Abstract

This study aims to make a synthesis related to efforts to develop an alternative modeling of the process of strengthening (empowering) the economy of poor coastal communities through the optimization of the group's role as the basis for economic development towards greater prosperity. Two programs of empowerment that are assessed Coastal Community Economic Empowerment Program and Program of Revenue Improvement for Small Farmers and Fishermen. To analyze the data has been collected, used four methods: Multiple Linear Regression Method, Path analysis, Structural Equation Model, and Descriptive Method (What-If Analysis). The results showed that alternative models that have been synthesized assume important roles in the group as a strategic base on the effectiveness of the program, besides the influence of internal and external factors, which are both strongly associated with quality resources and local knowledge of each area/coastal areas where the coastal areas tend to one another there is a difference.

Abstract

The crucial problem faced by the fishermen community, especially traditional fishermen in rural areas is the problem of poverty depth and severity. The purpose of this study is to identify the index of poverty depth and severity in the fishermen community and to reveal the causes of its occurrence through empirical and theoretical studies with economic and social approaches. This study is survey research by taking the case of fishermen community in the rural coastal of Bengkulu. The selected village as the sample area is Pasar Palik Village, Air Napal Sub-District, Bengkulu Utara District. Data analysis was carried out using the quantitative method and the qualitative-descriptive method. The results show that the poverty depth and severity indexes of the fishermen community are considered quite high (poverty that occurred in the fishermen community is quite deep and quite severe). Other results show that the high depth and severity of poverty in the fishermen community (traditional fishermen) stems from the low ability of fishermen as proxied by low effort (capture fisheries facilities and infrastructure), primordial capital system (patron-client), and the marketing system (marketing channels) is not conducive/not open.

Open unemployment in Bengkulu Province is allegedly likely to increase due to the economic recession and the Covid 19 pandemic, which is caused by fluctuations in GRDP, population and provincial minimum wages. This research aims to determine and analyze the influence of Gross Domestic Regional Product (GRDP), Population, and Provincial Minimum Wage on the Number of Open Unemployed in Bengkulu Province. The data used is secondary data sourced from BPS (Central Statistics Agency). The form of data used is panel data by taking the case of 1 city (Bengkulu City) and 3 parent districts (South Bengkulu, Rejang Lebong, North Bengkulu) in 2011-2020. The analysis method used is panel data regression with the Common Effect Model (CEM) approach. The research results show that simultaneously, the variables GRDP, Population and Provincial Minimum Wage influence Open Unemployment in Bengkulu province. Partially, the GRDP and Population variables have a significant and positive effect on Open Unemployment, while the Provincial Minimum Wage variable does not have a significant effect on Open Unemployment in Bengkulu province.

Abstract

The aim of community service activities in Sri Kuncoro Village is to socialize the benefits of coconut trees to the local community. Apart from that, to develop a sense of love for the environment through the use of local coconut trees around people's homes and to introduce ways to process coconuts in a more innovative way that has high added value, namely into VCO oil (Virgin Coconut Oil). The process of making coconuts into "Pure VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil)" is a very strategic "step" in accelerating the achievement of advanced, balanced and sustainable regional development (in Sri Kuncoro Village).
