Abstract

Critical thinking is one of the skills needed to face life's challenges. The SETS learning model is centered on surrounding problems by integrating the four elements of SETS, while BYOD can be used to complete tasks anywhere and anytime. The integration of SETS and BYOD is expected to be able to increase students’ critical thinking skills on vibration and wave study. This study aims to determine the improvement of students' critical thinking skills by implementing the SETS model Integrated with BYOD on vibration and wave study for class VIII SMP. The research method used in this study is a quasi-experimental research design with a nonequivalent control group design which was carried out at SMP Negeri 1 Lenteng, Sumenep Regency, for the 2021/2022 Academic Year. Hypothesis testing using the Mann-Whitney test, and analysis of increased students' critical thinking skills using the N-Gain Score test. The results showed that the implementation of the learning implementation of SETS model Integrated with BYOD was a very good category. The implementation of the SETS model Integrated with BYOD affects student’s critical thinking skills. The increase in students' critical thinking skills based on the N-Gain Score test in the experimental class is a medium category, while the control class is a low category. The results of the student response questionnaire to the implementation of the SETS model Integrated with BYOD are in the good category. This study concludes that the implementation of the SETS model Integrated with BYOD on vibration and wave study can make students increase critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The development of technology in the era of society 5.0 has made the educational paradigm change through digitalization in learning. The use of digital learning media platforms that are widely used today is less flexible so it cannot accommodate learning needs in one digital platform. This requires representatives of learning media platforms in facing the digital urgency of the education system in Indonesia. The research method used is netnography which is descriptive qualitative with a grounded theory approach. The data collection technique in this study is to use observations on the use of digital learning media, digital-based in-depth interviews, and library research to present a discovery. The results showed that as many as 82 percent of respondents did not agree with the use of digital learning media platforms with different functions. Because of the many applications that must be used during online learning, thus making learning less effective. The low digital participation makes students only able to access learning media that have been prepared by educators without being able to produce, participate, and collaborate. The cyber metaverse platform connected to BYOD applied in learning can replace various learning media platforms, so that it becomes a platform that can cover all digital functions in learning. The cyber metaverse platform connected to BYOD can be a preventive effort in facing the challenges of the digital world by allowing students to be creative through one digital platform. Perkembangan teknologi di era society 5.0 menjadikan paradigma pendidikan mengalami perubahan melalui digitalisasi dalam pembelajaran. Penggunaan platform media pembelajaran digital yang banyak digunakan saat ini kurang fleksibel sehingga tidak dapat mengakomodasi kebutuhan pembelajaran dalam satu platform digital. Hal tersebut membutuhkan representative platform media pembelajaran dalam menghadapi urgensi digital pada sistem pendidikan di Indonesia. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu netnografi yang bersifat deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan grounded theory. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini yaitu menggunakan observasi terhadap penggunaan media pembelajaran digital, in-depth interview berbasis digital, dan library research untuk menghadirkan suatu penemuan baru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 82 persen responden kurang setuju terhadap penggunaan platform media pembelajaran digital yang berbeda-beda fungsinya. Hal itu karena banyaknya aplikasi yang harus digunakan saat pembelajaran daring, sehingga menjadikan pembelajaran kurang efektif. Rendahnya pertisipasi digital menjadikan mahasiswa hanya dapat mengakses media pembelajaran yang telah disiapkan oleh pendidik tanpa dapat memproduksi, berpartisipasi, dan berkolaborasi. Platform cyber metaverse terkoneksi BYOD yang diterapkan dalam pembelajaran dapat menggantikan berbagai platform media pembelajaran, sehingga menjadi suatu platform yang dapat mencakup semua fungsi digital dalam pembelajaran. Platform cyber metaverse terkoneksi BYOD dapat menjadi upaya preventif dalam menghadapi tantangan dunia digital dengan menjadikan mahasiswa dapat berkreasi melalui satu platform digital.
