Abstract

Abstract Background: Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU) is a microvascular complication in diabetes mellitus which allows it to be prevented through multidisciplinary collaboration that involves the active participation of patients, namely the application of self-care behavior. But unfortunately self-care behavior itself is still relatively low. Many studies have identified the relationship between knowledge and behavior to prevent LKD, but knowledge is not the only factor that influences this. Illness perceptions is a person's point of view that plays an important role in behavior and decision making. So, it is necessary to identify the dominant aspects of illness perceptions in DFU patients. Objective: This study aims to identify the dominant aspects of illness perceptions on LKD patients. Methods: This research design uses a descriptive quantitative method with data collection through a questionnaire survey. Results: This study used 43 samples after being identified there were 2 dominant aspects of illness perception in LKD patients, namely aspects of treatment control and coherence. Conclusion: The higher the patient's confidence in the treatment control and understanding of the disease, the better the foot care will be. Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a disease characterized by high blood sugar levels due to the accumulation of unhealthy lifestyles since adolescence. Behavior including prevention and treatment of diabetes mellitus depends on adolescents' knowledge about diabetes so it needs to be studied. This study aims to describe knowledge about diabetes mellitus in adolescents in the working area of ​​Martapura 1 Health Center, Banjar Regency. This quantitative research with a descriptive analytical design was conducted on 30 adolescents in the working area of ​​Martapura 1 Health Center, Banjar Regency who were selected using purposive sampling techniques using questionnaires and analyzed using univariate techniques. The majority of respondents, 12 out of 30 (40%) were in the early adolescent age group (10-14 years) and the majority of respondents, 19 out of 30 (60%) were male. The majority of respondents, 17 out of 30 (56.7%) were identified as having insufficient knowledge about diabetes mellitus. Health education about diabetes mellitus in adolescents needs to be improved by utilizing digital media and peer approach methods.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a disorder of carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism characterized by hyperglycemia. Hyperglycemia can occur due to decreased insulin action. Diabetes Mellitus sufferers experience changes and imbalances in various aspects of their lives that interfere with daily activities, this condition can reduce the sufferer's quality of life. Pekauman Health Center Banjarmasin is the health center with the most cases of diabetes mellitus in Banjarmasin city with an increase from 111 patients in December 2023 to 137 patients in January 2024. This study aims to describe the quality of life of Diabetes Mellitus patients at the Pekauman Banjarmasin Community Health Center. This quantitative research with a descriptive analytical design was carried out on 48 patients suffering from Diabetes Mellitus who were selected using a purposive sampling technique using the EQ5D-5L questionnaire which was analyzed univariately. The majority of respondents were adults (72.9%), women (62.5%), had a BMI of Obesity I (37.5%), and suffered from Diabetes Mellitus ?1 year (60.4%). The quality of life of most Diabetes Mellitus sufferers is in the poor category (56.3%). The quality of life of Diabetes Mellitus patients is included in the poor category with the dominant symptom being anxiety. The poor quality of life in Diabetes Mellitus sufferers is related to the characteristics of the majority of respondents being women aged >50 years who have a BMI category of Obesity I and have suffered from DM for ?1 year.
