Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk  memberikan gambaran yang jelas tentang pengajaran bahasa Inggris sebagai mata kuliah umum di Universitas Muhammadiyah Luwuk. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan penelitian kualitatif dimana  kusioner dan interview digunakan sebagai instrument untuk mengumpulkan data. Kuesioner berjumlah 20 item dan wawancara berisi 10 pertanyaan. Instrument tersebut ditujukan kepada mahasiswa dan dosen. Peserta dalam penelitian ini berjumlah  44 orang, terbagi dalam 2 kategori; responden pada sesi kuesioner dan informan pada sesi interview. Reponden berjumlah 40 orang dari 3 program studi di Universitas Muhammadiyah Luwuk, terdiri dari 15 orang dari program studi Akuntansi, 15 orang dari program studi Kepemrintahan dan 10 orang dari program studi Pendidikan Agama Islam. Mahasiswa tersebut memprogramkan mata kuliah bahasa Inggris di semester genap tahun akademik 2014/2015.  Sementara  informan sesi wawancara terdiri dari 2 orang dosen, 1 orang dari program studi Akuntansi dan 1 orang dari Pendidikan Agama Islam. Data kemudian di analisis secara deskriptif dengan menggunakan perhitungan sederhana. Berdasarkan temuan hasil penelitian dari kusioner bahwa 95% responden memberikan respon yang sangat baik atau sangat setuju bahwa dosen menciptakan suasana pembelajaran yang menyenangkan, 72.5% responden memberikan respon yang baik atau setuju bahwa dosen menggunakan media, 55% reponden memberikan respon cukup ketika dosen dan mahasiswa tidak tepat waktu  dan 40% reponden memberikan respon rendah atau tidak baik  terhadap dosen yang jarang memberikan tugas. Sebagai kesimpulan, proses pengajaran bahasa Inggris di Universitas Muhammadiyah Luwuk dapat mennghasilkan respon yang sangat baik sekali apabila dosen mampu mendesain materi yang berkenaan dengan program studi mahasiswa serta menggunakan strategi, metode atau pendekatan yang tepat. Abstract

Pada penelitian ini peneliti fokus pada analisis code-mixing didalam percakapan masyarakat kota Luwuk Kabupaten Banggai di masa pandemi Covid-19. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui jenis code-mixing yang digunakan, jenis code-mixing yang paling dominan digunakan, serta faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan terjadinya code-mixing didalam percakapan masyarakat kota Luwuk. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Adapun metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah (1) observasi yakni berupa pengamatan terhadap hasil percakapan berupa rekaman mapun catatan. dan (2) wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa terdapat tiga jenis code-mixing yang terjadi di dalam percakapan masyarakat kota luwuk yakni intra-sentential code-mixing, intra-lexical code-mixing, dan perubahan pengucapan. Dari tiga jenis code-mixing tersebut, jenis intra-sentential merupakan jenis yang paling dominan. Selain itu diperoleh pula factor yang mempengaruhi terjadinya proses code-mixing di dalam percakapan, yakni factor non kebahasan yang meliputi social value perkenalan budaya baru, serta faktor kebahasaan yang meliputi keterbatasan penggunaan kode, penggunaan istilah yang lebih popular, pembicara pribadi pembicara, mitra bicara, topic pembicaraan, fungsi dan tujuan, serta untuk membangkitkan rasa humor.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the type of fillers and factor influenced fillers in English Education Study Program. This research is a qualitative research with in-depth interview design. This data collection involved 7 learners from the 4th semester and 6th semester of English Education Study Program at Muhammadiyah University of Luwuk. This research applied the theory from Rose (1998), Oomen and Postman (2021) in finding the data. The result of this research indicates the learners of English Education Study Program in 4th semester mostly use unlexicalized fillers and the 6th semester mostly use lexicalized fillers. There some factor influenced learners in using fillers are nervousness, divided Attention, infrequent. The dominant factor is nervousness. In this research, the input is suggested for learners, to the department of English Education Study Program and to further researchers to find out more about fillers and factor influenced fillers happened.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence, as a part of information technology, is now playing a key role in education. This aligns with the rapid advancement of technology and the goal of developing 21st-century skills that students will need in the future. Therefore, the urgency of this research is underscored by its alignment with the 4th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), which aims to ensure inclusive, equitable, and quality education while promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all. This study aims to explore the extent of AI technology usage by students in the English learning process at the University of Muhammadiyah Luwuk. This study employs a mixed-methods approach, which involves rigorously studying social and behavioral issues by collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data. The study's findings indicate that most respondents, specifically English education students, are familiar with using AI and frequently incorporate it into their daily lives and learning processes. The AI platforms commonly used by respondents include Perplexity, Turnitin, ChatGPT, Grammarly, Quillbot, Mendeley, and Gamma. Notably, 70% of students positively perceive AI, believing it enhances creativity and innovation. However, 30% of students hold the opposite view. Artificial intelligence technology has the potential to provide both benefits and harm. Therefore, integrating technology into education requires a wise approach to offer maximum benefits without sacrificing students' skills, creativity, and critical thinking development.

Abstract

Bumi Harjo village is one of villages in Moilong sub-district, Banggai Regency, Central Celebes Province, which has been designated as one of the 1000 smart villages in Indonesia. The government’s initiative in this regard was to establish a Village Digital Community Space (RKDD) in each smart village, include in Bumi Harjo. The village government had high hopes for the development of RKDD; however the RKDD did not develop effectively. Therefore, the community service team took steps to assist Bumi Harjo Village Government to realizing their expectations regarding the development of RKDD through of the Revitalization Village Digital Community Space (RKDD) and Establishment of Digital Corner to Realize a Bumi Harjo as a Smart Village. The method used in community service project was Participatory Action research (PAR), an empowerment-oriented approach that addresses to community needs and solves practical problems. The result of this project showed the establishment of a village website based on public services, the improvement of RKDD members’ ability to manage village websiate and social media, and the creation of Digital Corner.

Abstract

This training activity focuses on English language training for early childhood teachers in one of sub-districts in Banggai Regency. This study is aimed at increasing the awareness of the importance of introducing English to early childhood, increasing knowledge of English so that it can be taught to students and finding out learning models for early childhood. This service activity was carried out for 4 months from April to July 2023. According to the agreement with partners at the beginning of the meeting, the training time was held twice by using a face-to-face mode for a month, on Saturdays, to be precise in the first and third weeks. This activity ran smoothly from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon. The location for the training was in one of the Educational office in Luwuk Selatan District, Banggai Regency. The Community Service activity involved PAUD (Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini/Early Childhood Education) teachers as the community service partners, consisting of 15 participants representing their respective schools. Training material regarding language components included vocabulary, pronunciation and spelling. The results of this activity showed that the participants were very enthusiastic about participating in the training. This also succeeded in increasing understanding and broadening partners' insights which was expected to be able to pass on to their respective students. It can be concluded from the results of the community activity that the current activity ran successfully. Based on the results of this research, it is recommended that in the future partners always update their knowledge of English through similar training activities and also be able to apply the knowledge gained to their respective students.
