by measuring changes in alkaline phosphatase levels between the lower central incisors (the relapse side). Changes in the distance between the central incisors during relapse were observed visually. Alkaline phosphatase levels, which serve as a predictor of recurrence, were determined using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Data analysis was conducted with the Two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and a post hoc Tukey test. Results: Overall, we found that a longer retention period was associated with a slower rate of relapse and a shorter overall amount of relapse. In addition, inhibiting osteoclast formation using coffee also reduced orthodontic relapse. Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and/or its biomarkers could serve as potential therapeutic targets in the prevention and treatment of orthodontic relapse, with changes observed at a value of 0.001. This demonstrates that coffee administration affects alkaline phosphatase levels during relapse after orthodontic retention. Conclusion: Coffee administration increased alkaline phosphatase levels during relapse after orthodontic retention in rats.

Abstract

Background: Cephalometry was a radiographic analysis used in orthodontic treatment to study dentofacial growth, diagnosis, treatment planning, and evaluation of treatment outcomes. Cephalometry was divided into two, conventional method cephalometry and Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI is an artificial intelligence technology that was used for chatbots, diagnostic aids, and electronic medical records. The purpose of this review was to analyze the cephalometry of orthodontic treatment using AI deep learning compared to conventional methods in the Caucasoid race. Method: The data collection method used is the PICO method by browsing the PUBMED, Science Direct, and Google Scholar electronic databases. The keywords used are Cephalometric Orthodontics AND Artificial Intelligence OR Digital AND Conventional AND Comparison. Result: The results of this review found significant differences between conventional methods and AI methods. AI in terms of time was able to outperform conventional methods with a speed of up to 13x. AI also excels in terms of efficiency because it saves manpower. Aspects of reliability, angular and linear measurements, and the value of AI had capabilities that were equivalent to humans and even more so that they can be recommended for use in dental practice. AI suffers from a shortage in terms of cost because the preparation of AI into software requires a large amount of cost compared to conventional methods, which were more affordable. Conclusion: The conclusion of this literature review was that the AI method more superior in terms of time, reliability, value, angle measurement, and liner, as well as efficiency, but had drawbacks in terms of cost.

Abstract

Cervical cancer is a leading cause of death among women, with over 300,000 deaths recorded in 2020. This study aims to improve the accuracy of cervical cancer diagnosis classification through a combination of Adaptive Synthetic Sampling (ADASYN) and Random Forest algorithm. The research data was obtained from the Cervical Cancer dataset in the UCI Machine Learning Repository with an imbalanced data distribution of 95% negative class and 5% positive class. ADASYN method was chosen for its ability to handle imbalanced data by focusing on minority data points that are difficult to classify. The Random Forest algorithm was optimized using GridSearchCV to achieve maximum performance. Results show that this combination improved accuracy from 96.5% to 96.8% and recall from 93.7% to 94.3%. Feature importance analysis identified key risk factors such as number of pregnancies, age at first sexual intercourse, and hormonal contraceptive use that significantly influence diagnosis. This research demonstrates the effectiveness of combining ADASYN and Random Forest in enhancing classification performance for early cervical cancer detection.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Bidang Radiologi Kedokteran Gigi sangat berhubungan dengan paparan radiasi. Setiap paparan radiasi  memberikan efek kepada tubuh kita baik sebagai pasien maupun sebagai operator. Tujuan dari pemeriksaan radiologi adalah untuk mengetahui kondisi kesehatan pasien melalui teknologi radiologi. Tindakan-tindakan yang biasa dilakukan oleh dokter gigi seringkali membutuhkan foto rontgen untuk merencanakan perawatan atau mengevaluasi perawatannya. Akan tetapi faktor geografis, demografis dan sosiologis, terkadang mengakibatkan pasien tidak dapat menjangkau fasilitas rontgen tersebut. Begitu juga pengetahuan masyarakat tentang pentingnya foto rontgen gigi dalam menentukan tindakan yang dilakukan. Masih banyak asumsi di masyarakat bahwa foto rontgen gigi kurang dibutuhkan sebelum dilakukan tindakan, misalnya pada pasien yang ingin cabut gigi atau melakukan perawatan saluran akar. Berdasarkan latar belakang tersebut, maka Departemen Radiologi Kedokteran Gigi FKG UNISSULA telah mengadakan Kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat berupa Penyuluhan dan Edukasi untuk Siswa SMA yang berjudul “Peningkatan Pemahaman Dan Justifikasi Pemeriksaan Rontgen Kedokteran Gigi Pada Sivitas SMA 1 Slawi Kabupaten Tegal”. Tujuan pelaksanaan kegiatan penelitian ini adalah mendapat gambaran tingkat pemahaman dan justifikasi pemeriksaan rontgen kedokteran gigi pada siswa SMA 1 Slawi Kabupaten Tegal. Kegiatan ini telah dilaksanakan dengan metode tatap muka dengan melakukan penyuluhan tentang peranan rontgen kedokteran gigi, Berdasarkan hasil penyuluhan dan pengisian kuisioner “Peningkatan Pemahaman Dan Justifikasi Pemeriksaan Rontgen Kedokteran Gigi Pada Sivitas SMA 1 Slawi Kabupaten Tegal”pada saat sebelum dan setelah kegiatan diperoleh bahwa sebelum dilakukan sosialisasi mengenai pentingnya pemeriksaan rontgen di kedokteran gigi didapatkan 49,2% atau sebanyak 27 responden belum mengetahui mengapa harus dilakukan rontgen dikedokteran gigi dan setalah dilakukan sosialisasi didapatkan 94,5% atau sebanyak 52 responden sudah mengetahui alasan mengapa dilakukan pemeriksaan rontgen di kedokteran gigi. Hasil dari kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa siswa awalnya belum mengetahui tentang pemahaman pemeriksaan rontgen dikedokteran gigi sehingga dengan kegiatan ini dapat meningkatkan pemahaman tersebut. Kata Kunci: ALARA, Biological Effect, Justifikasi Radiasi  ABSTRACT The field of Dental Radiology is closely related to radiation exposure. Every radiation exposure will have an effect on our bodies both as patients and as operators. The purpose of radiological examination is to determine the patient's health condition through radiology technology. The procedures that are usually performed by dentists often require x-rays to plan treatment or evaluate treatment. However, geographical, demographic and sociological factors sometimes result in patients not being able to reach the x-ray facility. Likewise, public knowledge about the importance of dental X-rays in determining the action to be taken. There are still many assumptions in the community that dental X-rays are not needed before surgery, for example in patients who want to extract teeth or perform root canal treatment. Based on this background, the Department of Dental Radiology, FKG UNISSULA has been hold Community Service Activities in the form of Counseling and Education for High School Students entitled "Improving Understanding and Justification of Dental X-Ray Examination in Civitas SMA 1 Slawi, Tegal "The purpose of this research is to get overview of knowledge and justification understanding about dental radiology examination on SMA 1 Slawi civitas. This research has been hold by face to face method with given presentation about dental radiology. Based on the results of counseling and filling out the questionnaire "Increasing Understanding and Justification of Dental X-Ray Examination in the Community of SMA 1 Slawi Tegal" it was found that prior to socialization regarding the importance of X-ray examinations in dentistry, 49.2% or as many as 27 respondents did not know why X-rays should be done in dentistry and after the socialization was carried out, it was found that 94.5% or as many as 52 respondents already knew why X-ray examinations were carried out in dentistry. These results show the improvement of efforts to increase understanding and justification for X-ray examination in dentistry. Keywords: ALARA, Biological Effect, Radiation Justification
