Abstract

The relationship between husband and wife in the household is strongly influenced by the socio-cultural conditions of a society. In Indonesia, there are still many facts of life in husband-wife relationships that are still dominated by men in most aspects of life, both the distribution of rights and obligations as well as the authority and involvement of the parties in determining important family steps and decisions. This is because the culture in Indonesia is built on an unbalanced or unequal order in which men are placed as superior parties over inferior women. Husein Muhammad’s thinking can place the issue of husband-wife relations in a balanced and fair manner with all the variations of interpretation from century to century, from one hadith to another, and from one interpreter to another. His notion is also undoubtedly relevant to the concept of psychological well-being, which states that for a person to bring out their best potential, a person must be psychologically well, and one of the aspects that can affect psychological well-being is the pattern of relationships in the family. So, a balanced and fair relationship pattern will bring out the best potential in the family.

Abstract

Abstract

This article analyzes Abu Ubaid's views on the tax system and fiscal policy in Islamic economics, with a focus on their relevance and application in the modern economic context. Through his work Kitab al-Amwal, Abu Ubaid emphasizes the importance of justice and the state's responsibility in wealth management, including taxes such as zakat, kharaj, and jizyah. The purpose of this study is to explore how these principles can be adapted to contemporary fiscal policy. The method used is library research, in which relevant primary and secondary literature is collected and descriptively analyzed to gain a comprehensive understanding of Abu Ubaid's perspective. The findings of this study show that Abu Ubaid's principles of justice and wealth distribution remain relevant in addressing economic inequality in the modern era. The implication is that Islamic economic principles, as proposed by Abu Ubaid, can be integrated into modern tax systems, particularly in Muslim-majority countries, to create a more just and inclusive fiscal system. Thus, Abu Ubaid's views offer a valuable alternative perspective for improving taxation systems and reducing social inequality.

Abstract

This article aims to discuss Abu Yusuf's thoughts and their relevance to Indonesia's post-pandemic economic recovery strategy. This article research uses a qualitative approach with the type of library research. The data collection technique used is documentation, with data analysis techniques in the form of content analysis, induction and deduction. The conclusion from the discussion of this article is as follows. Abu Yusuf's thinking, which emphasizes economic justice, the active role of the state, and fair management and redistribution of wealth, is very relevant to the modern economic context, especially in Indonesia, especially in facing economic challenges exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The study of how these principles can be integrated into contemporary economic systems provides important insights for the development of a more inclusive and sustainable economy. Policymakers should consider a more systematic and coordinated integration of zakat to support social programs and economic development, especially in supporting community groups most affected by the pandemic. It is necessary to implement a fairer and more proportional taxation system, based on the principles of economic justice taught by Abu Yusuf, to ensure a more equal and effective distribution of the tax burden. The state must take a more active role in regulating and supporting critical economic sectors, ensuring that the economic policies implemented can stimulate growth while preventing wider inequality.

Abstract

The integration of Umer Chapra's Islamic economic values into Indonesia's economic policies presents a compelling vision for achieving economic justice, social welfare, and equitable wealth distribution. The aim of this research is to elucidate the main concepts within Chapra's economic thought and analyze the opportunities and challenges associated with integrating these values into Indonesia's economic policies. The research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing literature review and policy analysis. This study involves reviewing books, journal articles, policy documents, and official reports relevant to Islamic economics and Indonesian economic policies. The findings indicate that implementing Chapra's principles through fiscal and monetary policies can significantly enhance economic stability and growth. Successful examples include the use of zakat in Malaysia as a fiscal policy tool for poverty alleviation and the adoption of Shariah-compliant financial products in Saudi Arabia, contributing to economic diversification. Additionally, Islamic values-based economic empowerment programs in Indonesia, such as those implemented by BAZNAS and Dompet Dhuafa, show significant improvements in community welfare, including poverty reduction, increased income levels, and better access to education and healthcare. However, the research also identifies challenges such as efficient and transparent management of zakat funds, increasing public awareness, and expanding the reach of programs to remote areas. Integrating Umer Chapra's Islamic economic values into Indonesia's economic policies can create a more just, inclusive, and sustainable economic system. This research recommends that the government and policymakers strengthen regulatory frameworks, enhance public education, develop innovative financial products, and ensure transparency and accountability in program implementation.

Abstract

This article discusses the Islamic economic thoughts of two prominent figures, Abu Yusuf and M. Umer Chapra, focusing on the main question of how their contributions in different historical contexts can provide insights for the development of Islamic economic theory. Abu Yusuf, a jurist from the Abbasid era, through his work Kitab al-Kharaj, laid the foundation of economic thought focusing on state financial administration, taxation, and social justice. In contrast, M. Umer Chapra, a contemporary economist, integrates Islamic economic principles with modern challenges such as globalization and financial instability, emphasizing the importance of moral values in economics. This research uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach to comparatively analyze the thoughts of these two figures. The main findings indicate that despite the differences in historical context, the thoughts of Abu Yusuf and Chapra complement each other in offering solutions to achieve social justice and economic stability. Abu Yusuf focuses more on technical and administrative aspects, while Chapra emphasizes ethical and moral values. This combination of classical and modern thought provides a strong foundation for the holistic and applicable development of Islamic economics in the contemporary era.

Abstract

This article discusses the issue of zhihar in the context of gender jurisprudence, which often leads to injustices for women within Islamic marriage law. With the growing awareness of gender justice, this research aims to explore the impact of zhihar on women's rights and assess the need for legal reinterpretation to create fairer solutions. The research method employed is a literature analysis, examining various references from accredited books and journals, along with a qualitative approach to understand the perspectives of classical and contemporary scholars. The findings reveal that zhihar, as a legal practice, frequently places women in a disadvantaged position regarding both sanctions and the protection of rights. Additionally, a gender jurisprudence approach can provide new insights for reconstructing this law, offering fairer solutions for both parties. This article recommends more inclusive reforms to Islamic family law and emphasizes the role of scholars in advocating for gender justice as a crucial step toward a more equitable legal system for women.
