Abstract

Hazardous waste of Spent Bleaching Earth (SBE) which is processed by PT. Semen Baturaja (Persero) Tbk is used asan alternative fuel to replace coal, whose price continues to rise, because SBE still contains oil in it. However, the useof hazardous waste of SBE can affect the specific heat consumption needed in the operation of the rotary kiln machineand the ash content in it can affect the quality of the clinker produced. With the percentage of SBE alternative fuelmixture to coal fuel of 0%, 1,12%, 2,07%, 3,13%, 4,09%, 4,93%, 6,13% and 6,88%, the analysis carried out on ofspecific heat consumption, fuel cost efficiency, rotary kiln machine operation and its effect on the quality of the clinkerproduct produced. From the results of this case study, with an increase in the percentage of the SBE mixture, the ashvalue of the mixed fuel trend to increase but is not significant, while the calorific value of this fuel mixture trend todecrease. The conclusion that can be drawn from the use of hazardous waste of SBE as an alternative fuel with amixture percentage of 0% to 6.88% is that as the fuel mixture ratio increases, specific heat consumption decreases, fuel cost efficiency increases, fuel requirements become lower, compared to not using hazardous waste of SBEalternative fuel and has no significant effect on the quality of the clinker product produced.Key words: Hazardous waste, Spent Bleaching Earth (SBE), Alternative fuel, Rotary kiln, Clinker

Abstract

Fly ash, a byproduct of coal combustion, is rich in silica, alumina, and other minerals, making it a valuable resource for extracting high-purity silicon. The synthesis of silicon nanoparticles from coal fly ash involves several critical steps, including the extraction of silica (SiO2) via the sol-gel method, reduction of silica to silicon using the metallothermic method, and subsequent ultrasonication to achieve nanoscale particles. Studies have shown that fly ash can contain up to 49.21% silica, which can be further purified to 93.52% via chemical extraction methods such as acid leaching and alkali dissolution. The reduction of silica to silicon is carried out using the metallothermic method, which involves the use of magnesium-reducing agents to convert SiO2 to elemental silicon. This process produces silicon with a purity of about 61.3%, which can be further increased through ultrasonication. Ultrasonication is a technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to break particles into smaller sizes, resulting in more uniform and homogeneous nanoparticles. In this study, ultrasonication for 60 and 120 min reduced the average particle size of silicon from 208.94 nm to 58.87 nm and 20.13 nm, respectively, and increased the silicon content to 74.6% and 72.7%. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and distribution particle analyses confirmed the particle size reduction and homogeneity of silicon nanoparticles, indicating the effectiveness of ultrasonication in producing high-quality silicon nanoparticles. The synthesized silicon nanoparticles have significant potential applications, particularly as anode materials in lithium-ion batteries, due to their increased surface area and improved electrochemical properties. Furthermore, the use of fly ash as a raw material for the synthesis of silicon nanoparticles not only provides a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional silica sources but also helps in reducing the environmental impact of fly ash disposal. The integration of the methods and findings of this study underscores the feasibility and benefits of using coal fly ash for the sustainable production of silicon nanoparticles, which can be utilized in energy storage as anode materials in lithium-ion batteries.

Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze the effect of Social Responsibility Collectivism, External Incentives on Intention Sustainable Consumption Intention, the impact of Intention Sustainable Consumption on Sustainable Consumption Behaviour, and the effect of Sustainable Consumption Behaviour on Sustainable Intention both directly and moderated by Health Awareness. The research design used is quantitative research with causality hypothesis testing. The sample used is respondents who carry out sustainable consumption activities. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, and the sample used was 385. The data analysis used is SEM using AMOS software. The research findings show that social responsibility and external incentives have been proven to positively affect the intention of sustainable consumption. While Collectivism is not proven to have a positive effect on Intention Sustainable Consumption, Intention Sustainable Consumption is proven to have a positive effect on Sustainable Consumption Behavior, and Sustainable Consumption Behavior has a positive effect on Continuous Intention, but Health Consciousness is not proven to moderate the positive impact of Sustainable Consumption Behavior on Continuous Intention. The results of this study provide information that sustainable consumption activities must pay attention to the behavior of consumers related to social responsibility, external incentives, sustainable consumption intentions, and sustainable consumption behavior.
