The structured idea process method is used to synthesize novelty constructed in the Integrative Sustainable Capability. The Integrative Sustainable Capability is used as a mediator in the relationship between Knowledge Management Capabilities and Entrepreneurial Performance in the context of Eco-print small businesses. The conceptual model was formed by linking these three variables of Knowledge Management and Entrepreneurial Performance with Integrative Sustainable Capability as a mediation derived from the synthesis of novelty process in the context of Eco-print small business.

Abstract

The study explores the strategy of wholesale banking’s digital transformation as a central solution for integrating the digital banking ecosystem across the entire customer-centric value chain, while addressing challenges related to the complexity of transaction structures and the relationship model. A qualitative case study of a leading wholesale bank in Indonesia is used to uncover wholesale banking digitalization strategies for a holistic transformative strategy for the banking financial ecosystem. Thematic analysis of semi-structured interviews with 16 senior executives in relationship and transaction banking managers and triangulated with bank’s reports and websites. The results reveal four thematic themes: single sign-on digital wholesale platform, omnichannel touchpoints, the use of artificial intelligence, and big data analytics. This study contributes to the theory of dynamic capabilities and open innovation by identifying the transformative and strategic dynamics of wholesale digitalization and its role in navigating the orchestration of the banking ecosystem by emphasizing the role of digital capabilities in extracting the potential value chain. This study provides a nuanced understanding of wholesale digital platform solutions for banks, serving as a reference for providing access across the entire banking ecosystem by forming partnerships within the ecosystem, leveraging artificial intelligence, personalizing transactional suites, and implementing seamless onboarding. Keywords: Digital Wholesale Banking Strategy, Digital Banking Ecosystem, Open Innovation, Dynamic Capabilities, Single Sign-On Digital Wholesale Platform, Omnichannel  Touchpoints, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analytics

Abstract

The digitalization of the financial sector is frequently framed as a technical solution to enhance financial inclusion and expand micro, small, and medium enterprises’ (MSMEs) access to capital. Through fintech platforms, digital payment systems, and data-driven credit assessments, digital finance is widely expected to reduce information asymmetry and lower entry barriers for small businesses. However, this perspective often assumes that expanded access automatically leads to stronger business resilience. This paper challenges that assumption by arguing that financial digitalization increasingly operates as a gatekeeping system that differentiates MSMEs based on their capacity to generate, manage, and comply with digital data requirements. While policy discussions commonly emphasize digital literacy and technological readiness, limited attention has been given to how algorithm-based evaluations, platform compliance standards, and data dependency reshape the conditions under which MSMEs are recognized as “bankable” or “investable.” A critical review of the literature suggests that participation in digital financial systems is not merely a matter of access, but of alignment with platform-defined metrics that implicitly privilege certain business behaviors while excluding others. As a result, many MSMEs do not reject digital finance in principle, but face heightened exposure to operational risk, opacity in decision-making processes, and uncertainty regarding their long-term position within platform-based financial ecosystems. This paper seeks to identify conceptual and policy gaps in existing discussions on financial digitalization and MSMEs by shifting the analytical focus from access expansion toward the structural role of digital finance in shaping business survival. By situating financial digitalization within a broader sustainable development framework, the study underscores the need for governance approaches that address digital gatekeeping and prevent financial inclusion from evolving into a new form of exclusion.
