Abstract

The quality of education in Indonesia is still very low when compared to the quality of education in other countries. The cause of the low quality of education in Indonesia is the lack of effectiveness, efficiency and standardization of existing education. Even so, the Government continues to strive to improve the education system in order to improve the quality of education in Indonesia so that it can compete with other countries.

Abstract

The State of Indonesia is a unitary state in the form of a Republic or better known as the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. Indonesia is a country that adheres to the Pancasila democratic system. Indonesia is a country based on law not based on mere power. The purpose of education in Indonesia as stated in Law no. 2 of 1989, namely: National education aims to educate the nation and develop Indonesian people as a whole, namely humans who believe and are devoted to God Almighty and have noble character, have knowledge and skills, are physically and mentally healthy, have a strong personality, are independent and responsible. responsibility to society and nation. Education in Indonesia is divided into three main lines, namely: formal, non-formal, and informal education. The types of education are: general, vocational, academic, professional, vocational, religious and special education.

Abstract

The purpose of comparative education is to find out what power differences have given rise to the different forms of education systems in the world. In other words, in one country, for example, religious power is the main driving factor and the basis for the formation of the education system, while in another country social factors are the foundation of an education system. And it has also been explained that there are 6 methods used in comparative education, namely: Historical, Descriptive, Statistical, Philosophical, Comparative, and the last one is Quasi-experimental. For the last one, which is discussing the scope of comparative education where we have explained there are explanations according to 3 experts, namely the first according to William W. Brickman then according to Nicholas Hans and the last according to I.L. Kanderl.

Abstract

Indonesia is still lagging behind Singapore in the field of education. It is evident from the difference in education levels between Indonesia and Singapore, namely, the difference is quite far in the level of basic education in Singapore, which is only 6 years while Indonesia takes 9 years with details of 6 years of elementary school and 3 years of junior high school, the next difference is in the country's secondary education level. Singapore takes 4 to 5 years at this level, while Indonesia takes 3 years but Singapore at this level classifies students' abilities into Express, Normal Academic and Normal Technical, while Indonesia only uses accelerated programs in certain schools. So completion at the intermediate level in Singapore takes 11 years, while in Indonesia it takes 1 year longer, which is 12 years.
