Abstract

Mechanical properties of ramie fiber reinforced epoxy lamina composite for socket prosthesis. This paper presents an investigation into the application of natural fiber composite especially ramie fiber reinforced epoxy lamina composite for socket prosthesis. The research focuses on the tensile and shear strength from ramie fiber reinforced epoxy lamina composite which will be applied as alternative material for socket prosthesis. The research based on American Society for Testing Material (ASTM) standard D 3039/D 3039M for tensile strength and ASTM D 4255/D 4255M-83 for shear strength. The ramie fiber applied is a fiber continue 100 % Ne14'S with Epoxy Resin Bakelite EPR 174 as matrix and Epoxy Hardener V-140 as hardener. The sample composite test made by hand lay up method. Multiaxial characteristic from ramie fiber reinforced epoxy composite will be compared with ISO standard for plastic/polymer for health application and refers strength of material application at Prosthetics and Orthotics. The analysis was completed with the mode of the failure and the failure criterion observation by using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Based on results of the research could be concluded that ramie fiber reinforced epoxy composite could be developed further as the alternative material for socket prosthesis on Vf 40-50%. Results of the research will be discussed in more detail in this paper.

Abstract

Introduction: Coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) primarily affects the respiratory system and other organ systems which limit respiratory and physical status. The aim of this study is to evaluate functional capacity COVID-19 survivor among workers in Koja Public Health Center Methods: participant were enrolled on March-April 2022. Demographics, symptoms, functional scale post COVID-19 questionnaire, risk stratification, and 6-min walk test (6mwt) were analysed. Patients unable to walk were excluded from the study. Results: 79 participants, 38% was a health care worker, had a median age 33 (21-57) years and 43 women (54.4%). Men had higher 6mwt 518.2 (120-625.8) meter while women had 457 (340-600) meter p (<0.001), VO2max 17.47 (9.74-20.67) in men and 16.45 (14.07-19.19) in women p (<0.001), and METs 5.02 (2.78-5.90) in men and 4.69 (4.02-5.48) in women p (<0.001). Most of the participant had good fitness, 10 participant (12.7%) had functional limitation; 2 participants (2.5%) still had symptom. Conclusion: Despite being COVID-19 survivors, the workers at the Koja Public Health Center have good functional capacity.

Abstract

TongueFit designed to address the challenges of managing oral dysphagia in children. Integrating technology into rehabilitation has shown promise in enhancing therapeutic outcomes. Usability testing involving end-users is essential to ensure effectiveness and satisfaction. This research aims to evaluate usability issues of the prototype orofacial manometer, Tonguefit using user experience method. The assessment used a questionnaire modified from Baharum et al that was translated into Bahasa. To ensure face validity, the questionnaire was given to 3 users, who were required to evaluate the items with respect to ambiguity and understandability. Fleiss Kappa Index was used to determine the face validity. For user experience, 20 users who met the inclusion criteria were required. They were asked to assess the usability issue using the questionnaire. Data was transposed  and analyzed using User Experience Questionnaire methodology. All reviewers of the instrument have had equal agreement and the questionnaire is clear and suitable to collect data (FKI 0.792). Based  on  the  results  of  the user  experience, the  2  variables  obtained positive  evaluation  values,  namely  the  Perceived Usefulness (mean  1.35) and  Continuance Intention (mean 0.83). The highest evaluation value was on the Perceived Usefulness variable, while the lowest value was on the Interface Quality (mean 0.09). However, there is still potential for improvement to meet the desired standards of excellence. User feedback and suggestions have been instrumental in identifying areas for improvement. Tonguefit demonstrates strong perceived usefulness and continuance intention, while other areas require development to improve overall user satisfaction.

Abstract

Background: Stroke is the chief cause of long-term disability in the world. Predominantly, the disease is known as a degenerative disease on geriatrics age group, yet several studies have proven that incidence on productive ages are also increasing. Objective: The study aimed to know whether there are any difference in Modified Shah Barthel Index (MSBI) score in different age group, geriatric and productive age group and to know independence score in daily activities based on age. Method: The study utilized the cross-sectional design and analytical observational method. Twenty five samples of chronic stroke patients was recruited and grouped into two groups productive and geriatric age group. MSBI score was calculated and compared between two groups. Result: Bivariate analysis proves that there is a significant association between MSBI score and age of stroke patients on chronic phase (p=0.017). Discussion: There is a significant association between age and MSBI score on stroke patients in chronic phase. Conclusion: There was a significance difference between productive and geriatric age with daily activities using MSBI in chronic stroke patients. The productive age group has a higher Modified Shah Barthel Index score than the geriatric age group.

Abstract

BACKGROUND Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is uncontrollable urine leakage when intra-abdominal pressure increases. Behavioral therapy with Kegel exercise is currently the best conservative management recommendation for treating SUI patients. This study aimed to investigate the success of supervised Kegel exercises using the Kegel exercises guidebook in women with SUI. METHODS This quasi-experimental study involved both groups being taught the same regiment of Kegel exercises, but the intervention group was given the Kegel exercises guidebook. After 12 weeks, the compliance, subjective, and objective success rates were evaluated through the patient’s notes, Urinary Distress Inventory-6, Incontinence Impact Questionnaire-7, perineometer, and pad test. RESULTS Patients with a higher level of education had lower compliance to Kegel exercises (p = 0.01; odds ratio [OR] 0.38; 0.18–0.79). No significant difference was observed in the subjective symptom improvement between the two groups. The intervention group had a significantly higher success rate based on objective success by analyzing the 1-hour pad test results. The intervention group was also more adherent (p<0.001; OR 4.78; 2.51–9.0). CONCLUSIONS Patients who received the Kegel exercises guidebook were more compliant and more objectively successful than those who did not receive the manuals.

Abstract

The need for rehabilitation services in nursing homes (NH) for the elderly is increasing each year, and this need is fulfilled both with ordinary clinical rehabilitation center visits, as well as community-based rehabilitation (CBR) inside the facility. However, a proper situation analysis is needed to establish a well-delivered CBR program in the NH, a niche to be fulfilled in this study. This study used a descriptive measurement and cross-sectional design to target the elderly who are living in the NHs. Consecutive sampling was done in the largest NH in Jakarta, in Cipayung District. Participants who were dependently ambulated were assessed in the NH clinic, whereas the independent ones were assessed in their room. Nutritional status and blood pressure measurement was done in the first visit, whereas psychiatric and activity of daily living (ADL) were done in the second visit. In the first visit, 32 (20%) participants were undernourished, whereas 25 (83%) participants have a psychiatric disorder in the second visit. More than half of the participants were also dependent on their ADL (n: 17; 57%). Malnourishment, mental illness, and higher dependency were found in subjects, which affect the conducted CBR programs. An inter-professional team (including a nutritionist, public health expertise, physiatrist, and psychiatrist) may be needed to conduct a well-established CBR program, as well as further study to find magnitudes of each aspect.
