Abstract

Abstract This research is based on the fact of low concept understanding ability and learning interest of students at school. This study aims to find out whether the learning approach of Realistic Mathmetics Education and animated videos assisted by artificial intelligence can improve students' ability to understand concepts and learning interests. This research is a qualitative research with the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method which consists of two cycles. The subject of this study is students in grades VII-8 of SMP Negeri 51 Bandung consisting of 34 students. Data was obtained from tests, observations, questionnaires, and field notes. The results of the concept comprehension ability test were analyzed using the average ability and percentage of learning completion. The results of the learning interest questionnaire and student responses were analyzed using the Likert scale. Based on the analysis of the data obtained, it can be concluded that students' understanding of mathematical concepts increases, students' interest in learning increases, and students' response to learning with the Realistic Mathematics Education approach and artificial intelligence-assisted animation videos is positive.

Abstract

This research intends to reveal the increasing of senior high school students' mathematical understanding and mathematical disposition. The study involved 124 students from ordinary private schools and Islamic boarding private school. The research method used was quasi-experiment pretest and posttest control group design. The research goals are to examine students’ mathematical understanding ability and mathematical dispositions based on the type of school, type of learning, and students' prior mathematical abilities. The results showed that mathematical understanding and mathematical dispositions of students who received problem-based learning assisted by mathematics kit (PBL-MK) was better than students who only received PBL. Islamic boarding schools students can show better mathematical understanding when studying with PBL-MK. Islamic boarding school students who have high and medium prior mathematical abilities gain better mathematical understanding than non-boarding school students. Keywords: problem-based learning, mathematics kit, mathematical understanding, mathematical disposition.  DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v21i2.pp109-119

Abstract

ABSTRACT: This study aims to investigate students’ mathematical communication skills based on their learning styles. The research adopts a qualitative approach with a case study design. The subjects of this study were nine 7th-grade junior high school students, selected through purposive sampling. Data collection techniques included test instruments (a learning style questionnaire and mathematical communication skill test sheets) and non-test instruments (interviews). Based on the result and discussion, the findings of the study show that students with a visual learning style experience difficulties when the learning process relies solely on lecture-based methods. These students also tend to feel nervous when asked to explain or present their work, and their mathematical communication skills fall into the moderate category. Students with an auditory learning style tend to lose focus due to frequent noise during task completion. However, they are more confident when explaining or presenting the results of their work, placing them in the high category. Students with a kinesthetic learning style prefer hands-on activities using learning aids or studying outdoors. However, they often lack confidence and feel very nervous during presentations, resulting in their mathematical communication skills being classified in the low category.   ABSTRAK: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang ditinjau dari gaya belajar. Metode yang digunakan yaitu metode pendekatan kualitatif. Desain penelitian yang digunakan yaitu   studi kasus. Subjek yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu 9 siswa SMP kelas VII dan teknik pengambilan subjek tersebut menggunakan purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu instrumen tes (angket gaya belajar dan lembar soal kemampuan komunikasi matematis) dan instrumen non tes (wawancara). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pembahasan, hasil dari penelitian tersebut adalah siswa dengan gaya belajar visual itu memiliki kesulitan disaat pembelajaran hanya menggunakan metode ceramah saja dan siswa tersebut merasa gugup saat melakukan penjelasan ulang dan siswa dengan gaya belajar visual berada di kategori sedang, siswa dengan gaya belajar auditori merasa kehilangan fokus karena selalu berisik pada saat mengerjakan soal dan siswa dengan gaya belajar auditori lebih percaya diri ketika melakukan penjelasan ulang atau presentasi hasil pengerjaannya sehingga gaya belajar auditori ada pada kategori tinggi, siswa dengan gaya belajar kinestetik yaitu siswa yang ketika belajar itu selalu ingin praktek menggunakan alat peraga atau belajar di luar ruangan namun ketika melakukan presentasi siswa dengan gaya belajar kinestetik merasa tidak percaya diri dan sangat gugup sehingga gaya belajar kinestetik ada pada kategori rendah.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model assisted by Nearpod application in improving students' mathematical literacy skills. Mathematical literacy is an essential -century competency that includes the ability of communication, mathematization, representation, problem solving strategies, the use of symbols and arithmetic operations and reasoning. The method used was descriptive quantitative method with pretest-posttest control group design. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling. The subjects consisted of three VII classes at MTs Az-Zain Jaya which were divided into two experimental classes (PBL and PBL + Nearpod) and one control class (direct learning). The research instruments included a description test to measure mathematical literacy and an observation sheet to assess learning activities. The results of the study showed that there was a significant difference in math literacy skills between the three groups and the PBL model assisted by Nearpod showed effectiveness in improving math literacy skills. These findings suggest that the integration of PBL model with interactive technology such as Nearpod can increase student engagement, deepen understanding of concepts and encourage optimal development of mathematical literacy skills.   ABSTRAK: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji efektivitas model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbantuan aplikasi Nearpod dalam meningkatkan kemampuan literasi matematika siswa. Literasi matematika menjadi kompetensi esensial abad 21 yang mencakup kemampuan komunikasi, matematisasi, representasi, strategi pemecahan masalah, penggunaan symbol dan operasi hitung serta penalaran. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan desain pretest-posttest control group design. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan yaitu cluster random sampling. Subjek terdiri dari tiga kelas VII di MTs Az-Zain Jaya yang terbagi menjadi dua kelas eksperimen (PBL dan PBL + Nearpod) dan satu kelas control (pembelajaran langsung). Instrumen penelitian meliputi tes uraian untuk mengukur kemampuan literasi matematika dan lembar observasi untuk menilai aktivitas pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan signifikan pada kemampuan literasi matematika antar ketiga kelompok dan model PBL berbantuan Nearpod menunjukkan efektivitas dalam meningkatkan kemampuan literasi matematika. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa integrasi model PBL dengan teknologi interaktif seperti Nearpod dapat meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa, memperdalam pemahaman konsep dan mendorong pengembangan kemampuan literasi matematika secara optimal.
