Abstract

This research examines the connection between economic growth, education level, government expenditure, and open unemployment in Medan City. This research utilized annual time series data for Medan from 1998 to 2021. This research analysis method employs ECM (Error Correction Model) to comprehend the impact of long-term and short-term predictions processed by Eviews 9 software. According to the research findings, long-term and short-term projections of economic growth, education level, and accessible unemployment have a significant negative impact on poverty levels in the city of Medan. On the other hand, long-term and short-term government spending positively impact the poverty level in Medan City, although the effect is not significant. Based on the result of this research, the Medan City Government should enhance its oversight of the government's budget allocation in the context of reducing poverty in the city of Medan. In addition, the Medan City Government should concentrate its efforts on providing employment opportunities and utilizing competency-based certification and training to decrease unemployment, thereby contributing to reducing poverty in Medan City.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) disclosure and debt policy on firm value, with institutional ownership as a moderating variable. The research focuses on basic industry and chemical sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during 2021-2024. Using a quantitative approach with secondary data from annual reports, sustainability reports, and financial statements, this study employs purposive sampling resulting in 30 companies with 120 observations. Data analysis utilizes panel data regression. The results indicate that ESG disclosure has a positive and significant effect on firm value, while debt policy has a negative effect on firm value. However, institutional ownership cannot strengthen the relationship between ESG and firm value. Conversely, institutional ownership actually weakens the effect of debt policy on firm value. This research provides contributions for company management, investors, and regulators to pay more attention to ESG disclosure as a strategy to enhance firm value, while carefully considering capital structure in the context of institutional ownership.

Abstract

Amplas, a resident of Medan City, is an individual who makes selling traditional cakes her primary source of income. However, in running their business, they face various obstacles, particularly the limited production equipment, which is still traditional. The lack of supporting equipment such as baking pans, steamers, tampas, and stoves makes the production process longer and results in inconsistent results. This situation impacts production capacity limitations, unstable product quality, and difficulties in meeting increasing market demand. Furthermore, without adequate equipment, entrepreneurs face obstacles in developing more diverse and innovative product variations in line with market trends. To increase the economic value and productivity of their businesses, this program focuses on providing more modern production equipment. With the provision of baking pans, steamers, tampas, and stoves, it is hoped that production processes will run faster and produce better quality products. Furthermore, training on equipment use and maintenance will be provided so entrepreneurs can optimize their equipment and extend its lifespan. Through this program, it is hoped that wet cake MSMEs in Harjosari Village can improve the competitiveness of their products, develop more innovative cake variations, and expand their market reach. This will enable them to sustainably increase their income and economic well-being.
