Abstract

Non-Chinese ancestry students studying Mandarin at Sebelas Maret University, Indonesia have increased every year. This paper discusses three aspects, learning motivation, learning attitude, and learning difficulties of non-Chinese ancestry students in the Mandarin Language Department at Universitas Sebelas Maret. Non-Chinese ancestry students have several characteristics in learning, have learning goals, and have a positive learning attitude. In general, the difficulties faced by non-Chinese ancestry students in learning Chinese are because they rarely communicate in Chinese, which caused mistakes in listening and pronunciation, even though there is a lot of pressure in learning, they still maintain a strong motivation to learn Chinese.

Abstract

Abstrak  Dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Mandarin pelafalan sangat penting untuk dipelajari karena jika salah melafalkannya akan berperangruh pada arti dan makna kata yang terucap. Prodi D-3 Bahasa Mandarin Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Sebelas Maret melihat sangat pentingnya pelafalan Bahasa Mandarin, maka pada awal semester 1 dimasukan mata kuliah pelafalan Bahasa Mandarin dalam kurikulum prodi. Namun mahasiswa setelah mengikuti mata kuliah pelafalan selama 1 semester, di semester 2 pada mata kuliah bahasa Mandarin menyimak dan berbicara masih ditemukan kesalahan pelafalan konsonan khususnya konsonan z,c,zh,ch dan kesalahan dalam mengindentifikasi bunyi konsonan tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif yang akan mendeskripsikan penyebab kesalahan dalam melafalkan dan dalam pengidentifikasian bunyi konsonan bahasa Mandarin z,c,zh dan ch. Kuesioner soal dibagikan pada 18 mahasiswa semester 2 angkatan 2021 Prodi D-3 Bahasa Mandarin Sekolah Vokasi UNS. Dalam hasil penelitian ditemukan pengaruh utama kesalahan mahasiswa dalam melafalkan dan mengidentifikasi bunyi konsonan /z/, /c/, /zh/, /ch/ adalah faktor bahasa ibu dimana ada perbedaan melafalkan konsonan yang sama, begitu juga pada pengidentifikasian bunyi.  Kata Kunci : Fonologis;Konsonan;Bahasa Mandarin  Abstract In learning Mandarin, pronunciation is very important to learn because if you pronounce it wrong, it will affect the meaning and meaning of the spoken word. The D3 Mandarin Language Vocational School Study Program UNS sees the importance of pronouncing Mandarin, so at the beginning of semester 1, Chinese pronunciation courses are included in the study program curriculum. However, students after taking pronunciation courses for 1 semester, in semester 2, they still found consonant pronunciation errors, especially consonants z, c, zh, ch and errors in identifying the consonant sound. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method that will describe the causes of errors in pronouncing consonants and identifying consonant sounds z, c, zh and ch. The results of the study found 20 students who were still wrong in pronouncing and identifying the consonant sounds z, c, zh, ch, the main influence was the mother tongue factor where there were differences in pronouncing the same consonant, as well as in identifying sounds). Keywords: Phonology;Consonants;Chinese
