Abstract

Environmental conditions can affect insect diversity. Different plantation conditions give rise to changes in the composition of insects. The study aims to determine the diversity of insects in high and low topography. The research was conducted at PT. Djuandasawit Lestari, Muara Tawas Estate located in Musi Rawas, South Sumatra, from December 2022 to March 2023.  The study used purposive sampling methods that are descriptive and exploratory. The study used 2 plantation blocks R58 and Q59), each block has a high and low topographic area. Each block made 10 observation plots with a size of 5 x 5 meters spread in five plots for low and high areas by taking into account the diversity of vegetation. Each research plot was installed with 4 traps, namely pan trap, pitfall trap, sticky trap and sweep net for 10 days of observation. The insects were identified their classification, and diversity index calculated by the Shannon-Wienner and Simpson dominance. The results showed that the abundance of insects in low-level topography was more than in high-altitude topography. A total of 708 individuals were found spread across 12 orders and 27 families in low topography, while in high topography only 537 individuals were found spread across 12 orders and 26 families. The index of insect dominance in lowly and high areas is low. The insects found are mostly predatory insects.

Abstract

Palm oil productivity is influenced by many factors. One factor is crop rotation. Harvest rotation greatly influences productivity in oil palm plantations. Obstructed harvest rotation causes the number of fruit bunches to increase in an area compared to the weight of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) harvested. The percentage of brondol in oil palm plantations is very important because it will affect the average bushel weight (BJR) and payments to employees for oil palm plantation companies. The decrease in BJR due to the high percentage of brondol will also have an impact on the morale of workers, especially harvesters on oil palm plantations because the harvest base will be higher to get a harvest premium. This research aims to determine the comparison of the percentage of brondol in various areas, namely hilly, lowland and plain areas and to find out the causes of the high percentage of brondol in the treatment blocks. This research uses an agronomic trait survey method by observing secondary data on productivity and percentage of brondol in the last six years, then analyzed using the t test at a level of 5%.  This research was carried out at PT. Cahaya Nusa Gemilang (CNG) Kenanga Estate garden, Marau District, Ketapang Regency, West Kalimantan. The results of the analysis show that plain areas have the best productivity and percentage of brondol compared to lowland and hilly areas.

Abstract

Kwadungan Gunung Village, located in Kledung Sub-district, Temanggung Regency, is a region characterized by its agricultural nature and sloping topography. This results in a significant risk of soil and water damage owing to erosion. The survey and land analysis indicate that erosion has transpired in many locations, ranging from low to medium severity. Furthermore, numerous constraints imposed by farmers suggest that there is a relatively restricted supply of water during the dry season. Hence, it is imperative to implement genuine measures for soil and water conservation. The primary goal of this empowerment is to enhance the comprehension and implementation of soil and water conservation practices among local farmers. The aim is to ensure that the agricultural cultivation business in Kwadungan Gunung Village operates in a sustainable. Initially, discussing sessions on soil and water conservation were carried out in partnership with the local government of Kwadungan Gunung Village. Result showed that farmers have applied conservation measures, albeit to a limited scale. The favorable reception of the extension initiatives indicates the capacity to enhance the use of conservation practices. Subsequently, a demonstration plot will be created to showcase soil and water conservation measures. This plot will function as a tangible example for farmers and will also be included in the farm evaluation process. This demonstrates the unwavering dedication of the agricultural community to the principles of sustainable farming and environmental preservation.

Abstract

The oil palm yield depends on its genetic and the interaction with environmental factors is affected by spatial arrangement of palm trees. The research objectives are to determine the effect of population density and planting year on oil palm productivity and vegetative growth. This research uses a factorial design arranged with a randomized complete design. Secondary data are palm productivity, fresh bunch number and bunch weight that were collected for three years (2019—2022). Primary data are stem height, frond length, and stem gird which were measured on 90 trees for each treatment combination. There are nine combinations with 810 palm trees that were sampled from 27 estate blocks (30 hectares for one block). The results showed that productivity and amount of oil palm FFB at densities ≥ 142, 136-141, and ≤ 135 SPH and planting years 2007, 2009 and 2011 (mature crop 12-15, 10-13, and 8-11 years) did not show significant differences. The heavier bunch weight was produced palm tree planted in 2007 with density ± 135 trees.ha-1.

Abstract

Keanekaragaman serangga pada tanaman kelapa sawit (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) di Kabupaten Kota Waringin, Kalimantan Tengah belum banyak di lakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keanekaragaman serangga diatas permukaan tanah dan mengetahui fungsi masing-masing serangga yang terdapat pada perkebunan kelapa sawit di provinsi Kalimantan Tengah. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pengambilan langsung, jaring ayun (sweep net) dan pitfall trap. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan perangkap jaring ayun (sweep net) merupakan perangkap yang paling efektif dalam menangkap serangga dibandingkan perangkap lainnya. Serangga yang terdapat pada perkebunan kelapa sawit di provinsi Kalimantan tengah terdiri atas 9 ordo dan 21 famili. Serangga yang ditangkap berperan sebagai fitofag, entomofag dan scavenger. Keanekaragaman serangga pada perkebunan kelapa sawit yang terdapat di Afdeling 11, Afdeling 12 dan Afdeling 8 termasuk kriteria tinggi.
