Abstract

Pesantren is an institution that focuses on students’ character building. Students have to stay 24 hours in Pesantren to participate in character building conducted by Pesantren. Many people trust to educate their children in Pesantren. Due to people’s trust in Pesantren and 21st century skills that should be conquered, the research was conducted to identify students’ character, scientific reasoning skills, and its’relationship. Result of the research could be the base to develop learning system, instruction, and media. The research was conducted in a survey method, using the LCTSR version of 2000 and character self- assessment. It was conducted in one of Pesantren in Pamekasan. 56 students was participated as the sample of the research. Learning instruction and character building in Pesantren were also described. The result shows that students in Pesantren have hard work character as the highest character scorescore and honesty as the lowest character scorescore. It indicates that Pesantren needs to reform character building program, especially to build honesty. Students’ scientific reasoning skills are low. More than 98% are at a concrete level of cognitive development and there is no correlation between students’ character and scientific reasoning skills. Due to the result, there should be a transformation in the learning system in Pesantren, to improve students’ scientific reasoning skills.

Abstract

Pemahaman konsep merupakan topik yang penting untuk digali dalam penelitian pendidikan IPA, termasuk fisika. Pemahaman konsep yang baik menjadi dasar bagi kemampuan lain yang dibutuhkan pada abad ke-21. Penelitian dengan desain kuantitatif non-eksperimental, ex-post facto dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi bentuk kesalahan pemahaman konsep mahasiswa calon praktisi pendidikan yang selanjutnya dapat dianalisis penyebabnya. Penelitian dilakukan pada obyek sebanyak 110 mahasiswa tahun pertama yang belum mendapatkan perkuliahan terkait listrik searah (DC). Instrumen DIRECT yang telah diterjemahkan dalam bahasa Indonesia disebar ke mahasiswa melalui platform google form. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Soal dengan persentase ketepatan di kelas kurang dari 10% ditampilkan dan digali penyebab dari munculnya fenomena tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penyebab kesalahan pemahaman mahasiswa umumnya adalah penggunaan konsep yang tidak sesuai dengan konteks yang ditampilkan. Hasil penelitian ini dapat dijadikan sebagai dasar untuk menyusun desain pembelajaran atau media pembelajaran yang dapat melatihkan pemahaman konsep mahasiswa.

Abstract

Critical thinking is one of the skills needed to face life's challenges. The SETS learning model is centered on surrounding problems by integrating the four elements of SETS, while BYOD can be used to complete tasks anywhere and anytime. The integration of SETS and BYOD is expected to be able to increase students’ critical thinking skills on vibration and wave study. This study aims to determine the improvement of students' critical thinking skills by implementing the SETS model Integrated with BYOD on vibration and wave study for class VIII SMP. The research method used in this study is a quasi-experimental research design with a nonequivalent control group design which was carried out at SMP Negeri 1 Lenteng, Sumenep Regency, for the 2021/2022 Academic Year. Hypothesis testing using the Mann-Whitney test, and analysis of increased students' critical thinking skills using the N-Gain Score test. The results showed that the implementation of the learning implementation of SETS model Integrated with BYOD was a very good category. The implementation of the SETS model Integrated with BYOD affects student’s critical thinking skills. The increase in students' critical thinking skills based on the N-Gain Score test in the experimental class is a medium category, while the control class is a low category. The results of the student response questionnaire to the implementation of the SETS model Integrated with BYOD are in the good category. This study concludes that the implementation of the SETS model Integrated with BYOD on vibration and wave study can make students increase critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa sebelum dan setelah penerapan model project based learning dengan pendekatan Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM ). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di MTs. Al Asyhar Gresik. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling, yakni siswa kelas VIII A. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan pre-experimental design dengan One group pretest-posttest design. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kuantitatiflitatif  dengan pengumpulan data berupa observasi, tes, angket, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji non parametrik (Uji Wilcoxon). Kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa sebelum dan setelah penerapan project based learning dengan pendekatan STEAM cukup signifikan. Hasil persentase rata-rata kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada pretest sebesar 35,45% dengan kategori rendah. Hasil persentase rata-rata kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada posttest sebesar 62,73% dengan kategori tinggi. Kata Kunci: Berpikir Kritis, Project Based Learning, STEAM   This study aims to determine the differences in students’ critical thinking ability before and after the implementation of project-based learning with the STEAM approach. This study was conducted in MTs Al Asyhar Gresik. Purposive sampling was used on class VIII-A students as a sampling technique. The research method used in this study was a pre-experimental design with one group pretest-posttest design. This research employed quantitative research with data collection of observation, tests, questionnaires, and documentation. The data analysis technique used a non-parametric test (Wilcoxon test). The student’s critical thinking ability before and after the implementation of project-based learning with the STEAM approach is quite significant. The result average percentage of students’ critical thinking ability on the pretest was 35,45% in the low category. On the other hand, the average percentage of students’ critical thinking ability in the post-test was 62,73% in the high category. Keywords: Critical Thinking, Project Based Learning, STEAM.

