Abstract

Globally, the prevalence of anemia in pregnant women in developed countries is 49% and in developing countries it is 53%. In Indonesia, the rate of anemia in pregnant women is quite high, namely 48.9%. Anemia in pregnant women can increase the risk of premature birth and bleeding. One effort that can help prevent and treat anemia in pregnant women is to consume foods that are sources of iron, for example dates. The aim of the research was to determine the effect of consuming dates on hemoglobin levels in pregnant women with anemia. The research design used a quasi-experimental one group with control group. The experimental group was the group that consumed dates and Fe tablets, while the control group only consumed Fe tablets. The population is all third trimester pregnant women at PMB Lina in May 2024, totaling 24 respondents where each group consists of 12 respondents. The sampling technique used is total sampling. Based on the results of the normality test, sig. >0.05, then the statistical test used is the Paired Sample T Test. The average hemoglobin level in the experimental group before being given dates and Fe tablets was 10.2 gr/dl and the average hemoglobin level after being given date palm juice was 11.4 gr/dl. The results of the Wilcoxon test obtained a p value of 0.001, meaning that there was an effect of giving dates on hemoglobin levels in pregnant women. It is hoped that health workers can increase public knowledge, especially pregnant women, about food sources high in iron so that they can prevent and reduce the incidence of pregnancy anemia. Abstract

The postpartum period is a phase from 2 hours after delivery to 6 weeks where the uterus shrinks (involutions) back to its pre-pregnancy size. The uterine involution process can be assisted with uterine massage. The results of Elisa's (2018) research on uterine fundus massage with health education using videos of uterine fundus massage on reducing uterine fundus height showed that there was an influence where the p value was 0.000 (<0.05). Massage the spine or what is known as oxytocin massage can stimulate the hormone oxytocin which functions for uterine contractions so that the uterus shrinks. Apart from stimulating contractions, the hormone oxytocin also plays a role in producing breast milk so that it can help the breastfeeding process. The aim of this activity is to provide information as well as teach postpartum mothers to perform uterine massage at home. This activity is carried out using demonstration methods via video and direct simulation by postpartum mothers. The results of the service were found from 15 counseling participants, 13 of whom could perform uterine massage well, 2 people did not understand. Community service activities that have educational value are very beneficial for postpartum mothers. For this reason, it needs to be improved and maximized by all parties involved.

Abstract

Menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) is a complaint experienced by 90% of women in the world, 10-15% of whom suffer from severe dysmenorrhea. One of the triggers for dysmenorrhea in adolescents is poor diet such as consuming junk food, smoking, and rarely exercising. These habits can worsen dysmenorrhea. This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge of adolescent girls about healthy eating patterns as a natural method to reduce dysmenorrhea. The target of the activity is adolescent girls in grade X of SMA Takwa Palembang. The activity was carried out by providing education to participants about what dysmenorrhea is, its causes, and how a healthy diet can help prevent or reduce menstrual pain. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' knowledge about healthy eating patterns in dealing with menstrual pain as measured using a questionnaire. It is recommended that this program be followed by socialization to families and the provision of healthy food choices in school canteens to support the sustainability of the program's results.

Abstract

Postpartum hemorrhage is a frequent cause of death in mothers with 1,280 cases. One of the causes of postpartum bleeding is a uterus that does not contract or is called uterine atony. Uterine atony keeps the blood vessels open so that blood continues to flow. Efforts to make the uterus contract are by uterine massage. Uterine massage helps make the blood vessels close and stimulates contractions so that the height of the fundus decreases, indicating that the uterus is slowly shrinking. Research objective: to determine the effect of uterine massage on reducing the height of the uterine fundus as an effort to prevent post-partum bleeding. Method: This research uses a quasi-experimental design, namely post test control group design. The sample in this study was part of normal postpartum mothers at BPM. The sample was divided into a treatment group and a control group. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the unpaired sample t test. The results of the independent t test obtained a p value of 0.071 (p > 0.05). This means that there is no effect of uterine massage on reducing the height of the uterine fundus.

Abstract

Background: Anxiety before childbirth is a psychological disorder often experienced by pregnant women, especially in the third trimester of pregnancy. Fear of pain, worry about the condition of the fetus, and uncertainty about the delivery process are the main triggering factors. If not handled properly, this anxiety can have serious consequences, such as increased stress hormones (cortisol), sleep disorders, high blood pressure, and even labor complications. Therefore, interventions are needed that not only focus on physical aspects, but also support mental and emotional balance. Objective: The purpose of this activity is to provide education and practical training to pregnant women on anxiety management before childbirth through the application of complementary therapies, and to evaluate the effectiveness of this approach in increasing the readiness and calmness of participants. Method: The activity was carried out at PMB Lismarini, Tulungagung, involving 20 pregnant women in their third trimester. Education was carried out interactively using visual media and group discussions. Next, participants participated in the practice of three types of complementary therapies: (1) deep breathing relaxation with diaphragmatic breathing techniques, (2) aromatherapy using lavender as a relaxation agent, and (3) classical music with a slow rhythm played during the session. Results: This activity showed positive results. Eighty-five percent of participants experienced an increase in knowledge scores after the educational session, and 60% showed a significant decrease in anxiety levels based on questionnaire results. Most participants also reported feeling calmer, more prepared, and more confident in facing childbirth. The satisfaction rate with the activity reached 90%, indicating that the methods implemented were well-received by participants. Conclusion: Complementary therapy combined with education is effective in helping pregnant women manage anxiety before childbirth. This activity emphasizes the importance of a holistic approach to antenatal care.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is one of the most common reproductive health problems among women of reproductive age and can interfere with daily activities and productivity, while limited knowledge regarding proper management often leads to ineffective handling of menstrual pain. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge of women of reproductive age regarding dysmenorrhea management through health education at PMB Lina Contesa. The activity employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach involving women of reproductive age visiting PMB Lina Contesa. Health education was delivered through counseling and interactive discussions using leaflet media. Knowledge levels were measured before and after the intervention using a structured questionnaire and analyzed descriptively and comparatively. The results showed an increase in participants’ knowledge after the educational intervention, with most respondents shifting from low to moderate knowledge levels before education to good knowledge levels after education. These findings indicate that health education on dysmenorrhea management is effective in improving women’s understanding, highlighting the importance of continuous educational programs in midwifery care settings as a promotive and preventive strategy for women’s reproductive health
