Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengelolaan hutan dan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor apa yang mempengaruhi masyarakat dalam pengelolaan hutan Desa Amuma Kecamatan Amuma Kabupaten Yahukimo Provinsi Papua. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 32 kk dengan teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara acak sederhana. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan pengamatan (Observasi) langsung dilapangan dan menggunakan dokumentasi. Penelitian menunjukkan pengelolaan hutan Desa Amuma Kecamatan Amuma Kabupaten Yahumimo meliputi penanaman, pemeliharaan, pemanenan dan penjualan. Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi masyarakat dalam pengelolaan hutan Desa Amuma Kecamatan Amuma Kabupaten Yahukimo adalah faktor sosial, ekonomi dan lingkungan.

Abstract

The Rongkong Watershed (DAS) in North Luwu Regency is a strategic area in flash flood control, but it also represents a space of ecological and social trauma after the 2020 flash flood event. Until now, the management of the Rongkong watershed has tended to be dominated by technical and structural approaches, such as the construction of dams, hydrological monitoring stations, and the reforestation of critical land, while the social dimension of community perception and collective conservation behavior has not been the main focus. This study aims to analyze the social perception of the community towards the degradation of the Rongkong watershed and its influence on the formation of collective conservation behavior after the disaster. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving 12 key informants who were purposively selected from the upstream, middle, and downstream watersheds. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation, then analyzed using thematic analysis. The results show that the direct experience of flash floods shapes diverse social perceptions, ranging from reflective perceptions that view watershed degradation as a shared ecological threat to passive perceptions that place disasters as external phenomena. Reflective perceptions tend to encourage community participation in collective conservation activities, such as reforestation and environmental mutual cooperation, while passive perceptions underscore social engagement and reliance on structural interventions. This study concludes that the effectiveness of watershed management is not only determined by technical solutions, but is greatly influenced by how communities interpret watershed degradation and its social role in conservation efforts, so that the integration of social perception dimensions is key in community-based sustainable watershed management.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze changes in land cover between 2018 and 2025 in the Bulan Sub-Watershed of the Jeneberang Watershed. The study was conducted from March to April 2026. The method used involved analyzing 2025 Google Earth imagery using ArcGIS 10.8 software. Meanwhile, land cover/land use data for 2018 was obtained from literature using Spot 6 and 7 imagery from 2018 for the same location. After analyzing the imagery, an overall accuracy assessment was conducted to verify the land cover/land use data directly in the field. The research results indicate the area of pine plantation forests in 2018 was 723.02 ha (40.78%) and decreased to 676.78 ha (38.17%) in 2025. Meanwhile, one land cover type that experienced a significant increase was dryland agriculture, which expanded from 240.96 ha (13.59%) in 2018 to 368.95 ha (20.81%) in 2025. 2. Forest cover area decreased from 42.50% in 2018 to 39.34% of the Sub-Watershed’s total area of 1,772.87 ha by 2025. In contrast, non-forest land cover in the Bulan Sub-Watershed has increased, rising by three percentage points from 57.50% in 2018 to 60.66%.

Abstract

Perubahan iklim meningkatkan kerentanan Daerah Aliran Sungai (DAS) terhadap banjir, kekeringan, sedimentasi, degradasi lahan, dan penurunan kualitas lingkungan, sehingga diperlukan tata kelola yang adaptif, kolaboratif, dan berorientasi keberlanjutan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tata kelola adaptif Daerah Aliran Sungai (DAS) Jeneberang dalam memperkuat climate resilience dan mendukung sustainable basin management. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi lapangan, dan dokumentasi terhadap tujuh informan yang dipilih secara purposive, terdiri atas unsur Balai Besar Wilayah Sungai (BBWS) Pompengan Jeneberang, Dinas Lingkungan Hidup (DLH), Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah (BPBD), pemerintah desa atau kelurahan, masyarakat sekitar Daerah Aliran Sungai (DAS), serta akademisi atau komunitas lingkungan. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis tematik melalui tahapan reduksi data, pengkodean, pengelompokan tema, interpretasi, serta triangulasi sumber dan teknik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tata kelola Daerah Aliran Sungai (DAS) Jeneberang telah mengarah pada prinsip adaptive watershed governance melalui koordinasi kelembagaan, mitigasi risiko banjir, konservasi wilayah hulu, dan pelibatan masyarakat. Namun, efektivitas tata kelola masih menghadapi kendala berupa lemahnya integrasi antaraktor, keterbatasan pengawasan, tekanan alih fungsi lahan, sedimentasi, serta belum optimalnya partisipasi masyarakat secara berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penguatan tata kelola Daerah Aliran Sungai (DAS) memerlukan kolaborasi lintas sektor, pemanfaatan data risiko iklim, pemberdayaan masyarakat lokal, dan kebijakan berbasis ekosistem agar pengelolaan Daerah Aliran Sungai (DAS) lebih responsif terhadap perubahan iklim dan mendukung keberlanjutan wilayah sungai.