Abstract

Self-efficacy is one of student’s success predictors, so it should be one of the variables to be considered in learning activities. Research on self-efficacy in pesantren (Islamic boarding school) has not been widely disclosed. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research related to gender-based self-efficacy in pesantren. The study used an ex-post-facto non-experimental quantitative design at one of the pesantren-based SMP and MTs in Pamekasan. There are 29 males and 39 females as the participants of this study. SOSESC-P was used as research instrument. Data were analyzed using t-test. Based on the result, there is no significant difference between the self-efficacy of male and female students in pesantren, with average score of 64.12 and 64.86 respectively. This indicates that the science learning process in pesantren has succeeded in bridging the achievement of self-efficacy of male and female students, with their comprehensive learning concept in 3 dimensions, namely (1) the deep dimension of religious morality, (2) the dimensions of science and technology, and (3) dimensions of skills needed in the 21st century. The result of this study can be used as evidence in policy-making, related to science learning and self-efficacy based on gender.

Abstract

Pembelajaran IPA dengan berpendekatan etnosains masih jarang diterapkan karena kurang maksimal dalam mengeksplorasi dalam mengintegrasikan materi IPA dalam sains ilmiah. Siswa cenderung kurang menyukai belajar IPA yang berkaitan dengan rumus perhitungan serta minimnya penggunaan media pembelajaran yang berbasis etnosains. Solusi yang dapat diberikan adalah dengan mengembangkan media web mobile learning berbasis etnosains pada materi konduktivitas. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kelayakan dan respons siswa terhadap media. Pengembangan ini merupakan pengembangan dengan menggunakan model ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, dan Evaluation). Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 2 Kamal kelas VII-A dengan 28 siswa pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2021-2022. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan angket validasi ahli media, ahli materi, guru IPA, serta respons siswa terhadap media. Berdasarkan penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa : (1) pengembangan media web mobile learning berbasis etnosains pada materi konduktivitas SMP layak digunakan dengan persentase dari ahli media 89.18% dan reliabilitas 93.76%, ahli materi memberikan penilaian dengan kategori layak digunakan dengan skor rata-rata 87.29% dan reliabilitas 95.41%. (2) Respons siswa dengan nilai rata-rata 88.19% dengan kategori sangat baik.Science learning with an ethnoscience approach is still rarely applied because it is not optimal in exploring and integrating science material in scientific science. Student tend not to like learning science related to calculation formulas and the lack of use of ethnoscience-based learning media. The solution that can be given is to develop an ethnoscience-based web mobile learning media on the conductivity material.The purpose of this development is to know the advisability, and responses of student to web mobile learning media. The development is developed by using ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The research was conducted in SMP Negeri 2 Kamal with a sample of 28 students of class VII-A in the even semester of academic year 2021-2022. Data collection techniques using questionnaires are media expert validation questionnaires, material expert validation, science teacher validation, and student responses to the media. Based on the results of the study concluded that : (1) Development of ethnoscience-based mobile learning web mobile learning media on conductivity material for junior high schools is suitable for use with a percentage of media experts 89.18% and reliability 93.76%, material experts provide an assessment with a suitable category for use with an average score 87.29% and reliability 95.41%. (2) Student responses with an average of 88.19% with a very good category.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the mind mapping-based Advance Organizer learning model on students' creative thinking ability. The research method used is Quasi Experimental with the type of Nonequivalent Control Group the Design was carried out at one of Junior High School (JHS) in Ngimbang, Lamongan Regency, for the 2022/2023 Academic Year. Data collection techniques were carried out through tests. Hypothesis testing use independent sample t-test and analysis improving students' creative thinking ability using the N-Gain Score test. The results showed that: 1) There are differences between the creative thinking ability of class students in experimental and control classes with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, 2) There is an increase in students ' creative thinking ability based on the N-Gain test the score in experimental class was 0.68 in medium category and control class it was 0.31 for medium category. We conclude that mind mapping-based Advance Organizer learning model has an influence on students' creative thinking ability.
