Abstract

The deficient student reading interest and the lack of learning media in the school lead to a common understanding ofstudents' reading on learning materials. This research aims to develop and test the feasibility and effectiveness of picturebook media. This research uses research and development with Sugiyono model. The results showed that the feasibilityof material in picture storybooks was rated feasible (81.81%), while media eligibility in picture storybooks was ratedhighly feasible (91.67%). Based on the average difference through the t-test showed that sig (2-tailed) 0.000 0.05, itwas concluded that the average value between pretest and posttest had significant changes and an average increase throughthe calculation of n-gain of 0.621 with a moderate category.Keywords: picture storybooks; reading ability; reading comprehension

Abstract

This study was conducted based on the problem found in the teaching and learning process of civic education subject that has not used various learning model yet. In fact, this phenomenon caused the low achievement of students in this subject. Further, this study was intended to develop an edutainment-based probing-prompting learning model for teaching civic education subject. For more, the research and development design was employed to purse this objective. Meanwhile, the data collection techniques used were questionnaire, observation, interview, tests, and documentation. Accordingly, the result showed that: (1) the learning model was developed regarding learning model components as well as teachers and students' needs; (2) the material experts gave 85% score (feasible), while the experts of learning model gave 81.25% score (feasible); (3) there found cognitive learning achievement average with t-test value as many as -6.298 and also improvement of 0.48 with fair criterion. The developed model also gave effective result on the affective and psychomotor learning achievement with the averages of 88.49 and 91.27. Therefore, this study concludes that the edutainment-based probing-prompting learning model is feasible and effective for teaching civic education subject. Also, this study suggests that this product is used by teachers to improve students' learning achievement.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between the role of parents on learning outcomes, examine the relationship between student learning motivation and student learning outcomes and examine the relationship between the role of parents and student learning motivation on student learning outcomes in fourth grade SD Gugus Wijaya Kusuma Semarang City. This research uses quantitative methods. The type of research used is correlation. The sample technique used is Proportional Random Sampling as many as 124 students. Collecting data using questionnaires, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique is descriptive statistical analysis and product moment analysis. The results showed that: (1) there was a positive and significant relationship between the role of parents and learning outcomes, the value of rcount = 0.665 and included in the strong category and contributed 44, 2%; (2) there is a positive and significant relationship between student motivation and learning outcomes, the value of rcount = 0.802 and is included in the strong category and contributes 64.3%; (3) there is a positive and significant relationship between the role of parents and students' learning motivation together with learning outcomes, the value of rcount = 0.802 is included in the strong category and contributes 64.29%. The conclusion of this study is that there is a positive and significant relationship between the role of parents and learning motivation to learn together with student learning outcomes, especially in class IV SDN Gugus Wijaya Kusuma Semarang City. (3) there is a positive and significant relationship between the role of parents and students' learning motivation together with learning outcomes, the value of rcount = 0.802 is included in the strong category and contributes 64.29%. Abstract

The problem found in Elementary School Ahmad Yani cluster Kendal was the low learning achievement of IPS subject. This was caused by several aspects such as the less varied learning model, the inability of students to use their own knowledge, and lack of critical thinking in problem solving. Therefore, there is a need to provide innovative model to create more effective teaching and learning process. To answer such problem, this study used Quasi-Experimental research method with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Through this design, the researchers involved all the third grade of Elementary School in Ahmad Yani Cluster Kendal as the population of this study. They were sampled by using cluster sampling. After the samples were obtained, the researchers decided experimental and control groups. They were as many as 28 students of SD 2 Campurejo involved as the experimental group, while 22 students of SD 2 Tampingan as the control group. In addition, the dependent variable of this study was Think Pair Share model, while the independent variable was IPS subject learning achievement with the topic of the history of currency. Their data were collected using observation, documentation and tests. Meanwhile, the hypotheses and effectiveness were examined by using t-test and gain test. The results of the study showed that Think Pair Share model was effective toward IPS subject learning achievement of the third grade students with the topic of the history of currency. Further, the posttest average score of experimental class was higher than control class. Also, the posttest mean of experimental group was 78.6 and the posttest mean of control group was 67.7. Moreover, the calculation of gain index showed that experimental class was on fair category with the score of 0.6180, while the control class achieved the criteria as many as 0.4055. At last, this study suggests that TPS model is better to use in any subjects in order to create innovative teaching and learning.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui keterampilan pemahaman dogeng setelah adanya penerapan strategi interactive read alouds, menganalisis perubahan tingkah laku siswa setelah pembelajaran dongeng dengan strategi interactive read alouds, mengetahui pelaksanaan pembelajaran dengan strategi interactive read alouds dalam optimalisasi keterampilan pemahaman dongeng siswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian menggunakan random sampling secara undian. Jumlah siswa yang dijadikan sampel adalah 25 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, dokumentasi, catatan lapangan dan angket. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis mix methode antara kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian ini antara lain: 1) anak mengetahui keterampilan pemahaman dogeng setelah adanya penerapan strategi interactive read alouds, dengan memahami bacaan, membuat prediksi, membuat koneksi, meringkas, mengambil kesimpulan dengan kriteria berhasil. 2) Perubahan tingkah laku siswa setelah pembelajaran dongeng dengan strategi interactive read aloud dengan hasil sangat baik. 3) Pelaksanaan pembelajaran dengan strategi interactive read alouds dalam optimalisasi keterampilan pemahaman dongeng siswa bisa berjalan dengan sangat baik dan maksimal.