Abstract

Community-based forest management is an important approach in dealing with increasing local environmental vulnerabilities due to climate change, ecosystem degradation, and socio-economic pressures. This study aims to analyze the role of community forest stewardship in strengthening local environmental resilience by placing the community as the main actor in forest management. The research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design in North Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews with ten key informants comprising community-based forest managers, indigenous leaders, forest-dependent residents, and village officials, and supported by field observation and analysis of policy and environmental documents. The data was analyzed using thematic analysis. The results show that community-based forest management plays a role in maintaining ecosystem balance, reducing the risk of environmental damage, and increasing the adaptive capacity of communities through the application of local norms, collective management, and sustainable forest utilization. This study concludes that community forest stewardship is an effective strategy in strengthening local environmental resilience and provides important implications for the development of inclusive and sustainable social forestry policies.

Abstract

The Cisangkuy Sub-Watershed in the Upper Citarum Basin, West Java, Indonesia, has experienced increasing environmental degradation due to intensive agricultural activities, deforestation, and unsustainable land management on sloping areas. These conditions have accelerated soil erosion, sedimentation, declining soil fertility, and hydrological imbalance, threatening watershed sustainability and increasing downstream flood risks. This study aims to analyze the effect of soil erosion control practices on watershed degradation reduction in the Cisangkuy Sub-Watershed. The research employed a quantitative explanatory approach using a cross-sectional survey combined with field observations. Data were collected from 135 respondents consisting of farmers, land managers, and environmental stakeholders through structured questionnaires, erosion assessments, and land condition observations. The study examined terracing, vegetative conservation, agroforestry systems, contour farming, and check dam implementation as soil conservation practices. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression supported by descriptive environmental analysis. The findings indicate that all conservation practices significantly contribute to watershed degradation reduction. Vegetative conservation and agroforestry systems showed the strongest influence on reducing surface runoff, improving soil stability, and increasing water infiltration capacity. Furthermore, community participation and environmental awareness strengthened conservation effectiveness. The study concludes that integrated soil conservation strategies are essential to support sustainable watershed management in the Cisangkuy Sub-Watershed.

Abstract

Forest and land rehabilitation is carried out annually to restore watershed conditions. In 2019, the BPDAS Jeneberang Saddang planted pine, candlenut, and sugar palm trees in Block 1 and 2, which cover ​​50 hectares each, in Rosoan Village, Enrekang District, Enrekang Regency, South Sulawesi Province. This study aims to determine the success rate and factors influencing the growth success of Forest and Land Rehabilitation (RHL) plant planted in 2019, and to determine the factors influencing their success. This study was a survei study. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis were carried out using multiple linear regression with three independent variables: soil physical factors, soil chemistry, and socio-economic conditions. The results showed that the growth rate of pine (Pinus mercusii) was 36.36% (very low)  or 432 trees/ha, candlenut (Aleurites moluccana) was 42.7% (very low) or 470 trees/ha, and sugar palm (Arenga pinnata) was 39.2% (very low) or 400 trees/ha. Soil physical factors such as clay texture (68.13%), and the solum depth of 20–25 cm have a significant effect on plant growth (F count 14.866 > 2.810; t count 3.856 > 1.679; sig. 0.000). Additionally, soil chemical factors (F count 7.940; sig. 0.007) and community socio-economic factors (F count 18.143; sig. 0.000) also showed a significant effect. This study recommended that BPDAS actively involve the surrounding community in intensive maintenance and budget for plant maintenance cost to optimize plant growth.
