Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Posing approach and the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach to critical thinking skills. This study is a quasi-experimental study with randomize design pretest-posttest control group design. The population of this study were all class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Sentolo consisting of six classes. From the population, two classes were randomly sampled as the research sample, namely class X MIA 3 and class X MIA 1. In class X MIA 3 students applied learning using the Problem Posing approach and class X MIA 1 students used the CTL approach. The instrument used to collect data is a test of critical thinking skills. To examine the effect of the Problem Posing approach and the CTL approach on critical thinking ability data were analyzed using the t test. The results showed that there were differences in the ability to think critically between classes with learning using the Problem Posing approach and the classroom with learning using the CTL approach, with the average students critical thinking skills in the class with the Problem Posing approach higher than the students critical thinking skills. in the class with the CTL approach.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari penerapan model experiential learning untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa pendidikan matematika. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi experiment dengan desain pretest-posttest kelompok tunggal. Populasi dari penelitian ini mencakup seluruh mahasiswa Pendidikan Matematika di Universitas Alma Ata. Dari populasi yang ada diambil sampel secara acak sebanyak satu kelas sebagai sampel penelitian. Untuk mengumpulkan data penelitian, digunakan instrumen berupa tes kemampuan berpikir kritis. Sedangkan untuk menguji pengaruh penerapan model experiential learning untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis, data dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji-t berpasangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bahwa ada pengaruh penerapan model experiential learning dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa.

Abstract

This study aims to explain how the problem posing approach adopted in the study of mathematics can develop students' critical thinking skills. The method used in this research is literature study (library research). The data in this study is a secondary data such as the results of the research as scientific books, scientific journals, research reports, and other relevant sources. Data analysis techniques in the study include three stages, namely organize, synthesize, and identify.These results showed that the problem posing approach to the stages of learning, among others (1) create a situation of mathematics; (2) create a mathematical question; (3) solve math problem; (4) to apply mathematics, has relevance to the indicators on critical thinking skills, which include interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and decision. Overall, it was concluded that the students' critical thinking skills can be improved by the application of problem posing approach in the learning process.
