Abstract

The low level of students’ critical thinking and collaboration skills, along with the limited use of interactive learning media in physics learning, has become one of the major challenges in 21st-century education. This study aimed to develop the KARIKA educational game media based on the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach on global warming material and to determine its validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving students’ critical thinking and collaboration skills in grade X of SMA N 1 Kertek. This research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, consisting of analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate stages. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, tests, and documentation. The research subjects included expert validators, physics teachers, and grade X students of SMA N 1 Kertek. The results showed that the KARIKA educational game media achieved an average validity score of 91.8% categorized as “very valid”. The practicality result obtained an average score of 86.82% categorized as “very practical” based on teachers’ and students’ responses. The effectiveness of the media was indicated by the paired sample t-test results showing a significant difference before and after the implementation of the media, as well as the N-Gain results of critical thinking skills at 68.74% and collaboration skills at 59.76%, both categorized as moderate or “quite effective”. These findings indicate that the CTL-based KARIKA educational game media is feasible to be used as an innovative, interactive, and contextual physics learning medium to support the improvement of students’ critical thinking and collaboration skills.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are essential in 21st-century physics education. However, learning processes that are still teacher-centered have hindered the optimal development of students’ critical thinking skills. The Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Educaplay media can serve as an alternative learning approach that enhances student engagement through interactive activities and problem-solving. This study aimed to determine the effect of the PBL model assisted by Educaplay on students’ critical thinking skills in the topic of thermal expansion. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Pretest-Posttest  control group design. The research sample consisted of two eleventh-grade classes at MAN 2 Wonosobo selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data analysis was conducted using normality tests, homogeneity tests, independent sample t-tests, and N-Gain analysis. The results showed that the implementation of the PBL model assisted by Educaplay had a positive effect on students’ critical thinking skills. The average N-Gain score of the experimental class was higher than that of the control class. This study contributes to the development of technology-based physics learning to improve students’ higher-order thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the utilization of Griha Litera educational tourism in fostering students’ environmental literacy interest at SDN Banjar Kertek. Environmental literacy is an important competency for elementary school students as it relates to their understanding, attitudes, and behaviors in caring for the environment. However, in reality, environmental literacy among elementary students is still relatively low, as indicated by low awareness of environmental cleanliness, weak reading habits related to environmental issues, and limited student participation in environmental preservation activities. This research employed a descriptive quantitative method with the population consisting of fourth-grade students at SDN Banjar Kertek. The sampling technique used was saturated sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, documentation, and structured interviews. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics including mean, median, mode, standard deviation, and qualitative analysis. The results showed that the utilization of Griha Litera educational tourism was categorized as good and contributed positively to students’ environmental literacy interest. Students demonstrated interest in environmental-themed reading materials, active involvement in field activities, and caring attitudes toward the surrounding environment. It is recommended that schools integrate educational tourism and experiential learning activities continuously as a strategy to improve students’ environmental literacy from an early age.

Abstract

The urgency of research on creative thinking skills as a 21st century skill requirement for low-category high school students. The aim of the research is to determine the profile of creative thinking skills using an ethnoscience approach. The quasi-experimental method used 3 high schools with different cultural backgrounds (SMA A: City category, SMA B: Middle category, SMA C: Village category). Data collection of the Torrance Creative Thinking Test (TTCT) of 10 essay questions. Descriptive analysis techniques to determine the process of science reconstruction and the profile of creative thinking skills. The results showed that there were differences in the reconstruction and profile of students in the middle category of SMA B, the highest compared to SMA A (City) and SMA C (Village). Differences in cultural background greatly affect efforts to understand science through meaningful learning resources of ethnoscience. This approach has the opportunity and perspective of students in understanding scientific issues that are developing in society.

Abstract

Dieng Culture Festival (DCF) is considered as the symbol of cultural wealth owned by the local people of Wonosobo, Central Java Province, Indonesia. The reconstruction of indigenous knowledge (indigenious science) of Dieng Plateau people is hardly integrated into science learning. Meanwhile, creative thinking skills as a demand for 21st century skills are urgently needed in students' lives. One of the learning models recommended by the 2013 curriculum is the inquiry lesson model. The ILESSI-DCF (Inquiry Lesson Based Ethno Socioscientific Issues-Dieng Culture Festival) model is an inquiry model constructed with the Socioscientif Issues (SSI) strategy and an ethnoscientific approach. This study aims to analyze the contribution of the ILESSI-DCF (Confrontation, Observation, Recognition, Explanation, Application) syntax in promoting creative thinking skills. The research method used quasi-experimental with the type of independent sample t-statistical design. The research sample consisted of two MA (Madrasah Aliyah) namely MA A, totaling 60 students (experimental group 29 students, control group 31 students), and MA B totaling 64 (sixty four) students (experimental group 32 students, control group 32 students). The data collection method used creative thinking skills test questions. The data analysis technique used SPSS 25.0 on the MANOVA test to analyze the extent to which each syntax of the ILESSI-DCF Model contributed. The results showed that the overall contribution of each syntax of the ILESSI-DCF Model was effective in promoting creative thinking skills. The contribution of the ILESSI-DCF Model syntax has the greatest contribution to syntax 3, namely the reconstruction of students in MA A with a mean of 12.10 when compared to the other syntaxes, while the lowest contribution to syntax 1 Confrontation in MA B with 9.68. The results of the ILESSI-DCF Model syntax contribution very diverse and being influenced by differences in students' cultural backgrounds in reconstructing science action. The implications of research into the contribution of the ILESSI-DCF Model syntax to the ability to reconstruct people's original science into scientific knowledge is very important for realizing character education that respects diversity through the creative thinking skills of MA students.

