Abstract

This writing presents the development of mazhab (Islamic school of thought and law) and sects in Indonesia, including discussion the sects that are considered deviating. From social-religious perspective, the development of mazhab and sects in Indonesia is correlated with the development of science and social-religious dynamics of one society. Looking from the perspective of mazhab, Muslim in Indonesia is not only concentrated to Sunni (Syafi’i, Maliki, Hanafi, and Hambali), but also to Syiah that began to reveal in 1990s. Meanwhile, from the development of sects, there is a more dynamic and progressive phenomenon, which frequently goes beyond Muslim’s logic and belief. The revealing sects are actually not the development or extension of conventional sects in Islam, such as Qodiriyah, Jabariyah, and Asyariyah, anymore. The development of the sects has come to theological-pluralist development. However, this writing is to assert that the recent occurrence phenomena of various sects in Indonesia is actually not something new, instead of the extension of mysticism practice.

Abstract

KH. Imam Zarkasyi is one of the founders of Islamic Boarding School “Darussalam” Gontor (PMDG) and at once became a national figure. Author describes multicultural education in the perspective KH Imam Zarkasyi, then take measurements on the practice of multicultural education in PMDG. This study suggests, since KH. Imam Zarkasyi PMDG founded in 1926 have established an atmosphere of multicultural education are covered by the system of formal curriculum and daily life activities. Under the existing system, Pondok Modern Gontor potential to develop multicultural education insightful and worthy of being an example of successful implementation of multicultural education in Indonesia. It can be seen from classroom practice, exchange dormitory, five principal of boarding, interaction between the consulate, and the synthesis of education applied in Pondok Modern Gontor for many years.

Abstract

Abstract

Zainal Abidin Ahmad is a prominent Muslim intellectual and political expert from Masyumi who was formed by self-made or self-taught who lived before and after the independence of Indonesia. His ability mastering Arabic, Dutch and English is the most valuable asset so that he is able to master knowledge independently. This makes him in tune with other Masyumi leaders who have formal education graduates. He was also known as the "ideologue" of the Masyumi Party and held the post of Deputy chairman of the Majelis Perwakilan Rakyat Sementara (MPRS) as well as party envoy to the constituent assembly of 1955. However, he was not well known in comparison to other Masyumi figures such as Mohammad Natsir and Sjafruddin Prawiranegara. Zainal Abidin Ahmad poured his thoughts by writing books related to Islamic politics. The number of books he wrote was no less than 30 titles. This achievement made him one of the most prominent Islamic figures to write books in his era. The books he wrote are always related to Islam, especially with regard to Islamic political thought of the ancients or ideas that have relevance in its time. This article keen interest in synthesizing Islam with the state, and also highlights his various political views as well as analyzes Ahmad's in practical politics through his works.

Abstract

Usaha pengembangan ilmu politik di Indonesia melalui inovasi-inovasi senantiasa menghadapi kondisi eksternal yang berubah menjadi ancaman di satu sisi, dan menjadi tantangan di sisi lain. Namun demikian, inovasi pengembangan ilmu politik di Universitas Indonesia (UI) cenderung menunjukkan keunggulan dalam mengatasi ancaman maupun tantangan tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui dan menggambarkan sumber-sumber daya dan strategi inovasi yang didayagunakan UI dalam pengembangan ilmu politik yang inovatif dan unggul. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan jenis penelitian deskriptif studi ini menunjukkan bahwa inovasi pengembangan ilmu politik UI memiliki karakteristik sebagai berikut, pertama, jenis dukungan sumber-sumber daya berbentuk pusat talenta, peningkatan Sumber Daya Manusia, dan penguatan sarana dan prasarana; Kedua, penguatan tata kelola berbasis Good University Governance (GUG); Ketiga, kolaborasi dengan pendekatan N-Helix dengan salah satu wujud seperti joint research dan publikasi bersama; dan keempat, penciptaan dan penerapan nilai, yang dikenal dengan 9 budaya nilai UI, melalui startegi transformasi. Artikel ini dapat berkontribusi terhadap perdebatan pola-pola pengembangan ilmu politik di Indonesia melalui strategi inovasi yang digunakan unit pengelola program studi ilmu politik pada perguruan tinggi.
