Abstract

Astigmatisma is refraction disorder where deviation in the meridient is different because of curve disorder in cornea. In astigmatisma, half diameter of curve in one miridian cornea is longer than upright vertical of half diameter miridian. Ambient lighting can be hapened in astigmatisma is the bright inferior has been over lighting either direk vision or reflaktion. This research aims to know ambient lighting on astigmatisma compared by miopia suffere. The design in this reasearch is cross sectional by descriptive method to compare the ambient lighting in astigmatisma patient by myopia patient. The respondent is 68 students and 34 respondent are myopia patient, 34 respondent are astigmatisma patient. The result shows female respondents is 38 students (55,9%) and male respondent is 30 students (44,1%). The astigmatisma respondent are 34 students (50,0%) and myopia respondent are 34 students (50,0%), ambient lighting respondents are 40 students (58,8%) and the respondents who don’t have ambient lighting are 28 students (41,2%). Astigmatisma respondent who have ambient lighting are 28 students (82,4 %) and astigmatisma respondents who don’t have ambient lighting are 12 students (35,3%) and the respondents by myopia characteristic who don’t have ambient lighting are 22 students (64,7%). Astigmatisma prevalents by ambient lighting is 82,4 % and myopia by ambient lighting is 35,3%. It can be concluded that there is ambient lighting in astigmatisma more than myopia.

Abstract

Background: Currently, cataract surgery is categorized into two main techniques: phacoemulsification and femtosecond-laser-assisted-cataract-surgery (FLACS)..Objective: The objective of this study was to present a comprehensive review of the existing literature on the single-handed coaxial phacoemulsification technique used in cataract surgery. Methods: The study conducted a systematic review of PubMed, EMBASE, and Scopus databases. The participants included in our study were individuals diagnosed with simple cataract. These individuals had treatment using either single-handed or two-handed phacoemulsification or FLACS techniques. Publications predating the year 2000 were omitted from consideration. The abstracts of the publications were analyzed utilizing the PRISMA diagram, and those deemed to be somewhat and highly pertinent were incorporated. In total, a comprehensive analysis was conducted on six research, consisting of two randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and four non-randomized controlled trials (nonRCTs).Results: The visual acuity (VA) shown a statistically significant improvement in the single-handed group compared to the two-handed group at the one-week postoperative assessment (p<0.05). However, this difference was not observed at the one-month and three-month postoperative assessments.  The single-handed group had a smaller angle of error (AE) compared to the two-handed group (p=0.005). Additionally, another study observed an improvement in visual acuity (VA) in individuals who underwent single-handed, two-handed group, and femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS). However, the study did not identify any statistically significant variations in VA improvement across the three groups. There was no statistically significant difference observed among the three groups in relation to ECL and CCT. The intraoperative phacoparameter exhibited a statistically significant decrease in the single-handed group (P<0.01) compared to the two-handed group, while it did not differ substantially from the femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS) group. Conclusion: When comparing the two-handed phacoemulsification technique to FLACS, it was observed that a single-handed method exhibited a reduced angle of error, minimized corneal damage, and exhibited early visual outcomes.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder that can be established if the GDP level is ≥ 126 mg/dl or the GDS or TTGO level is ≥ 200 mg/dl. Currently phacoemulsification technique has been widely used to treat cataracts because of its faster increase of visual acuity, lower changes in astigmatism, and low complication rates during surgery and post-operatively. The study aimed to determine the influence of duration and control of DM with the results of phacoemulsification surgery on senile cataract sufferers with DM in Yogyakarta. The study, which used an analytical observational method with a cross-sectional design, was conducted at the Eye Polyclinic of a Private Hospital in Yogyakarta by taking a sample of 77 patients. Consecutive sampling was carried out to collect the sample. Logistic regression method was applied for the study test. We used a logistic regression test and obtained significance values of 0.643 and 0.432 (P>0.05) which suggested no influence of duration and control of DM and the results of phacoemulsification surgery. It was stated that there was no influence between the duration and control of DM on the results of phacoemulsification surgery.
