Abstract

Fair Trade (FT) coffee has a higher production volume than other coffee certifications. This phenomenon is triggered by a shift that is influenced consumer behavior patterns. This study analyzes consumer characteristics, purchasing decisions, and satisfaction in buying FT coffee. A cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach was used as the research design. Data were obtained by distributing online questionnaires to 120 respondents using a voluntary sampling technique. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI), and Importance Performance Analysis (IPA). The results showed that most respondents were male, with an undergraduate degree and unmarried status. Trends and easy to get drink influence the main reason for purchasing. The main source of information comes from friends who focus on the coffee's taste and flavor. Consumers will continue to buy coffee even though prices have increased. Through CSI calculation, customer satisfaction is worth 74.04%. The results of the IPA calculation show that the main attributes to be improved are price, sales location, and information provision. The results of this study can be used as information on developing a marketing strategy that is adjusted to evaluate consumer expectations. Keywords: characteristics, consumer behavior, fair trade coffee, purchasing decision, satisfaction

Abstract

The application of the practice of grafting technology to people's coffee plants is very encouraged by the people of Bengkulu Province. This of course cannot be separated from the factors that influence people in practicing grafting. Based on this phenomenon, this research was conducted to find out the internal and external factors that influence people to practice grafting in Bengkulu Province. This research is quantitative, primary data was obtained through a questionnaire by distributing a list of questions that had been prepared. The sample was selected using the multi-stage sampling method. The total number of frame samples was 326, consisting of 120 grafted frame samples and 206 coffee frame samples that had not been grafted. Coffee plants can be propagated vegetatively, that is, using parts of the plant itself, and generatively, that is, using seeds or grains. Grafting in coffee plants is vegetative propagation. The research results show that internal factors inherent in coffee farmers in Bengkulu are the dominant drivers in adopting grafting technology, that is the farmer's age, knowledge, experience in the field of grafting, convenience, and results obtained

Abstract

One of the production centers for red chili papers is North Sumatra Province. On the other hand, North Sumatra is one of the provinces that underwent agricultural land conversion. This study aims to examine how the size of the farm's land affects the farm performance of the red chili pepper crop in North Sumatra, measured by revenue, cost, income, and efficiency. The study was conducted in 2022–2023 using data from 1.876 farmers and secondary data from SHR2014 and BPS. The study employs two main research methods: (1) an analysis of revenue, cost, income, and revenue of cost ratio and (2) the use of the Kruskal-Wallis test to determine the impact of land size on farm performance. According to this study, the small-sized land farmers generate the highest total cost, and the large-sized land farmers use the lowest cost of production. On the other hand, the total revenue produced by small-sized land farmers has the highest cost, and the large-sized land farmers generate the lowest total revenue. Income calculation stated that small land farmers get the smallest income on cash cost, and large land farmers generate the most significant income. Thus, large land farmers achieve the highest revenue-of-cost ratio. According to the Kruskall-Wallis test, the land size affects the following: revenue, cost, income, and revenue of cost ratio. Consequently, it may be said that land area impacts the performance of red chili pepper farms.

Abstract

The sustainability of rice farming in Indonesia faces serious challenges, particularly related to environmental degradation and the weak regeneration of farmers. In this context, millennial farmers are considered strategic actors in driving the transformation toward sustainable rice farming based on agripreneurship. This study aims to analyze the levels of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation among millennial farmers and to examine their relationships with demographic characteristics in the implementation of sustainable rice farming. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey of 256 millennial farmers across major rice-producing provinces in Indonesia, namely West Java, Central Java, East Java, Banten, South Sulawesi, and South Sumatra. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale and analyzed using descriptive statistics as well as Pearson and Spearman correlation analyses according to the measurement scales of the variables. The results indicate that both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation levels among millennial farmers are high, with intrinsic motivation emerging as the dominant driving factor. Correlation analysis reveals that age has a positive and significant relationship with both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, although the strength of the relationship is relatively weak. In contrast, educational attainment and the number of family dependents show no significant relationship with either type of motivation. These findings suggest that the motivation of millennial farmers is shaped more by experiential factors and individual maturation processes than by structural demographic attributes. This study provides important policy implications for farmer regeneration strategies and the development of sustainable rice farming by emphasizing experience-based approaches, the strengthening of intrinsic values, and incentive support tailored to the life stages of millennial farmers.