Abstract

Pentingnya pembelajaran kontekstual yang mampu mengintegrasikan konsep akademik dengan pengalaman nyata peserta didik melalui pemanfaatan potensi lokal. Litera Ksetra sebagai luaran PPK Ormawa berbasis aktivitas pertanian memiliki potensi untuk dikembangkan dalam pembelajaran berbasis proyek yang terintegrasi dengan pendekatan STEAM. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis penerapan integrasi STEAM Learning dengan Litera Ksetra sebagai strategi pembelajaran berbasis proyek pada peserta didik kelas V SD Negeri Bumireso. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif deskriptif dengan teknik sampling penuh yang melibatkan 23 peserta didik. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi penilaian kinerja, angket, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. data dilakukan menggunakan statistik deskriptif berupa mean, median, dan modus, serta didukung kualitatif dengan teknik triangulasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis proyek terintegrasi STEAM memberikan dampak positif terhadap hasil belajar dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 80,8 dan kategori baik. Persentase ketuntasan pada aspek Science sebesar 53%, Technology 51%, Engineering 57%, Art 59%, dan Mathematics 53%. Selain itu, peserta didik menunjukkan keterlibatan aktif, peningkatan kreativitas, serta kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kolaboratif.

Abstract

Program Kampus Mengajar Angkatan 7 di SMP Negeri 2 Tulis berfokus pada peningkatan literasi, numerasi, dan adaptasi teknologi. Observasi awal dan Asesmen Kompetensi Minimum (AKM) menunjukkan rendahnya kemampuan literasi dan numerasi siswa, terutama pada mata pelajaran Matematika dan Bahasa Inggris, serta perlunya revitalisasi perpustakaan. Untuk mengatasi hal ini, dirancang program yang mencakup inisiatif literasi (“Movie With Us”, “Lingkungan Kaya Teks”, “Mading Literasi”, “Pojok Baca & 15 Menit Membaca”, “Kunjungan Perpustakaan”, “Literacy Camp”), numerasi (“Mading Numerasi”, “Ular Tangga Numerasi”), dan transformasi digital (“Pelatihan Canva”, “FMWGSL”, “GMS”). Program tambahan seperti “Olahlah Sampahmu”, “Bimbingan Belajar”, dan “Sosialisasi 3 Dosa Besar Pendidikan” juga dilaksanakan. Hasil post-tes AKM menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada literasi (dari 65% menjadi 81%) dan numerasi (dari 38% menjadi 69%). Implementasi program menghadapi tantangan seperti partisipasi siswa dan ketersediaan pustakawan, namun secara keseluruhan program ini berhasil meningkatkan kompetensi siswa dan mendukung revitalisasi perpustakaan.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of implementing Canva-based interactive slideware media on improving Science learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at MI Ma’arif Mojosari. The research was motivated by the low learning outcomes and limited use of interactive digital learning media in Science instruction. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using a nonequivalent control group design. The population consisted of 54 fifth-grade students, divided into an experimental class and a control class, each comprising 27 students. Data were collected through observation, tests (pretest and posttest), and documentation, then analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, independent sample t-tests, and N-Gain tests. The results indicated that the average score of the experimental class increased from 60.7 on the pretest to 83.7 on the posttest, while the control class increased from 58.7 to 71.0. The independent sample t-test showed a significance value of < 0.001, indicating a significant effect of Canva-based interactive slideware media on students’ Science learning outcomes. Furthermore, the N-Gain score of the experimental class was 0.5996 (moderate category), higher than the control class score of 0.2902 (low category). Therefore, Canva-based interactive slideware media was proven effective in improving Science learning outcomes and can be used as an innovative learning medium in elementary education.

Abstract

This Study was motivated by students’ low arithmetic ability in division material, as indicated by learning outcomes below the minimum mastery criteria (MMC) and difficulties in understanding division concepts. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of magic board media in overcoming difficulties in learning division among third-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Banyukembar, Wonososbo Regency. This study employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental method with a one group pretest-posttest design. The participants consisted of 30 third-grade students. Data were collected through tests, observation, and documentation, and analyzed using validity, reliability, normality testing, homogeneity testing, paired sample t-test, and N-Gain analysis. The result showed that student mean score increased from 50.83 in the pretest to 79.66 in the posttest. The number of students achieving the minimum mastery criteria increased from 4 students to 26 students the paired sample t-test revealed a significance value of 0,000 < 0,05, indicating a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores. Furthermore, the average N-Gain score was 0,6165 with an affectiveness percentage of 61.65%, categorized as quite effective. Therefore, magic board media is quite effective in helping students overcome arithmetic difficulties and improve their ability in division material at the elementary school level.
