Abstract

ABSTRACTPopulation Parameters of Tropical Mudflat Clam, (Anodontia edentula) in MangroveEcosystem. Over a 12 months period (Januari 2005 – Desember 2005), population parameters oftropical mudflat clam, (Anodonta edentula) in mangrove ecosystem were determined. Theobjectives of this research were to study population parameters (growth, recruitment patternand mortality) of this tropical mudflat clam. The results showed that asymtotic length (Linfinity) of males, females, also males and females combined were 65.63 mm, 70.88mm and 70.58mm, and the size of males was less than females; annual growth coefficient (K) of males, females, also males and females combined were 1.3, 1.5 and 1.5 respectively, which indicateda fast growth of the clams in relatively short period, which were 2.3 years for the males, 2 yearsfor the females, and 2.1 year for males and females combined. Subsequently, total mortalityrate (Z) of the males, females, also males and females combined were 4.56 ± 0.31, 4.61 ± 0.65, and4.95 ± 0.43. These high rates were caused by the extreme life condition, also by the thin andfragile shells of the clams. Recruitment occurred every month in the males, females, and alsomales and females combined. Overall, there were two unequal pulses. The peaks of males werein June (12.38%) and October (14.77%), while in the females were in April (16.88%) and August(15.12%), and in the males and females combined were in March (12.67%) and May (20.26%).Keywords : Mudflat clam, growth, mortality, recruitment.Kata kunci: Kerang lumpur tropis, pertumbuhan, kematian, rekrutmen

Abstract

Gastropoda diversities can be used as an ocean health index The higher the species diversity of marine gastropod s, the better the ocean environment. Recently, there is no publication on gastropod communities in the intertidal zone of Seri District, Ambon, Indonesia. The research on gastropoda communities was conducted in July 2023 at the intertidal zone of Seri district, Ambon. The objectives of the research were to identify the species of gastropods, to analyze its ecological density and abundance, and also to analyze gastropod diversity indices. Sampling was done at three sampling sites with simple random sampling method during low tide with applying sampling kuadrat about 5x5m. A total of 21 species of marine gastropod were found in this study which grouped into six ordo, 11 family and 16 genera. The higest number of species found in the ordo of Neogastropoda. Patelloida striata has the highest ecological density in station 1 and station 2 (7 individu.m-2 and 11 individu.m-2, respectively), whereas Patteloida saccarinoides and Nerita polita have the highest ecological density in station 2 (each has 8,47 individu.m-2). Shannon diversity index (H`) varied between 1,987 and 1,984. Pielou evenness index (J`) ranged from 0,656 to 0,903. Whereas Simpson dominance index (D) varied from 0,146 to 0,223. It can be concluded that gastropod species diversity in the intertidal zone of Seri District was categorized as low diversity, evenness index was moderate to higher, while there was no dominance species in the communities.

Abstract

The Fisheries Management Area (FMA 714) has great potential for reef fish with high diversity. However, exploitation of reef fish, especially grouper in FMA 714 is also high to meet national and international market demand. One of the species of grouper is Cephalopholis sexmaculata from the Serranidae family. This research was conducted with the aim to determine genetic distance and phylogenetic relationships as well as genetic diversity, population structure and genetic connectivity of the C. sexmaculata in conservation areas and fishing areas in FMA 714 using DNA barcoding. Samples of C. sexmaculata were collected using a survey method with analyzes carried out including molecular analysis, phylogenetic relationships as well as genetic diversity and connectivity. The results of the research show that the C. sexmaculata population in FMA 714 has a very close relationship with the the values of genetic distance ranging from 0-10.9%. The genetic diversity obtained also shows the value of 1 which is categorized as high in each population. The connectivity formed from the population structure of this species indicates the existence of genetic exchange between the C. sexmaculatapopulation in the conservation area and the fishing area in FMA 714. Abstract

Inner Ambon Bay has quite abundant fishery resources. Mollusks are one of the aquatic resources in Inner Ambon Bay, and have been used by the community for a long time. Environmental damage due to settlement expansion, sand mining, resort and café construction as well as over-harvesting of biota have an impact on the sustainability of mollusks in the waters of Inner Ambon Bay. This study aims to analyze the community structure of mollusks which include density, abundance, diversity, diversity and dominance as well as distribution patterns. This research was conducted in January 2024, using the square transect method at three research locations. Namely Tanjung Tiram, Poka Village, Waiheru Beach and Passo Beach. The mollusks obtained were 36 species consisting of 22 species of the gastropod class and 14 species of the bivalve class. The most widely found mollusks are mollusks of the class of gastropods of the family Nassaridae species Hebra corticata, and species that the least found were from the Genus Bursa, Cymatium and Nerita, the value of the diversity index (H') = 2.166, the diversity index (E) = 0.604 and the dominance index (D) = 0.236. Patterns of dispersal of mollusks are random and in groups.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the length-weight relationship, growth pattern and gonad maturity level of the population. Data were collected at the Erie Village Fish Landing Site (PPI), Nusaniwe District, Ambon City, during the period August 2024-January 2025. Samples of mackerel scad obtained were measured for body length and body weight, then analyzed using linear regression and multiple analysis methods to examine fish length-weight relationships and growth patterns, as well as making visual observations of gonad samples with reference to the standard gonad maturity scale to determine the level of gonad maturity of the mackerel scad obtained. The results showed that the coefficient value (b) in the study period ranged from 2.8296-3.2560 with isometric growth pattern (b=3) in January and March, August, September, October and December with positive allometric pattern (b>3) and negative allometric pattern (b<3) in November, February and April. In addition, the distribution of TKG mackerel scad with maturity levels III and IV was found in almost every month of the study. Based on these results, it can be concluded that mackerel scad from the studied population experienced balanced growth in length and body weight in almost every month of capture and proved that mackerel scad spawns throughout the year with the peak spawning season in September-January. This condition needs to be maintained so that the capture and utilization process is in line with the fisheries management strategy to ensure the preservation of a balanced stock of mackerel scad in the water area.
