Abstract

Phytophthora spp. is one of the fungal pathogens that kills plants on several kinds of the citrus rootstock. In other countries, it is reported that disease pathogens were reduced in roots containing Vesicular Arbuscular Mycorrhiza (VAM interaction). However, in Indonesia, there is less information about the effect of VAM on the roots of citrus plants against root disease caused by Phytophthora sp. This study aimed to identify VAM in citrus roots and study the potential of VAM in controlling root rot of Phytophthora sp. on five types of the citrus rootstock. The research was carried out at the Phytopathology Laboratory, Indonesian Citrus, and Subtropical Fruits Research Institute (ICSFRI). Phytophthora spp. and VAM samples originated from several citrus centers endemic to Phytophthora were collected. VAM was isolated from the rhizosphere area of citrus plants, while Phytophthora sp. was isolated from infected plant roots. The fungus isolates were isolated, purified, then identified through references. The test of the potential of VAM in increasing resistance of root diseases caused by Phytophthora sp. was performed at the screen house in ICSFRI. The results of the study showed that VAM was identified in 39 gardens in 6 districts from samples collected in 49 yards in 10 regions of citrus centers. The dominant VAM genus is Glomus sp. with the highest density of spores was originated from Ponorogo area. The results of the identification of Phytophthora morphologically showed a diversity of Phytophthora, namely P. parasitica, P. palmivora, and P. citrophthora. The test of the potential of VAM in increasing plant resistance to Phytophthora results showed that Kanci, JC, RL, and Volkameriana varieties inoculated with Phytophthora sp. and Glomus sp. have higher plant height than healthy plants.

Abstract

Abstract

Forest fire is one of important catastrophic events and have great impact on environment, infrastructure and human life. In this study, we discuss the method for prediction of the size of the forest fire using the hybrid approach between Fuzzy-C-Means clustering (FCM) and Neural Networks (NN) classification with backpropagation learning and extreme learning machine approach. For comparison purpose, we consider a similar hybrid approach, i.e., FCM with the classical Support Vector Machine (SVM) classification approach. In the empirical study, we apply the considered methods using several meteorological and Forest Weather Index (FWI) variables. We found that the best approach will be obtained using hybrid FCM-SVM for data training, where the best performance obtains for hybrid FCM-NN-backpropagation for data testing.

Abstract

Investment is the process of allocating money into an asset with the goal of generating future profits. Investing in stocks generates higher returns but has a high risk as well. Therefore, the fluctuations in stock prices are very important so that investors need to analyze stock prices when making an investment. This study aims to apply machine learning in stock price prediction using the Support Vector Regression (SVR) method. JII stock data for the months of December 2021 to November 2022 were used in this study. Predicting stock prices is one of the processes in this research's data analysis processusing the Support Vector Regression (SVR) and then using RMSE to evaluate the model. The conclusions of this study indicate that SVR can be implemented as a method for predicting stock prices with the smallestRMSE values for ANTM, BRIS, and BRPT shares of0.0004.

Abstract

Background and Study Aim. During exercise, the work of the heart will be controlled by sympathetic nerves that will regulate the frequency of heart rate through the depolarization effect. Faster changes in depolarization effects can affect action potentials that become more frequent, so that the heart rate will increase. Stretching serves to improve blood flow and circulation, so it can help in lowering the pulse rate. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of PNF stretching on pulse rate recovery after doing HIIT on futsal players.Material and Methods. This research is an experimental research with the design of this research is control group pretest-posttest consisting of 20 people with sampling technique using population sampling. They were divided by ordinal pairing into two groups, namely the PNF stretching group and the control group. The PNF stretching group underwent PNF stretching session after HIIT session, while the control group only did HIIT session without PNF stretching. Recovery pulse rate was measured before and after the HIIT session, as well as after the PNF stretching intervention or rest period for the control group. Analysis was assisted using SPSS 26.Results. The results showed a significant decrease in recovery pulse rate in the experimental group with an average pretest value of 75.6, posttest 86.8 (p=0.000) with an effectiveness value of 85.8%. The control group showed a less significant decrease in recovery pulse rate, with an average pretest value of 75.2, posttest 76.8 (p=0.104) with an effectiveness value of 75.8%.Conclusion. So that this research is expected to serve as material for consideration, reference, and knowledge for parties related to the world of sports and health science, especially the effectiveness of Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) stretching on pulse recovery after doing High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT).

Abstract

Abstract

Background and Study Aim. The participation of female athletes in a sporting event in each country is very minimal compared to men, basically the State policy has not fully allowed female athletes to wear the hijab. Hijab is familiar to Muslim women but on the other hand the policies of their respective countries do not support Muslim women participating in a sporting event by wearing hijab. This study aims to explore the involvement of Muslim women who wear hijab in international sporting eventsMaterial and Methods. This research used Harzing Publish or Perish to start the search, Scopus database was used, which is considered as one of the best citation indexing tools. The criteria used the PRISMA protocol (preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses). The keywords of this research are (“Muslimah” AND “Sportswear” AND “Women's Participation” OR “Women in Sports”). Based on these results, only 7 journal articles were used in the systematic literature review in this study.Results. The result of this study is that the gradual increase in the number of female Olympians obscures the reality that a woman's opportunity to participate and compete in sports. It can be seen that in several countries there has been an increase in the number of Muslim female athletes participating in championships in the international arena, but the policies given have not allowed female athletes in all sports to cover the aurat or wear the hijab, the obligation of a Muslim is to cover the aurat, which in principle between policies and obligations become two things that intersect.Conclusion. In conclusion, despite a noticeable increase in the number of Muslim female athletes participating in international championships, policy limitations still prevent female athletes in some sports from covering their aurat or wearing the jilbab.

Abstract

In minimizing the risk faced by investors while maximizing returns, it is necessary to study different risk measures for portfolio optimization, namely mean-variance, and semi-variance, so that it can provide a deeper understanding of how each approach works in various market conditions. The mean-variance approach measures risk based on the total variance of portfolio returns. While the semi-variance approach only focuses on downside risk, which is the risk of loss that is more relevant to investors who tend to be conservative. By comparing these two risk measures, investors can understand the trade-offs in choosing a portfolio management strategy. To conduct a study on portfolio optimization, the author uses a multi-objective optimization approach on the mean-variance and semi-variance models, which will be solved with a spiral model. The results of this study are that the spiral model with a simple case that does not involve high dimensions can be solved quickly. However, for high dimensions with significant maximum spread points and iterations, the algorithm in this Matlab programming runs slowly, so it is ineffective in computation. This spiral method is suspected of having several solutions trapped in local minima, or the results obtained have not converged, so the resulting Pareto front is not optimal.
