Abstract

HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skill) is necessary for living in the 21st century. In this century, routine work will be charged to robots, while humans will be charged with creative work. In order to avoid being eroded by the times, HOTS needs to be developed even since elementary school. Therefore, there is a need for methods, strategies, or learning models that can improve student HOTS. Researchers conducted a study to test the effectiveness of implementing the RADEC learning model in improving students' HOTS in learning Insya’; the material translates the text, and how students respond to the learning model. The research method used is quasi-experimental, with the research design of a nonequivalent Control Group. The results showed that it took 135 minutes to implement the RADEC learning model in learning Insya’ material translating text in PP Darussalam. The improvement in higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) after receiving treatment is reported to be 49%, which is classified as a sufficient category. Nevertheless, the RADEC learning model is still considered more effective in enhancing HOTS than the classical model, and the participants' response to this model is highly positive, reaching 81%. Further research on the RADEC learning model, using an equivalent comparative model, is needed to strengthen its effectiveness in enhancing HOTS. Keywords: HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skill), Translating Text, RADEC Learning Model, Insya’ Learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and identify transformational leadership strategies based on Islamic values that effectively drive positive change and achieve excellence in Islamic educational institutions. By integrating Islamic values into the dimensions of transformational leadership, the findings reveal that these strategies enhance educational quality, shape students’ noble character, and strengthen institutional competitiveness. The findings also highlight the importance of continuous training, community collaboration, and the development of an inspiring vision as key steps in implementing these strategies. However, the study's limitations include a narrow data scope and insufficient exploration of the role of technology in supporting institutional transformation. This research provides significant contributions both theoretically and practically, offering concrete guidelines for leaders of Islamic educational institutions to create sustainable transformation. In conclusion, transformational leadership based on Islamic values is a relevant strategic approach to addressing global challenges and achieving the vision of excellence in Islamic education.

Abstract

This article examines the foundational role of traditional methods in Arabic language instruction by exploring classical pedagogies rooted in Islamic educational heritage. Amid the rising dominance of modern and communicative approaches, a critical reassessment of historical methods—such as imlāʾ, talqīn, qirāʾah jahrīyah, ḥifẓ, and tarjamah—is necessary to understand their pedagogical strengths, limitations, and philosophical underpinnings. This study employs a reflective literature-based method that draws upon classical Islamic texts, modern comparative analyses, and recent academic contributions to reconstruct the theoretical framework of traditional instruction. Findings reveal that while classical methods emphasized memorization, authority, and textual mastery, they also embodied a coherent epistemology centered on ethical formation (adab), teacher–student transmission (taqlīd), and spiritual-intellectual integration. These methods were not only instructional techniques but were embedded within broader ontological and axiological assumptions about knowledge, language, and human development. The study argues that rather than being entirely outdated, elements of traditional pedagogy remain relevant and can be selectively integrated into modern educational models to balance structure with creativity, discipline with dialogue. By critically reviewing classical pedagogies, this article contributes to the discourse on Arabic language curriculum reform, especially in Islamic institutions seeking to preserve identity while engaging contemporary educational challenges

Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of cognitive theory in Arabic language learning and analyze its implications for the design, implementation, and evaluation of instruction, including its strengths and weaknesses. The method used is a literature review, examining various relevant and credible written sources. This approach is employed to gain a deeper understanding of the application of cognitive theory in the context of Arabic language learning. The analysis technique includes the processes of searching, selecting, critically evaluating, and thoroughly analyzing literature. The reliability and validity of the research are ensured through systematic and structured steps. The findings of the study show: (1) Cognitive theory supports Arabic language learning through strengthening mental processes, meaningful understanding, active participation, the use of metacognitive strategies, and the role of the teacher as a facilitator. (2) Cognitive-based learning aims to optimize students' cognitive processes through deep understanding, active participation, and the application of metacognitive strategies. Instructional design needs to be structured by considering information, context, and active language interaction. (3) The teacher and student roles are crucial in fostering collaborative interaction and using metacognitive strategies to support student understanding. (4) This theory influences the evaluation of learning through formative, authentic, understanding-based assessments and constructive feedback. (5) Its strengths encourage deep understanding and active participation, while its weaknesses overlook social and cultural aspects. Thus, this study integrates cognitive theory into Arabic language learning through meaningful understanding, active participation, metacognitive strategies, collaborative interaction, and context-based evaluation.
