Abstract

In the manufacturing industry, specifically in automotive sector, musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) account for 11.4% of all workplace injuries. This is primarily due to the high demand for increased production capacity. The process of assembling automotive parts involves manually organizing materials before they are sent to the assembly line. The handling of large material loads and repetitive movements during this kitting process can significantly increase the risk of MSDs. A study was conducted to examine the ergonomic risks associated with the kitting process in a manufacturing environment. The study utilized the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method to evaluate kitting operators for potential musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) related to lifting, carrying, and placing materials during the kitting process. Additionally, kitting operators completed the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire for self-assessment. According to the REBA results, lifting activities (11 points) posed the highest risk, followed by placing materials (7 points) and carrying materials (4 points). The NBM responses indicated complaints of pain in the hands, shoulders, and back, with NBM scores of 36 and 48 points, signifying a low risk. Immediate action is necessary to reduce MSD complaints among packaging operators based on hazard control analysis. Recommendations have been made for ergonomic interventions, including improving work postures, regulating loads through ergonomic training, utilizing assistive devices, and making workspace adjustments to minimize the risk of MSDs. By implementing appropriate interventions and preventive measures, the risk of MSDs among kitting operators can be reduced, while improving work safety, comfort, and maintaining productivity and process efficiency

Abstract

Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) menjadi salah satu penyebab Penyakit  Akibat Kerja (PAK) sebesar 16% dengan industri otomotif menjadi sektor penyumbang MSDs s terbesar ketiga. Dengan berkembangnya industri otomotif di Indonesia sebesar 10,3% , menyebabkan peningkatan kapasitas produksi sehingga waktu produksi unit akan menjadi lebih cepat. Siklus tersebut dapat mempengaruhi peningkatan Work-Related MSDs pada pekerja otomotif terkait masalah aktivitas material handling utamanya perakitan yang menjadi kunci pada proses otomotif. Penelitian mengenai MSDs di sektor industri manufaktur otomotif penting untuk dilakukan, mengingat banyaknya faktor risiko terjadinya MSDs pada operator di sektor tersebut. Objek penelitian yang dianalisis adalah departemen perakitan interior pada lini produksi. Analisa postur kerja terhadap risiko MSDs dilakukan menggunakan metode Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) dan penilaian Nordic Body Map (NBM) untuk mengetahui gejala-gejala MSDs yang dirasakan operator. Skor REBA sebesar 11 menunjukkan risiko tinggi terjadinya cedera muskuloskeletal yang membutuhkan tindakan segera, sedangkan hasil Nordic Body Map menunjukkan adanya keluhan pada bagian punggung akibat posisi membungkuk dan tangan kanan akibat proses pengangkatan. Sehingga rekomendasi yang diberikan ialah rancangan alat bantu ergonomis berupa exoskeleton kursi tanpa kursi pada operator proses perakitan interior untuk mengurangi tekanan pada punggung. Rancangan yang diusulkan perlu dibuat prototipe dan diteliti lebih lanjut nilai efektivitas penurunan risiko MSDs, serta dari segi ketahanan dan kekuatan materialnya.

Abstract

Polyoxymethylene (POM) is a type of thermoplastic that is frequently used in various industrial applications due to its good dimensional stability, corrosion resistance, and superior tensile strength. However, in certain applications such as locker tables, the weakness of this material is revealed in structural failures. This research uses the finite element simulation method to analyse the failure of a locker table exposed to a helical torsion spring. The main focus was on the fracture of the part connected to the helical torsion spring, a common problem in plastic material applications subjected to cyclic loading. Results showed that the fracture occurred at a stress level of 121.061 MPa, exceeding the yield strength value that should have been broken at 150 MPa. In addition, the analysis showed that the highest Von Misses stress occurred where the spring was located, exceeding the specified yield strength. Tensile tests showed the effect of ambient temperature on the tensile strength of the POM+25%GF material. The proposed solution through the development of an additional structure in the form of ribs on the product successfully increased the strength of the locker table under load. This research provides important insights in improving product design to minimise the risk of structural failure in POM+25%GF material.

Abstract

Farmers’ skills in maintaining water pumps remain limited, although these skills are essential for sustaining agricultural production. This study is presented as a pilot study aimed at assessing the effectiveness of participatory training in improving the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of water pump mechanics. The study involved nine mechanics under the guidance of UPTD ALSINTAN Dinas Pertanian Kabupaten Bandung, each representing one of nine affiliated areas. Evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test instruments with 20 items on a five-point Likert scale, analyzed descriptively without inferential statistics. The initial findings indicated an increase in the overall mean score from 3.55 to 4.78, with the largest improvements observed in skills (+46.27%) and knowledge (+39,83%). These results suggest improvements in competence, although they remain exploratory. The main limitations of this study are the small sample size and reliance on self-reported measures. Further studies with larger samples and stronger designs are recommended.

Abstract

Pengeringan merupakan metode pengawetan yang digunakan untuk mengurangi kadar air pada makanan, memperpanjang masa simpan, dan menjaga kualitas produk. Penelitian ini membandingkan performa kontrol relay dan PID pada oven pengering berbasis load cell untuk mengukur kadar air buah secara otomatis sesuai Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI). Pendekatan ini bertujuan meningkatkan efisiensi waktu dan akurasi proses pengeringan tanpa perlu penimbangan sampel secara manual. Metode penelitian melibatkan penggunaan oven pengering dengan load cell untuk membaca perubahan massa buah selama pengeringan. Arduino sebagai pengendali utama, thermocouple untuk memantau temperatur, dan mosul HX711 melalukan proses data massa. Dua skema kontrol temperatur uji relay dan PID dengan mode PI, dengan temperatur ditetapkan 105˚C. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kontrol relay tidak mampu menjaga kestabilan temperatur akibat sifat on/off-nya yang tidak presisi. Sebaliknya, kontrol PID mode PI memberikan kestabilan temperatur dengan toleransi ±1˚C dengan rise time 2,43 menit, settling time 29,025 menit. Sistem diuji menggunakan buah mangga hingga massa stabil dengan laju penguapan rata-rata 1g/menit dan kadar air akhir mencapai 80,95%. Kontribusi penelitian ini terletak pada pengembangan sistem alat ukur kadar air berbasis evaporasi yang terintegrasi dengan load cell dan kontrol suhu otomatis, memungkinkan pengukuran kadar air secara real-time dan non-destruktif. Sistem ini berpotensi diterapkan dalam laboratorium maupun sektor industri yang membutuhkan pengukuran kadar air bahan secara efisien, presisi, dan berkelanjutan.
