Abstract

The learning process in the classroom can take place effectively if there is interaction between teachers and students. The interaction can be in the form of a response given by the teacher to student questions or vice versa. This study aims to determine the response of teachers and students after applying the Guided Inquiry Learning (GIL) model in science learning. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative, namely describing the responses of teachers and students based on the answers to the questionnaire. The subjects in this study were students from class VII at one of the State MTs in Sleman Regency for the 2020/2021 academic year. Data were collected using a questionnaire to see the responses of students and teachers, as well as an interview format to see the teacher's response to learning. Based on the answers to the questionnaire, it can be seen that teachers and students gave positive responses to the application of the GIL model in science learning seen from the average score of teacher responses obtained through the questionnaire which was categorized as very interesting, the average score of student activity in each meeting and the average score of student responses obtained through The categorized questionnaire is very interesting.

Abstract

One indication of advancement and change in the world of education is the growth of the learning process. Education is a key indicator of a nation's development, particularly in Indonesia. Physics is a very essential topic, and its changes are readily apparent, particularly in school-based learning activities. It is believed that physics learning activities need to be enhanced in order to produce a more intelligent and competitive generation. The improvement can be started from providing better materials and concepts, one of which is by implementing Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) learning activities by emphasizing critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills, it is hoped that students can be more active and creative in participating in the learning process. The purpose of this article is to determine the effect of questions and worksheets that are integrated with Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) on students' critical thinking skills. The results of the study show that 80% of students can complete physics calculations. However, students have difficulty in interpreting the data provided. The conclusion is that the higher order thinking ability (HOTS) of students is still low in the evaluation category. Because the data found that students were only able to complete physics calculations (inference) but were not able to interpret the answers (evaluation).

Abstract

Students master problem solving skills, which are demands of 21st century life, but in reality students' problem solving abilities are low. This study aims to analyze conceptually to train problem solving skills through the syntax reconstruction of the problem-based learning model. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive method, which describes problem solving skills and analyzes the syntax of the problem-based learning model. Data collection through literature: journals and books. Conceptual study of practicing Problem Solving skills through syntax reconstruction of the Problem-Based Learning Model results in modified syntax that emphasizes strengthening analysis.

Abstract

Science education in junior high school continues to face difficulties in improving student learning outcomes, especially in physical and chemical changes topic. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the experimental learning method in improving student learning outcomes at SMP Negeri 3 Cikancung. The method used in this study is a quantitative approach with a One Group Pretest–Posttest design. Data were analysed using non-parametric statistical tests and N-Gain value calculations to measure the improvement in students' learning outcomes. The normality test showed that the data were not normally distributed, with a p-value of 0.000; therefore, the analysis was continued with the Wilcoxon test. The analysis results showed a significant difference between students' initial and final scores, with p = 0.000. The average final scores of the students increased, with a N-Gain percentage of 78.11%, which is considered high. This finding indicates that implementing experimental methods for the topic of physical and chemical changes is effective in improving students' learning outcomes. This research makes a significant contribution to the development of more innovative teaching methods in science education at the junior high school level.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas pembelajaran langsung (Direct Instruction) berbantuan media PowerPoint (PPT) kontekstual terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar siswa pada materi suhu dan konversi suhu di kelas VII B SMP Kesatuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatn kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen semu dan desain one-group pretest-posttest. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 31 siswa yang diberikan pretest dan posttest untuk mengukur peningkatan hasil belajar. Data dianalisis mengguanakn statistik deskriptif, uji normalitas, dan paired sample t-test dengan bantuan SPSS 26. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata nilai pretest sebesar 41,14 meningkat menjadi 88,52 pada posttest dengan nilai signifikansi 0.00 (< 0,0), artinya terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara hasil belajar sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran. Nilai rata-rata N-Gain sebesar 0.81 menunjukkan kategori peningkatan tinggi. Hasil ini membuktikan bahwa pembelajaran langsung dengan media PowerPoint kontekstual efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa, terutama karena visualisasi materi dan stimulus kontekstual mampu meningkatkan pemahaman konsep serta keterlibatan siswa dalam pembelajara.

Abstract

This study stems from the problem of students' low critical thinking skills in physics learning, particularly in static fluid material. This study aims to analyze the level of students' critical thinking skills based on critical thinking indicators. The researcher positioned himself as an observer who examined students' critical thinking skills through a quantitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection was carried out using an essay test compiled based on critical thinking skill indicators, namely elementary clarification, basic support, inferring, advanced clarification, and strategy and tactics. Supporting data were obtained through observation and interviews to strengthen the analysis results. Data were analyzed by calculating the average value for each indicator and categorizing them into critical thinking skill levels. The results showed that students' critical thinking skills were in the very low category with an average score of 15.93. The indicator with the highest achievement was advanced clarification, while the lowest indicator was strategy and tactics. These findings indicate that students still experience difficulties in conducting analysis, drawing conclusions, and determining problem-solving strategies
